  1. Love it, The eyes are great, just right. A great movie and a wonderful recreation.

Non-X-Men Hawkeye Moon Knight Quasar (Real longshot that one!)
  5. Just seen your entry - Who would have thought it! - I nearly made the scene where the Princess and Caveman escape from the crate past the gangsters. My son prefers your entry though! I made this scene at his suggestion!

  7. Theme City Minifigure Gangster Mickey always sat in his favourite booth at Joe's Pizzeria. He liked the fact that he could see all the way to the front door. If anyone came in that was lookin for a fight, it was easy to hide his gun under the table...... View 1 by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr I've added a shot to my Flickr stream of 2 gangster's having a Pizza - Suggested by Oky...
  8. Wow, I'd just startd my build then took a look at this. I feel humbled. Fantastic, and the Penguin's right, it would look just slightly more amazing with a couple of extra characters in there.
  9. Thanks for the kind words all. Would this fit the bill? Station other side by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr Station by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr Station aerial by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr
  10. This is the first piece of my 7777 redux entry - I've built a 6 baseplate dio, and the is one of the main pieces. Signal House 2 by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr Backside Signal house by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr Signal House and semaphore by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr The semaphore tower has a switch that enables you to turn the switch from go to stop. There's more to come with another 2 baseplates of train track and a small street that runs alongside.
  11. Where I am (West London - Heathrow area) there has never been any shortage of stock of CMF's so I've been able to accumulate 'small' armies of some figures, but I've done it over time. I have three Gladiators, but not the first 3 out of the first box I came across. As someone who goes through a number of local stores once or twice a week I can also honestly say that if I'd wanted to complete any series I would have easily been able to, for every series except 1, simply because there was stock on the shelf for at least 3 months. What I've noticed is the number of parents who wont buy a CMF for their kid, because of the randomness - I hear - 'I know you want the lizard man, but I've bought you three already and you didnt get him, I'm not buying another one' Trust me the bag fingerer they were previously looking at slightly oddly becomes a lot more useful when he passes them a newly discovered lizard man. I'm all for bag checking, just remember the kids (I usually buy one for me and one each for the kids - except elves!)
  12. Wow - fantastic idea for a contest - I only have magnet minifigs but i've been meaning to build some bat-stuff for ages - just hope I can fit it in between the 7777 reduc and the CMF 5 contest.... Too many contests - fab... 13. I was just saying to my son this morning the contest must be due to start any minute - I'm anticipating an onslaught of Gladiator scenes for category B for some reason - must get inspired...
  14. I just got back from a business trip to New York, and the Inventory at the NYC Rockerfeller Store was almost identical - the only part they didnt have there was the Tan 2x2 tile. Ironically despite living near Heathrow Airport it's the store I get to most because of work, and when I went to Westfield SB recently it was all postboxes and 2x4 bricks, not a tile in sight. Must try and talk the wife into a Bluewater christmas shopping trip soon.
  15. Cant argue with any of those..... Amazing builds and well deserved winners, and so many other entries that were inspiring. Well done everybody.
  16. Arthur is my all time favourite engine - 'Bricktrix' has built an absolute perfect replica of the real LMS engine he was based on. I'll gave to get out the books again and check out Peter Sam - But any similarity is entirely co-incidental!
  17. The way I've built them I can detach the non-powered wheels and attach either my 12 or 9V setup quite easily, but my intention was to keep these manually powered for the time being. I'd love to get into PF at some point though.
  18. Thanks for the namecheck Josh - My son's first response was that with a few part changes you could make him look like he was covered in chocolate (The Chocolate Crunch - I'm sure you've seen it several hundred times!) - I'm sure your own lad will think he's just as much fun. Seriously Percy's great and the style is very nice, I'd love to see a Thomas. My lad wants to do Duck next - Just need 64 6091's in green!
  19. I Scream Clone is very kindly crediting me with having 'made' him make his version of 'Percy', to which I'm rather flattered. Then I realised I'd not posted here, only in my Flickr, so here she is. My son had nagged me for ages to start building more trains - I have a 12V 7740 and he has 4511. I hope these 2 are the first of a few new engines. Diesel Shunter by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr I'd also built a small tank engine Red Tank Engine by The Solitary Dark, on Flickr Both of these were to get me fired up for the 7777 redux contest - whilst it's a no loco contest I wanted to have an moc engine to include in my entry.
  20. Really impressive - I'd seen the first shots earlier on Flickr and was very impressed - all the interiors are as interesting as the exteriors. Love the carriage too.
  21. From the very beginning I told myself I was not going to be a completist - No complete sets of 16 for the sake of it - And I stuck to it - Series 1 Between myself and the kids we only picked 13 of the 16 up. Same with series 2 onwards. But once I saw those Samurai, and Fisherman and Elves. Oh boy. Multiples time. Then Musketeers !!!! When we go to the supermarket me and the boy stop and have a feel of any packet we see, and if it was one of the above we'd buy it. Cant have too many elves! Even when there were only a couple left in the box and the end of the run I'd stil find elves. Now series 5 i'm not too keen on, but I've picked up 2 Gladiators, 1 for me one for the boy, just cos I think i'll regret it in the future if I dont. Too good for MOC's. And with the leaked images of 6 I already know I'm in trouble.
  22. A fantastic review for a set I was very unfamiliar with - My favourite feature is the river made of the 3 large slopes. And those minifigs look amazing. Thanks for bringing this marvellous set such attention. I really want some of those treestumps!
  23. This is my Entry in the Eurobricks Spaghetti Western category 2 Competition. Since most of my brick collection is from castle and city sets from the early eighties with only a few more modern sets added in my challenge was to see if I could build a Western town with what I had - I had some small amounts of Tan and reddish brown, and a few dark tan plates but very little else. I was amazed at how many Cowboy hats I had - All the minifigs have been made up from parts I already had and I didnt buy a single part for this scene. It breaks into two sepearate pieces party so my two kids can have a piece each to play with. I decided on a California/New Mexico feel but the whole town feels a bit more like its cobbled together from whatever folks found lying around! 24. So many wonderful things in this scene - The rocks and waterful are stunning - and the character in that Snake - just marvellous. Good luck in the competition.
  25. Merlin's Beard!
