  1. Thanks for all the info, I think that solved my questions.
  2. Thanks a lot for your quick reply DLuders, So the only strange thing is that although I have got it as a present in 1981, it seems to be the original version prior to the 1978 re-release. One thing I also want to mention is, that my 851 set came with two 24 teeth gear (with crown) in black colour. I don't see them in blackbird's model, and they where also not mentioned in that colour on the instructions. Have there ever been happening such re-designs other models? (other then element replacements like the Linear actuators in the 8043, and the issue with the pump in the 8110)
  3. While I was trying to get the digital versions of the instructionbooks of the sets I own, I found out that there are in fact two instructionbooks for the 851. I own the instructions that fold out as a poster, with a complete 1:1 blueprint of the tractor, really sweet . The second set of instructions I found on brickfactory and come as a traditional booklet. While I was browsing through this book, I not only found out that the build is in a different order, but there are some designchanges made that make the model more sturdy and playable (this model relies for it's playability highly on brick to brick connections). There is in fact a sheet at the end of that scanned instruction booklet that let you convert the "old" version of the 851 lifting system into a "new" version, The thresher gets an extra part aswell to make it more sturdy (not shown on that extra folder). Does anyone know about these two sets, and how I should see this in time? Have changes in building technique and instructions been made before in what appears to be the same sets? I guess, I got the set as a present somewhere in 1981, while peeron is showing 1977 as the release date. I am just curious
  4. check this link http://mindstorms.lego.com/en-us/support/buildinginstructions/8527/Alpha%20Rex.aspx, maybe it has to do with the region you choose.
  5. Yes they are, but not form the customerservice part. go to the product tab in main screen (lego.com) select mindstorms, then products again followed by selecting the nxt 2.0 tab in there. The animation of the different models morphing from one to the other is shown. There are four buttons shown at the top of the animation, the most right gives acces to the different building instructions, and programs. Hope this helps you out.
  6. Maybe it's an idea to get the weight of the box including bags, and ask here if someone with the box closed can weigth it too. That way you immediatly know "if" there is something wrong. I got this from googling on the internet for the 10185+weigth Product Dimensions: 58.4 x 43.2 x 10.2 cm ; 3 Kg Boxed-product Weight: 3.2 Kg Hope it helps, Jan
  7. Try A-tembo, Delft. They have a good webstore (bought some there in the past years), and they also have a real store, although I have never been there. Look under the tab "specials". Good Luck
  8. Thanks all for your kind words, I know, but they make my filesize twice of what it is now. Well, we had the ideabooks, and the alternative builds back then, but I have to say that I also would prefered this almost endless amount of available instructions when I was a kid. Sorry , sunlight (when available, and thats often the problem here) is the easiest (or at least cheapest) way for good photo's, but I think you are unnecessary hard on yourself.
  9. Well, how to start, My 7 year old son is a big fan of castle Lego, and has build up quite a collection in the past years. What he loves to do is building models, he doesn't have, from available pdf instructions. Last week he finished his copy of the Medieval Market Village set, and it looked really nice. While browsing this forum I came across this post: Dragon Knight Keep, from EB member Inkog, and I showed my son how he used the buildings from the Medieval Market Village in a very clever way into a castle setup. My son instantly fell in love with the model, and wanted us to make a similair castle aswell. The biggest challenge was to build a castle that size with his "limited" amount of grey bricks available. We also added some extra play-functions to it by making the buildings easy acessable, and adding a jail to the central house. Yesterday was a sunny day and we took the model outside and made some photo's I know it's a shameless reproduction of a very good MOC, but I still hope you like it. thank you for reading, Jan images link to 6 megapixel equivalents. with the roofs removed. King's Carriage looking familiar? wonder what the dragon with the ninja is up to? (me too)
  10. If my memory serves me well, there is in fact a sub-serie in the Architecture line. You have the (USA)Landmarks, and the "non"-landmarks. So you should put this aside of the House of falling water in the "non"-landmarkes line. I like this serie much better than the (USA)landmarks. Hope they go overseas with the next in line. Corbusier, Rietveld would be nice aswell.
  11. I don't think these are for the card, they are next to the spinner on page 4 of the instructions, and they are used when you lock up the spinner. Watch the "Masterclass video" on locking up your spinner on the Lego website.
  12. Just an idea, The proportions will look even better if you would choose 5 wide for the main body, and it gives you a possibility to hide the rc-body. I think the 2x1 grill-bricks would look even better when they are reccesed in the body. Hope it's helpfull. Jan
  13. My guess is that there have been similair situations like this one: bucketloader 6630 The yellow technic look-a-like part where you put the red arms connected to the bucket has these kind of slots aswell to reduce stress on the part during placement and removal. Just a guess.
  14. Could you post a reference picture if possible? I looked for the 422 class Pacific National, but couldn't find a decent image. It's allways quite a challenge to get the nose of the loc to look properly. Keep up the good work.
  15. 10194 Emerald night set, page 4. I just checked it and it fits in now, because there seems to be no friction on the thicker part anymore. Hope this is what you mean Jan
  16. Look in the pinned LDD index thread for Superkalle's LDD-manager, it's just what you are looking for.
  17. What I see is three themes from different "waves", old atlantis minifigure, skeleton (castle / kingdoms ?) and this guy form pharaoh's quest, but all on the same collectible minifig stand. Then the questionmarks? It looks like the colours don't match the figures standing next to them. blue - atlantis? tan - pharaoh's quest? dark red ???. Only the skeleton is wearing a weapon ?
  18. Another idea could be this, no additional track needed: 7720 With real lights How to upgrade 7720 Diesel Shunter by LEGO Train 12 Volts
  19. Only problem could be the fact that the pneumatic attachment point in the front is not placed in the center. So you might need to mirrorbuild the whole crane first.
  20. Well not allthough it's not a technic model, this model from Harm Jan Technologies is really very nice link
  21. I recently bought some 9 volt track and got a damaged 9v motor with it. Opened it up and only problem were the contacts between the wheels an motor. Bend them a little, and it's running fine for some time now. You might just want to open it to check if your motor has a similair easy-to-repair problem.
  22. I have been looking for this one aswell a while ago, but with no luck. No reference on peeron whatsoever. and I have been looking thoroughly. Closest comes the glass for the 4x4x3 window that is used for the roof windows. Only problem is that it has two connection points on the sides instead of on top and bottom.
  23. I did found this formula1 model from EB member Grohl.
  24. Good to see that the problem is mine and not general. I am using the latest Firefox, but I think that it might be one of the add-ons that is not functioning properly. I have had this before with another add-on which was showing a huge black square on the screen related to the banner. Have to check this out tonight, but it's a shame that I have to turn off a few of my add-ons as it is one of the things I like a lot using Firefox. Anyway, thanks for your quick relies
  25. When I am adding a link to a topic, the standard formating of the link is just the same as the rest of the text. Wouldn't it be handy to give it some standard formatting like underline, bold, or a slightly different colour so that you instantly see that something is a link? I hope this question hasn't appeared earlier, I used search but couldnt'find anything on this specific.
