That's one of the best Lego hospitals I've ever seen... awesome stuff and it looks like a real world version (looking forward to seeing inside if it has an interior) Nice work!

Congratulations to all the winners... all very well deserved. And thanks to everyone involved in running the comp - I really enjoyed putting together my entries and viewing all the other creations... Cheers Greg

Hi Here's my latest MOC train, the Bee, one of a pair of 19 inch gauge engines (the other being the Ant) operating on a restored section of mine railway in Laxey in the Isle of Man. The original railway began in 1877 with the 2 engines taking over from ponies to haul lead and zinc along a mile and a half track. In 1929, the mine closed and the engines were scrapped but a section of railway has recently been restored and 2 replica engines now pull tiny passenger wagons a quarter of a mile along the old mine workings. I thought a small engine might be easier to build - but it wasn't!! If anything it's a bit oversized and it's still a bit of a WIP but I'm quite pleased with how it's come out so far. I might change the red for yellow and I need some wagons for it to pull and some narrow gauge track!! Reference pic Thanks for looking - all comments very welcome.. Cheers Greg

That looks great Tim... the larger scale looks more realistic and you got the "bent frame" design too!! but I'm short of space so I'm definitely looking at going the minifig scale narrow gauge route... my next train is even smaller!!!

Thanks for the comments (and the great reference pic LT)... the guard rails seemed to be dependent on type and use - some had 2, some had only one and a lot had none. (although the local version I based this on had 2 but I ran out of space at the back!!) The buffer appears to be more standard however and seems to be on almost all the ones I saw, unfortunately none of my attempts to recreate it came out looking right. Anyway, I'm currently looking for old style rails to make a narrow gauge version... Cheers Greg

Amazingly, after 30+ years of "Lego-ing" I've never bought, built or played with a Lego train!! Until now... inspired by the upcoming train sets (and the public transportation tram) I decided to get some wheels and tracks off Bricklink and have a go.. It's supposed to be a Simplex petrol locomotive based on a picture of one working on a local railway line and various websites etc. It might not be the Orient Express but I'm quite pleased with it and now I've got the urge to make more!! The first Simplex engines were made for the British War Department for use in the trenches during World War 1, After the war, production continued as they found use in a range of industrial areas. Many different versions were produced, both petrol and diesel types, although my version isn't based on any particular type but is a general interpretation. I found the trickiest bit to be the coupling mechanism... this was the closest I could get to the refence pics. Finally I put together a small truck for it to pull... Thanks for looking, all comments and criticism are more than welcome. (I don't know much about trains at the moment so any feedback will be greatly appreciated) Cheers Greg

Looks good!! I need more houses for my town and this one looks pretty good... nice details too... the BBQ, sun lounger etc... a definite buy for me!!

That looks brilliant... it wasn't until I noticed the plates behind the buffers that I realised it was Lego!!! Simply stunning!!!

Very cool!! I love the small everyday MOCs like these... so much so I might try something similar for my town!! Thanks for sharing

Hi I used this piece from Brickforge Reddish Brown Reins
-
Hi Thanks for the kind comments... I do like to base my MOCs on real life history whenever possible (the odder the better!!) The reins are from Brickforge. Cheers Greg

Feel free... like I mentioned it was just quickly thrown together (and as a result is a bit wobbly)... I might see about improving it at some point.

This very quick MOC was put together using a camel from the POP theme... Beginning during the Safavid period (1502-1736) the Persian army fielded camel mounted artillery. The first versions mounted large crossbows and the sound these made led to them being known as Zamburak or Zumbooruk (from the Arabic Zambur which means hornet) Later, they would be fitted with small cannons. To fire these, the camel would kneel and the gunner would dismount to aim and fire the cannon. In the 1880's a gattling gun version was developed and even today some camels fitted with modern heavy weapons have been used in Afghanistan. This version is based on a photograph I found of a Zamburak in India Thanks for looking - comments always welcome... Greg

I love this!! Such an unusual building.... both the interior and exterior look great!! I hope you keep on at it and eventually get it finished... nice work.

Looks great!! I especially like the little alleyway... and the artist is a great idea... nice work!
-
That looks fantastic!! A really beautiful building - I especially love the window design and the fact it's designed to hide your computer bits is genius!! (shame it means no interior though!!)
-
Neat little MOC... a lot more compact than the original and I like the idea of it being the merchant's house... nice work!!
-
Very nice!! I love your buildings (their size and open backs give them a real classic town feel) The street's looking good too (although if I'm honest I can't decide if I'm a fan of tiles everywhere or not... I think studs are part of the charm of Lego but then I see cool work like this and I'm not so sure) Anyway looking forward to seeing more!!

Nice little town!! I love looking at other people's layouts (and wishing I had room for one of my own!) I especially like the way you've used official sets with slight modifications and the way they all seem to fit together well!! Great job!
-
Looks great!! Cool looking vehicles - the tram looks interesting and I especially like the bus and the details such as the bike rack and the shop. Can't wait to get hold of it!! (Will the tram run on actual rails?)
-
Nice!! I especially like the water effect...

Cool I won something!! Thanks to those who voted for me (and of course Shadows for organising the competition) I really enjoyed seeing all the clever (and often bonkers) ideas everyone came up with!!! For my tag I'd like the camel please.... after all a camel is what got my avatar fired from the movie!! Cheers Greg

Looking good so far (personally I think the outside of the main building looks more like a shopping mall) but I do like the interior details!.... looking forward to seeing more. Nice work!!
