  1. Well done on this set, I particularly like the white and blue combination in the photography area, and your interpretation of a spinning wheel on the first floor of the building. And it seems quite a few of us were inspired to make ice sculptures!
  2. Anyone else feel an overwhelming compulsion to bite into that donut?
  3. Very nice work! My initial idea was actually an ice rink, much bigger than the one in the Winter Bakery, but you've pulled it off. I also like the idea of having outdoor activities.
  4. Welcome to the show!
  5. Hello Ash, and welcome to the show.
  6. Yes it is! and thank you.
  7. I added water to the powder; it's one part powder to 15 parts water, and it goes a long way. Oh yes, thank you lightningtiger!
  8. Thank you very much! You can use the cocoa stand for your display, I don't mind. The downstairs windows were aped from the Post Office, just using different colours. (A huge shout out to ProsArch Bricks on BrickLink for the windows, filling in for a very slow order.) The snow is "The Snowman" branded artificial snow, which is really good and very convincing. This is my last competition, mainly because there's a world of difference between building to compete and building for fun; when it comes to competitions I tend to screw up somehow. I might still play along with whatever comes up in the future.
  9. B-OV-21C Updated with picture links to elsewhere. Can I take that oar out now? I saw the completely unexpected extension as a second chance (Call of Duty style!), so rather than go out with a whimper I decided to rework the main building, which ironically was the weakest part of my entry. This time I built for myself rather than trying to win. Clothes Shop / Radio Station Release year: 2011/2012 # of parts: ~760 # of minifigs: 8 This entry is made up of some of the things I felt were missing from a rural town during winter, which could be added to a layout involving the official Winter sets. The original idea was a toss-up between a department store and a radio station... and naturally I ended up doing both. The smaller components include a bridge over a frozen river (had to make use of the transparent 16x16 plate I'd bought at AFOLcon), and a bus shelter (which acts as the "bench" in this set). A middle-aged Oriental woman sells hot creamy cocoa (thank you) from her stall. Did you notice the sprig of mistletoe? There's also a makeshift robin on top of the bus shelter. A well-to-do young man and his spoiled girlfriend stop outside the clothes shop, because she's spied the most expensive dress she's ever seen: a flowing and flattering pink silk number detailed with Gustavovich jewellery, and the only one ever made. Sale price: LU 490,000 (no adjustments allowed). The inside of the main building has three floors: the shop floor at the bottom, a private fitting area on the first floor (complete with approving tailor), and the local radio station at the top. The original building was extended to include the second floor, which is why it has LBG walls. The small radio station, playing the best in suitable music. If they're not singing or playing an actual instrument, it doesn't go on air. More pictures can be found in this Brickshelf folder. BrickShelf is still down...
  10. Now that I have them, my vote is tied between the Alien and Sleepyhead.
  11. Just updated my post with S6 figures I'm looking to trade (which apparently makes me the second UK person to do so!).
  12. Come take these other Minotaurs off my hands.
  13. Okay, but given the rumours since the last series (and if I remember correctly, increases elsewhere) I thought it was important - more so than "lol". I also had no idea they were showing up at John Lewis apparently, so good times all round. Anyhow I think Lego's right on the money with the distribution this time, although there are quite a few desirable and parts that are going to be harder to accumulate as a result (the sleepy guy's hairpiece, the robot's key and perhaps the butcher's cleaver for example). The Leprechaun, surgeon, robot and sleepy guy have grown on me.
  14. News just in: I can also confirm something that people have conveniently left out: they are still GBP 2.00. Thankfully we haven't been hit with a price rise - yet.
  15. Anyone know if I can mail the coupons for the vulture droid, and what the address is?
  16. I'll be scoping out Westfield London (Shepherds Bush) tomorrow, hopefully with some good news (and more importantly an update that's actually useful).
  17. Thank you
  18. This was going to be part of my Winter Village entry, having been conceived early on. I decided to go with some other smaller models in the end, and this wouldn't have complimented the set - but I built this anyway because I didn't want the parts to go to waste. (Friendly tip: don't try to build this using LDD's instructions! At least, make the parts opaque first.)
  19. Very cool "old school" style chalet! How many pieces did you use in total?
  20. Three BrickLink orders last night, and then just now a Hogwarts game and ten S5 figures. Amazingly there were no duplicates, but I have yet another Detective. (surrideo I've got a Mobster if you want it.)
  21. Right now the Skater Girl as my favourite of the 16, and S4 is the undisputed champion right now, but only until S7 (if the rumours are true) comes around. For me S6 is on the same level as S3: just a few figures I have interest in collecting, and only in small numbers. I think it's too early to determine which of the figures is the proverbial Diver/Race Car Driver/etc.
  22. Also at John Lewis: S5 minifigures for £1 - and there's lots of them! A few sets have also been discounted just a little bit.
  23. I'm slightly jealous of all those transparent parts you've got, I only have a few of those panels. Anyway, a very interesting and original idea, and very well executed - I like how you did the roof.
