B-PV-05E Hi I recently picked up the latest hospital set (4429) with a mind to modify it to fit my small village (which is actually starting to look more town-like!) The result was this small doctor's surgery/clinic... although the basic layout was made using parts from 4429, I ended up using quite a few extra bits from my collection to improve the appearance and add some details. (making it a MOC rather than a MOD) Main view... the ambulance from 4429 does fit in the garage but only just, so i've use the doctor's car from a few years ago instead. (the doctor can use it for home visits and as a first responder vehicle for major incidents) Both vehicle and building need some stickers but I'm undecided on whether to use the modern blue EMT cross or go for a classic red cross... any opinions? Inside - apart from the garage, there's a small reception area where locals can get advice on minor ailments from the qualified nurse/receptionist. For more complex problems, the doctor can see patients in his examination room. (contains handwashing facilities, examination bed with adjustable overhead lamp, and a diagnostic computer (for checking blood pressure, heart rate etc) Here's its location, at the edge of the park in my (recently extended) village. Finally a street level view... I'm quite pleased with how it came out. I think it still looks vaguely like the original. However the more I look at it the more I think it would make a good fire station (housing a single appliance manned by retained firefighters) or even a police station. I might also enlarge it slightly by adding another 8x16 plate... watch this space!! Thanks for looking... comments always welcome.

Part 3797 (2x1 jumper) in trans-clear official?
greg3 replied to greg3's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the quick reply.... Now to go and order a batch! Good luck with your search for clear corner slopes!! Cheers Greg -
Hi Just a quick question... For a current MOC I'm working on, a 2x1 jumper plate in trans clear would be very useful... They seem to be available on Bricklink but I can't find any record of official sets containing them! Are these bits likely to be official or some sort of custom job? (just wondering as I try to use only official parts as far as possible....) Thanks in advance Greg

Thanks for the comments.... Unfortunately I didn't have the original doors (will have to look on Bricklink) so I had to make do with the roller door. And don't worry LT there's plenty more to come....

B-OV-38D After a break of a few months I've decided to get back to my small LEGO village.... I've been meaning to give it a garage/petrol station for some time but size has been an issue (I want to use official set designs but they all need too much room) but then I found an image of set 361 (from 1979!) and decided to recreate it as best as I could with the parts I have... and here it is - I think of it a small family business repairing cars/bikes and other mechanical equipment. (I added a petrol pump based on those in the Town Plan set) The building (just need some stickers for the roof sign and petrol pump) Side view Inside you can see I've added plenty of tools and a small workbench... Unfortunately many modern cars are too long to fit in the garage properly so an extension may be happening in the not so distant future but until then, if you need older vehicles, bikes, trikes, quads or SMART cars repaired he's your man!! Once I've added a few stickers I'll be adding the garage to my village (when I've decided where it should go!) Thanks for looking - comments always welcome!!

Hi Here's a few quick pics of the latest addition to the village... an old mine. Like a lot of villages near where I live, Ballabreek had a thriving mining industry over 100 years ago. This is one such mine, near the edge of the village but now long abandoned... The mine entrance... this is just a small mine that proved uneconomical to operate... Spoil heaps surround the entrance... And are used by the locals for off road trials riding... Comments always welcome... next I plan to have the mine reopened using the new mining sets (the locals will just have to find somewhere else to ride their bikes!)

Excellent stuff!! The outside has loads of interesting details (for some reason I really love the wonky drainpipe!) and the inside is almost perfect (I love the "mad inventor's" room!!
-
I've not really bothered much with the Friends stuff but this is a nice little model (could almost imagine it being an official set) I especially like the flower decorations (but how does Mia feed the fish and whatever's in the white/yellow cage? )

No petrol station... yet ! But I have just added a recycling area - I wanted enough space for people to park while they drop stuff off and room for the forklift to work. Still need to add the stickers but I think it looks ok so far... (the green baseplate will be swapped for a dark grey one) Close up of the bins and wheelbarrow storage space!! Had to modify 4206 a bit to fit it in and still have room for the forklift to get in. A "customer" (recycling AND a SMART car... how green can you get?!) Loading up the truck... Any comments are welcome... coming soon will (hopefully) be an abandoned mine - now being used for outdoorsy stuff (fishing, camping, walking, offroading etc)

Great looking building! Love the external details especially... (and the boardgame room is a cool idea) Nice work!
-
Brilliant!! Love the conveyor belt design and the choice of headgear - nice work!!
-
Very nice!! Great use of the corner layout and I love all the details (especially the gun locker!!)
-
Looking good LT!! I do like the way you've used the "bricks" bricks in the tyre dealer (simple but effective!) Looking forward to seeing more...
-
Great looking vehicles!! I especially like the 3 wheeler and the Blue Eagle!! (the blue repair truck brings back happy memories of the original - it was always one of my favourites as a kid!!) Nice work!!

