  1. I get called an "expert" sometimes... but I'm too busy looking at what I'm doing to notice.
  2. News just in: 14 sets in total: 12 x Ninjago Ninja Training (30082) and 2 x Star Wars Star Destroyer (30053). I wish I'd thought ahead and collected the Alien Conquest vouchers.
  3. Dude. I haven't received anything yet, but I'll be in to receive them at least.
  4. A lot of really really good entries, but I'm going to go with simplicity/effectiveness on this one. 3) Gladiator Entry (Build by _dargor_) - 1 point 29) Pharaoh Queen Entry (Build by Stardusty) - 1 point 34) Boxer Entry (Build by an3) - 1 point.
  5. 3) The Mist scene - Skateboarder and Woodcutter Entry (Build by Yatkuu) - 2 points 6) Planet of the Apes scene - Caveman, Gorilla and Cavewoman Entry (Build by CorneliusMurdock) - 1 point.
  6. Again a tough choice, but one point each for Legostein, Darth Yogi and mordatre.
  7. This is a tough one... One point each for Praiter Yed, Darth Yogi and R. Suzuki.
  8. +1 for trading buddy charlieboy.
  9. I got the info in an email from Lego a bit earlier. Will clarify that this applies to buying something today only via S@H, and there's also free delivery for £25 or more orders.
  10. I got this in a Lego VIP email just now. The following is available tomorrow (19th November) only: Spend £25 for free delivery; Spend £50 for free delivery + the second Christmas set; Spend £100 for free delivery, the Christmas set and 10% off the order amount. Just to clear up any confusion, nobody is going to just walk into a store and get something for free. (Perhaps unless you were lucky to get a VIP invite.)
  11. I'm seconding the BBCode way, it could be very useful for both signatures, MOC showcasing and reviews.
  12. All I'm going to say is... very well done! I know you've been working on this for a very long time, but two years?! That's dedication. Will we get to see the town with more people and vehicles in it, going about their routines?
  13. Welcome to the show!
  14. Kudos to you for the detailed paintwork on the figure! The hairpiece looks really good too, I'm guessing you added the streaks on top of an existing hairpiece.
  15. Very nice use of the fireman's mask!
  16. Two mobile police centres (for the white doors!) and four games from the terrible Toys R Us on Old Kent Road.
  17. A heads up for anyone planning on going to Toys 'R Us: games also count as part of the 3 for 2 offer, even though they're BOGOHP. So don't buy games and sets at the same time, if you're going to buy more than two sets!
  18. Hence, probably why they got S3 first last year around this time.
  19. I'd also recommend Sunblock for the 1x1 tiles in pink, and a few other small tiles and things. I've bought Frog Rush, Ramses Revenge and a couple of other games solely for parts.
  20. I've updated the back and side photos; fortunately I had already taken them. If I hadn't done a rabbi I would have gone for a matador, which I guess is just as controversial.
  21. Having given a sermon at Greatland Port Street synagogue, Rabbi Roger Gerschwitz beats a hasty path to his limo convoy. Let me state from the outset that I know next to nothing about Judaism, but I've always been fascinated by this associated clothing style. The idea for this figure came through developing a custom item (a wide-brimmed hat) for another figure idea I had, which has yet to come to any fruition. Not all Jewish people dress like this, of course - sadly I had to point that out. The name Gerschwitz was inspired by the movie A Fish Called Wanda: a film I watched when I was younger but could only understand recently. Front The rabbi's hat is a modified top hat: lots of measuring and cutting were required to make it the right height and fit, and then the joins were covered in Milliputt and painted over (using Decorlack). By far the trickiest part was adding the "curly locks" to the hat, which was done using pieces of a very thin sheet styrene rod and more Milliputt, also painted. The jacket is made from black card with the lapels glued on, and goes over the body like a vest to allow free arm movement. Because of this I also painted the sides of the torso black. Initially I was going to add a characteristic beard, perhaps even getting one from Brickforge, but I thought it would be overkill. Side Back The whole thing would probably cost £5 to make (not including the sheet styrene, which wasn't really necessary), although again I had the materials already. For more pictures of the rabbi and the vignette see my Brickshelf folder.
  22. I've updated and added more pictures to the folder; instead of a 1x2 plate on the backs of the legs I'm going with a 1x1.
  23. As long as it's a matching brick colour, I don't mind. I do think they should reserve white and black for extra special editions, though.
  24. Thank you Praiter for the feedback, I was a little worried there. I really appreciate the constructive criticism. I'm going to try some more poses from the side, but this time without the two plates behind the legs. Stay tuned.
  25. Is this a US-only event? That would be a darn shame.
