  1. Matthias is only too happy to hang back and quiet his heaving stomach after another dragon ride. The druid smells some salts and quaffs a nostrum while he waits.
  2. The gnome continues to look uncertain as he follows the others out.
  3. "Sorry... as if the situation isn't dark enough. But really, that dwarf we fought wasn't a fairy, was he? Are we calling him an automaton? A projection? An illusion? Or a fairy?" The gnome seems troubled, remembering history lessons from his Ranger training. "The Fey One, Euflear, has aided Heroica in the recent past... why fight us now? And if, instead, this menace extends beyond Eubric to the Fae realm," he gulps, "then we are in a dark place indeed." Gathering himself, Matthias dusts off his hat and carefully arranges it on his head before nodding to Gibbin that the party should be off.
  4. "You can get this dust from grinding up fairies? Is it what they bleed?" The gnome wonders about their recent encounter. "Was that thing we faced a fairy? Or a fairy-dust contraption? If you get fairy dust from grinding up fairies, that might mean the Fey One isn't just a suspect, but also a possible victim." "I think that's a good idea," Matthias agrees thoughtfully.
  5. Is there a difference between Pixie Dust and Fairy Dust and Fairie Dust? Matthias listens closely to the alchemist, Gibbin, and Rone, and comes away confused. "So is it pixie dust, or fairy dust?" He asks. "It seems a stretch to conclude the Fey One is responsible, but we do at least know that that dwarf was no Doomsayer. We should try to meet up with the other Heroes and investigate Fort Bonaparte."
  6. Matthias keeps a wary eye on the streets. "Pardon me, sir, but might we get inside before any more rioters see us?"
  7. Hehehehehe you're welcome!
  8. "Uh, I. Uh, sure. ! ." is the best Matthias can do... it's apparent that if he gets any redder his hat will catch fire. Grateful almost as much for the distraction as for the gifts loan, Matthias hurriedly tries to figure out how to put them on. He hooks the hangar around his neck awkwardly, mail shirt draped over it, turns about, gets the mail tangled underfoot and almost chokes himself with the hangar. Still blushing terrifically, he finally manages to get the hangar settled in place and loop the much-too-large mail up in some semblance of order so that it affords him extra protection. "Thanks, Master Arthur; I will return it soon." Turning to the others, he nods at Gibbin. "To the Guild."
  9. Narrow druidic eyes cast a withering glare at Rone - or at least Matthias hopes it's a killer glare. The blush creeps back up his face until he's crimson through and through before he faces back to the Ziegfried ladies.
  10. The gnome can only blush and point at Rone in protest. "It wasn't me."
  11. Matthias nods to Chesterine, indicating that the party is done conversing with the Golden Dragon. "I think we need to take the Ziegfrieds home, Master Hoke."
  12. Transfixed by the speech, Matthias finds himself giving a little bow of assent to the Golden Dragon's words, though his tongue is stuck to the roof of his mouth.
  13. Dusting his hat in his hands, Matthias does his best to look respectable and supportive of Gibbin as the rogue makes his speech.
  14. Matthias thinks for only a second. "In that case, let's get on with the séance... we need to go quickly. Can you speak to the spirit of this corpse, and ask if she is Heroica's Golden Dragon?"
  15. Matthias recoils at the thought of permanently disturbing the Golden Dragon's grave, then realizes that of course the - fake? - Doomsayer has already moved the body and that Chesterine should probably be back home. "Yes, let's take the body back to Ziegfried Manor; we can work to find whatever answers are possible from the Golden Dragon's spirit when we get there." It suddenly occurs to Matthias that he might have spared himself a lot of embarassment if he had suggested that idea from the beginning.
  16. Noting the lack of blood and pile of metallic dust, Matthias shrugs at the bard. "Whoever that was, he may not even have been alive... or human." "I'm so glad you're OK," the gnome gushes. Then he blushes. Turning to Gibbin, he busies himself calling ether to nurture the man back to health, hiding his red face under his hat.
  17. So, I don't think we actually need to worry... it says at half health, and 1016/5832 ≠ 50%... as long as he doesn't suddenly gain exactly 1900 more health, no issues! Matthias, flat on his back but completely restored to health from the exploding whirlwind of magic, grabs his Stave to heal Gibbin. Matthias: Heal (Stave) vs. Atramor
  18. Picture a grizzled thief, all in black and feathers in his hat, revelling in battle, an unlikely leader yet urging his comrades forward as he swings a wicked trephine towards a powerful foe. Picture a tiny gnome, an enormous cannon hanging from his shoulder strap and an enormous top hat on his pate, standing on the thief's belt pouches. With one hand he clings to the man's shirt front and with the other wafts a smelling salt up to bring his larger comrade to heightened alertness. He dips his head this way and that to keep the top hat out of the thief's eyes; his breath is labored from crushed ribs and yet still he struggles valiantly to aide his comrades.... Matthias: Smelling Salts v. Atramor Picture a young necromancer, her broken body not yet splashed with mud, fallen a few steps behind the battle, the too-pale skin of her cheeks white against the scarlet of blood pooling beneath her. Surely her spirit will quote the proverb, "Necromancer, raise thyself!", and yet to no avail.
  19. Matthias, praying to Orrick for Chesterine's resurrection at the Prophet's hands, uses a Smelling Salts on Gibbin from the front row.
  20. Matthias uses a Remedy on Bellanotte, holding Chesterine's limp form (actually just holding her head up, since she's quite a tick bigger than he is).
  21. Is there a reason Matthias did nothing for his second turn? I gave him an action....
  22. Matthias, not certain of the plan but certain that the other heroes are swinging, motions Chesterine to stay towards the back. He fires off a shot with his Extraordinaire, then swings his stave around to heal anyone who's hurt. > Matthias: Extraordinaire v. Enemy > Chesterine: Revive v. First KO'd Party Member > Matthias: Heal (Stave) v. First Injured Party Member; if none, Extraordinaire v. Enemy
  23. Matthias nods sadly. "I thought as much. Oh well." "Do you really think that's liable to work? Half the heroes I know are immune to sleeping spells and that guy might be a Founder!"
  24. Matthias whispers to Chesterine. "Obvously this isn't ideal, but do you think you can speak to the remains there and find out whether it's the Golden Dragon? If you can find out quickly, maybe we can avoid this messiness." The gnome readies his Stave to heal any injured party members.