Another update.... Well it seems that the people of Ballabreek have decided the space race isn't for them and the launch facility has closed/been demolished. Instead they're looking back to the past and the tramline has returned (but in a more modern form). The line w/crossing and platform. Close up of the small tram stop/platform. View into the village... More additions to come... Thanks for looking!

Absolutely fantastic! The exterior is stunning but it's the interior that really blows me away... Love the hexagonal tiles (very clever!) and the various bits of furniture.... Excellent stuff!

Excellent MOD. I like the first version best... Much better than using the forklift ( if my local store ever gets the recycling centre I might just " borrow" your design!) Nice work!

Finally an update!! After moving house a few months ago I've finally got round to rebuilding my village... the layout has remained pretty much the same (although I altered the park a bit) but now I have a lot more space so while keeping the original 2x3 roadplates as the village itself, I can now add extra bits on the outskirts (my plan is to keep the original village as it is but change these areas according to the current city/town themes. I'm hoping to get every theme represented at some point - not all at the same time time though!!). It's currently a small satellite launching facility based on the recent Space theme, but will soon become either a harbour or a mine!! New park layout (moved the cross and added a small branch of "City Bank") The satellite launching facility... set up by a local businessman to launch small commercial satellites. Uses parts from the Rocket Station (3368). I was going to put something (a statue or monument on the pavement beside the barriers but haven't got round it yet!!) As always comments are welcome... hopefully the next update won't be so long!! Thanks for looking.

Hi The stickers are Lego stickers... I had planned on making my own stickers (the actual buoys had the red crosses in White ovals) but then found these ones in an old ideas book and used them instead!

Saw these mentioned in a TV programme and thought I'd see if I could make a lego version... During World War 2, the Germans developed the first organised Air Sea Rescue Unit, the Seenotdienst. Part of the Luftwaffe, they developed equipment and techniques to improve the survival and recovery of downed aircrew. Among their innovations was the Rettungsbojen or rescue buoy (also called the Udet Buoy named after Ernst Udet the fighter ace who first proposed them) Essentially a floating survival cabin, each buoy contained 4 bunks, food and fresh water, dry clothes, medical supplies and signalling equipment (including a radio). The were anchored throughout the English Channel and painted yellow to make them easier to spot (and to try and prevent them being mistaken for U-boats and attacked. Unfortunately many of the buoys broke free of their mooring lines and ended up being washed ashore along the Channel coasts. Those that survived were used by both German and British pilots and ships of both sides would routinely check on the buoys (any enemy pilots were taken prisoner). Eventually the British developed their Air Sea Rescue Service, copying many of the German ideas. An access hatch in the turret led down into the hexagonal cabin. Large Red Cross marking were later removed as the British claimed that the buoys weren't covered by the Geneva Convention. Reference Pics Thanks for looking - all comments welcome. I'm currently trying to make a minifigure scale version!

Thanks... I've been busy with work over the last few weeks but I've got round to finishing the latest set (previewed a couple of weeks ago) The Temple Tribe are the masters of moving and building stone structures (a sort of stone age construction crew!). Here is their basic stone moving method... a sledge hauled on a wooden track way. The guy at the back uses a lever to help get the sledge going. They're stronger than they look!! The sledge The "team" (I imagined the guy in the cape to be the boss.. the other 2 are just hired muscle... I did consider using a cow instead (and pretend it's an ox but I didn't have one - might have to get onto Bricklink!) The next "set" will be a "stone circle building site" and we'll find out what they do with the stone blocks once they've moved them!! As always thanks for looking and all comments are welcome Cheers

Very nice!! Love all the little details and it's instantly recognisable from the start of the movie.

Nice little house... the roof has turned out great (gives it a bit of a tatty, lived in look) The only thing I might change is to get rid of the roof over the well (I think it takes up a bit too much space and detracts from the house) Nice work.
-
A "Cave Tribe" is planned and their cave is beginning to take shape.... However, the next tribe is going to be a Temple Tribe (the tribe responsible for building stone circles and other structures) Here's a sneak preview of their first set (still need to work on the minifigs and a few other bits) Thanks for looking (as always comments are more than welcome) Cheers

My next "Tribes" set.... a house for a River Tribe family. (apologies for the lighting in the pics.. still need to tweak a few bits but they give a good idea of the build) Overview of the house - built on stilts in a quiet part of the river... Simple wooden shelter with a roof of palm leaves... Rear view Removable roof for easy access. Inside you can see the sleeping area of fresh branches (for comfort and insulation) and storage basket. Large hearth/fire provides warmth, light and the ability to cook the family's food... Coracle allows the young boy to practice some of the skills he'll need to become a skilled fisherman... Just like dad... The family Comments always welcome... Thanks for looking (more Tribes "sets" coming soon! (hopefully!!)
