Huh. I think you're on to something there... "MegaFist", "Assault Star Ship", "direct frontal assault or sneak attack from behind"... Anyway, nice to see you on EB Leo, and good to see your "put your brick where your mouth is" entry over here too. Hopefully we'll hear back on that soon!

Don't take this the wrong way at all... I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I've loved the Lego sets. But, I almost feel like SW Lego has had a fantastic 10 year run, hugely successful, and maybe it's time to end this line and bring us something new. A return to the old space lines, maybe, or a whole new space line. I really think the Star Wars line has blocked out other space sets (I don't really count the new space police...). The other thing is, I'm more worried that if the Star Wars line continues, they're gonna ruin a good thing; i.e., TLG should stop while they're ahead. The massive influx of stickers and increased prices, as well as the move away from more traditional, Lego-y figures (i.e. the rubber heads on the aliens, more detailed, action-figure like figs, etc)... I guess it's starting to worry me. Ultimately, I'd rather lose the Lego Star Wars than lose the classic Lego characteristics, if ya know what I mean. Probably an unpopular position to hold, I know... but surely someone out there must feel similarly .

THIS is what the Lego apple SHOULD have looked like. And yes, I too fell for the pencils in the first shot. Very nice work.

Hi Everyone, This is Alan from Singapore
Blackicep8ntball replied to Alan Chua's topic in Hello! My name is...
Couldn't have said it better - tell us about yourself Alan ! Welcome to EB and enjoy the stay. -
Wow enjoy BrickExpo! Sounds like you're diving right back into the Lego world. I think your daughter has good taste in Lego - some of those older models really take the cake. Anyway, welcome to Eurobricks, and welcome back to the world of bricks!

Haha a very grand entrance indeed, and some very fine MOCs. It's an honor to have you here, and I hope you enjoy the site. You really do have a nice collection of chrome parts, and you put them to good use. Looking forward to your future work!

Hello Devin from Billund!
Blackicep8ntball replied to Cap Toys Bricks's topic in Hello! My name is...
Hello Devon from Billund and welcome to EB! I too am curious what themes you like. Enjoy the site, and feel free to ask around if you have any questions. See you around. -
Haha funny you should say that... I too got 3 for 3 in this category, but voted on VERY few of the winners in the small or medium category. Ah well... I guess our taste in small and medium vignettes just departs from that of the crowd generally. I'll pretend our taste is just more refined . ...

Wow... quite a spread from first place to second - thanks for putting up the points, KimT. These three entries represent a lot of effort and skill - congratulations to all!

[MOC] L13 Jules Verne contest on Legopirate.net
Blackicep8ntball replied to Captain'Spaulding's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Very clever! It's a very effective technique. -
Welcome to EB, and congrats on being the first one to get that username - I'm kinda surprised that one wasn't gone already. As the others have said, you seem to be a pirate fan. Do you do many MOCs or get into other themes at all? Hope you enjoy your time here, and looking forward to your creations!

Really good to have you, FredScholnz. I've got a little German background myself. It's addicting once you re-ignite the old Lego passion... Hopefully you have a wife who understands . Aside from Star Wars and Mindstorms, do you get into any other Lego themes? And I'm curious too as to what your "creative" side likes to build! Welcome to Eurobricks, and hope you enjoy the forums!

VINTAGE PIRATE SET: 6277 Imperial Trading Post
Blackicep8ntball replied to legolooney's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Have been checking around on this set, and looks like with the shipping and pound-to-dollar exchange rate, I'd be better off going with one already in the states on Bricklink. If you end up letting it go for closer to $130 US, let me know! Thank you very much for checking on that shipping for me though. -
Welcome to the forum! I'm a southerner as well; there seem to be a good many of us around here. So just city sets, eh? Any other Lego themes that you're interested in? Hope to see some of your builds soon!

