  1. Very cool!! Love the camo and engine details!! Nice work!
  2. There's several excellent characters I could pick but I think Pedro's minstrel has it by a whisker... (just love that great lute!!)
  3. Kaseem's Camel Dairy Camel milk has long been enjoyed by the desert nomads (some believe it's actually an aphrodisiac!!) but it has always proven difficult to turn into butter and cheese... until now!! Using a closely guarded method, former camel herd, Kaseem has managed to do just that and now these new wonder foods are available for you to buy at his stall in Alamut market. Kaseem's stall (known locally as "The Cheesy Camel") here you can buy fresh camel milk, butter and his famous range of cheeses!! The milking area. While some of the milk goes straight into barrels ready for sale, the rest is used to make cheese and butter. Rear view of the stall showing the range of cheese available and the butter preparation area. Number of pieces: 116 Thanks for looking and good luck to everyone who enters... Cheers Greg
  4. Stunning work!!! A real work of art.... I love the details especially the windows and the "carvings" above the doors.... brilliant!!
  5. A perfect piece of work.... I love it!!! (wish I could make something even half that good!!) Great work...
  6. TLG's latest plan, to combine the Prince of Persia and Pirate themes, hits a setback when a designer mishears his instructions....
  7. A hopeful Hassansin comes to find out who just called him a "pretty boy" (he was to be sadly disappointed!!)
  8. Some say he was hired by Disney to teach the actors how to handle the high performance racing ostriches... and was sacked for breaking health and safety rules by powersliding a camel... twice. All we know, is that he's called Nomad Stig!! He was originally going to be a stereotypical "Mysterious Desert Warrior" (inspired by the Iron Maiden song "Nomad") but then I spotted his similarity to The Stig (the "tame racing driver" off the BBC's Top Gear programme) and so Nomad Stig was born.... Cheers Greg
  9. Persian Post Station The real life Persians are credited with setting up the first proper mail service in around 500 BC. The system involved message carriers (called Chapar) riding between post stations (called Chapar-Khane), where they would swap their horse for a fresh one, before riding on to the next station. This allowed messages to travel at the fastest possible speed. My Chapar-Kane is based on a "Persion Version" of set 6689 (the small Post Station from 1985) Click for original. I used the basic layout and size of the original, but using modern parts, I've altered the colour, redesigned the roof (the "polished metal" will reflect sunlight so the message carrier can see the post from a distance) and swapped the bike for an ostrich (I was going to use a horse but the ostrich fits better in the small animal enclosure I added). The yellow/red flags are an homage to the original post office sign. I stuck to using Persian versions of the original minifigs - an ostrich riding postman and a female customer/member of staff. Thanks for looking - and good luck to everyone who enters... Cheers Greg
  10. That looks great... the colours go perfectly and I love the architectural details... it really does have that Middle Eastern feel to it. Has it got an interior? Nice work!!
  11. Stunning looking city!! I really like the way you've only used official sets (and the Statue of Liberty and Eiffel tower!!) Nice work!!
  12. Looks good so far... the only thing I'd change is the red floor for the upper storey (a different colour would break up the red) Thanks for sharing.. looking forward to seeing more.
  13. Great looking layout.... the buildings and vehicles are fantastic and go really well with the modular buildings (looking forward to seeing more... assuming the cats don't get them!!)
  14. That looks pretty good.... I love the statue and the background buildings - especially the grey one (church? Town hall?) Any chance of a pic of the rest of the town? The only bit I'm not so sure about is the trees though... maybe it's just me but I think they might be better with curved trunks.
  15. Great entries so far - I especially love the flying carpet effect on the carpet stall!!! (SuperBagel's hookahs look good too - I was going to do a hookah stall myself but I might think of another idea now )
  16. Great looking MOC's... I think my favourites are the Disney characters and the ships... nice work!!
  17. Nice looking town... I really like the mix of buildings you've got from various Lego eras!! I just wish I had space to set up a town too!!
  18. Thanks for the info - I don't know much (ie anything!!) about steam engines and based the model off a pic on this website... http://www.british-steam-fire-engines.org/...ant_models.html I think the unusual layout is because the pump was originally meant to be hand-drawn on a sort of wheelbarrow type trolley (I do intend to do a more "traditional" Steam Fire pump but I'm still looking for decent reference pics!!) Cheers Greg
  19. Hi This the latest in a series of old fashioned fire appliances I've been putting together ever since I got the Modular Fire Brigade (I had the idea of using it as a fire fighting museum for my town but I've now got too many exhibits to fit in!! So I'm going to have to see about building a new museum!!) This one is a steam powered pump which would have been used in the early 1900's in my Lego town. It's loosely based on the real life Merryweather "Valiant" design which was commissioned on behalf of the Royal Navy as a portable pump to be used on ships and yet easily transported ashore. (and named after HMS Valiant whose captain first suggested the idea) The original model could be pulled by two men and was used as a general pump, for firefighting and to power other machines using the rear mounted flywheel. Unfortunately problems with Lego and scale made it look too big to mount on a hand cart so I've built it a horse cart (which also solved the problem of carrying the hoses etc) Still a bit of a WIP so apologies for the hastily taken pics... thanks for looking... comments always welcome Cheers
  20. That looks great!! I love the interior details especially on the ground floor. Excellent work!!
  21. That looks great!!! I also like the way you've used the colour to emphasise the sense of depth... nice work!!
  22. Looks good so far... (it reminds me of the "Four Candles" TV sketch by the Two Ronnies! If you don't know what I'm talking about check it out here ) Can't wait to see the rest of the shop
  23. Brilliant work.... the building details, the tree and especially the figures are spot on (it really looks like part of a much larger scene) I especially like the rolled parasol.

    Hi

My name's Greg... I've been into Lego on and off since I was a kid (30+ years!). I'm just emerging from my latest mini "dark age", saw this site and thought I'd join. I like most themes... mainly Castle/historic themes and town/city and I've already seem some fantastic work here and hope to share some of my own MOCs... for now here's a quick link to my page on MOCpages and Brickshelf. http://mocpages.com/home.php/1310 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=greg3 Cheers Greg