Something about offset spaceships just really intrigues me - I think it's because they're much more difficult to design. You've got an excellent build on your hands here, Optimus. The ladder is very cleverly designed; I love the way you've built the intake vents on the engines, excellent greebles, and that screen in the rear is absolutely killer! Love it. I see you resisted putting the decals on that new Slave I cockpit... I tried, but I ultimately gave in to the temptation, and so I no longer have clean, clear windscreen like that. You've put it to good use. I wish TLG would bring us a set of this calliber. Since you asked for criticism, here it is: If I had to add one thing, I'd install some sort of drop doors for the troops inside so they could do a rapid exit (paratroop style). Just a thought from a guy who has no hopes of building something this cool. PS. Do you know how many pieces you've used? Just curious.

[MOC] L13 Jules Verne contest on Legopirate.net
Blackicep8ntball replied to Captain'Spaulding's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Tres bon! Beautiful undersea scene. This Jules Verne contest is bringing out some beautiful and novel creations. Very cool, industrial-looking letters on top as well. Good memories from that movie . There are some green, wavy parts you used for some of the sea grass that I don't recognize - are those Lego? -
Congratulations everyone - to the victors go the spoils! The winners have well earned them. @ KimT: how do you feel about posting the vote counts, at least for the winners? I'm curious to see them (or if not the actual vote counts, perhaps percentages?) Thanks!

Can't help but comment on your work again, AC... the merged MOCs and the new details are spectacular. The Theed arch is particularly breathtaking, and the details on the walls and inside of the arch are mind-blowing. We'll miss your work during your break, so don't stay away too long!

Congratulations, DLuders! You're regulating a forum that I don't even always understand . That engineering background must be helpful. Cheers!

Your piano is PERFECT. Makes the organ from the new Imperial Flagship look like child's play. As a pianist, that detail just smacked me in the face Wow. As for the rest of the ship, it's huge! I like the modular design, and the kitchen area stuck out to me too. Thanks for sharing!

Journey to the Center of Earth
Blackicep8ntball replied to 74louloute's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Haha well, it's kind of a blend of historic and Sci-fi.. "Journey to the Center of the Earth" is definitely a sort of historical science fiction, and the author, Verne, is certainly a historical figure. So I think it fits here ok, and certainly in Sci-fi. Anyway, back on topic: Bro, this MOC is fantastic! Like the others, I like the water, the raft, and particularly the work on the minifigs - they take me back to the 1959 movie (WAY better than the 2008 version, btw). However, your masterpiece is the mini-scale world up top - using the forestmen hats as trees is brilliant, and the houses are genius too. -
Nice MOC Flare. Those aliens are very creative - clever design using the arms as eye-stalks. Nice work on their beaks too. One thing I was wondering about is the hands... were you going for a specific look by using those vents? I was wondering if another part might be more effective there. Anyway, good stuff, and keep building!

I agree with these later posters - I think the new Boba is gorgeous. One thing I will say, though, is that the new one is so detailed and perfect that it almost takes away from his "Legoness". The old Bobas have the Lego look to them, and I like that. As for Jango... well, he's clearly not quite the popular character that Boba is, and so I don't know that TLG should re-release him. However, I have to admit I'm biased as I have the old Jango and a new release could potentially de-value mine . But perhaps not a Jango in the style of the new Boba. That would be kinda cool to see!

A complaint about the new SW sets
Blackicep8ntball replied to ThatGuyWithTheBricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hmm interesting topic. As a whole, I think the builds have gotten better. I'm not particularly concerned about the color situations, but the prices are out of control in my opinion ($79 for the new slave I, when the 2006 version was $49 and had only 30ish less pieces?). Also, the stickers are a big complaint. I know some people like to take the stickers off and have a clean brick, but in my opinion they make the set look cheap, and they're really hard to apply straight (and I'm a graduate student - can't imagine a 9-15 year old trying to affix the decals straight!). But hope isn't all gone with TLG - the new Rebel Blockade Runner had a decent parts-to-price ratio and no stickers. As others have said, however, the way to tell TLG what we think is to talk with our wallets. Aside from the new Slave I, I just don't buy sets with stickers or really high price-to-parts ratios. -
Steve Earle - Someday. Discovered it on National Public Radio, of all places. Really nice sounding folk-rock. Check it out.
