  1. and you have provided nothing that says its a hoplite either since the majority who know of hoplites think of them with the white leather armor as shown in my picture, in fact if you check greek hoplites 99% of the pictures will show that white armor since that was the common armor used thru out all of the city-states of Greece.
  2. The first pic you shoiw is what is known as the Hollywood Roman, that roman armor and design were not around for along time, but thanks to Hollywood they have inducted many non-truth seekers into thinking that is the only Roman design, wake up go learn something. as to the second pic, that is still nothing like the roman minifig since doubt even the spartans would clasp things onto their own skin, you will notice the mninifig is wearing a bronze cuiraiss with clasps on it towards the top of the shoulders. so squiz check more carefully next time.
  3. Quite a few actually, remember Roman soldiers were from all over the Roman empire (which included Greece). and as far as we know LEGO could call the guys Persians or whatever strikes their fancy.
  4. Actually I create Romans and Greeks along with Crusaders and such, in fact most of my Armies are one form of Ancient army or another.
  5. Well knowing LEGO they will want to be politically correct so they will probably call it Ancient warrior or such which will not resolve any issue.
  6. well the circular shield is not greek but is reminiscent of the Roman Round buckler used around 250-300 + AD, furthermore at best I would say the fig is a combination of the two but like I said mostly greek: here is a picture of a Roman Round Buckler: as to the nose guard there are Roman Helmets which are of the same design. you have to remember that the Roman's stole alot of armor designs from the Greeks and other cultures, also on this minifigs helmet look above the eyes notice the styling of the helmet there like a visor cover which is reminiscent of Roman helmets and not Greek helmets. in fact here is one such Roman helmet: This helmet was found in the UK amongst other Roman artifacts. here is another Helmet based on a Romano-sassanian style: and here is the Romano-sassanian style helmet: I could go on and on about how that is a Roman figure, but not much to back it up that its Greek, even the shield design is wrong since the Greek shield is concave, and this one is flat.
  7. well let me enlighten you on you and your professors ignorance shall I? here we have a Greek Hoplite: notice the armor and the helmet he uses. here we have the Roman soldier: notice the Helmet and Armor he has. now here is the collectible minifig: which does he look more like? as it goes your "Professor" is a fool if he thinks that minifig looks like a Greek, I have majored in Classical mediteranean Military cultures I know what I'm talking about, at best this fig is a culmination of about 500 years or so of various Roman uniforms. also it could be said its a somewhat combination of the 2 but its most definately Greek.
  8. nope Roman Centurion you should get to know the varying Roman uniforms out there. Romans used rectangular, circle and oval shields. Also there is nothing on that fig that says greek, from its helmet to its shield it screams Roman.
  9. well the Roman and the Egyptian are going to be the ones I'll be collecting myself, along with my gratuitous complete set too.
  10. well my TRU just got in 2 cases (4 boxes) of them yesterday, so think they are now going to be flooding the market.
  11. I might design me a case once I move into my new place within the month.
  12. Well trust me when I say LEGO is always quick on removing a listing once sold out usually within the day 2 at the most but has been listed on European sites for several days now after selling out and well over a day in the US, also wouldn't be surprised if they even offered a box listing (with 60 minifigs)
  13. SLBX2 while we appreciate your information about what LEGO technical support said they said the same thing about other items that were sold out and then magically had another supply show up, since the listing is still on their website, they are not sold out, you know an item is sold out when the listing is removed.
  14. Another thing to consider is LEGO is not known to use a mold for a one-off project so we might end up seeing some of these figs in themes in the future.
  15. well i'm willing to bet they will be back for the mere fact the listing is still on the site, if it was truly sold out they would have removed the listing already. even in Europe the listings are still there and they sold out a long time ago.
  16. oh I don't doubt scalpers won't make a profit right now but i'm thinking later won't be so easy to do, since a little birdy told me next week the market is going to be glutted with them, in fact Walmarts in USA are getting them with release of next week but some are already putting them out now (not in the toy section, well maybe some stores), so right now prices are high but soon will drop like a rock me predicts.
  17. I guess you forgot about the Dwarves mine, a "Limited" run set that saturated the market after the initial rush by people to buy them, then there was the UCS Millenium Falcon and so on I could keep going on for ever on how LEGO has lied to us about limited runs and such.
  18. thats what I've said LEGO has a past History of selling out of a Hot item and then less then a month they suddenly get another shipment from wherever and are able to list them. I Believe this is not a mistake on LEGO's part but intentionally done to create more sales if LEGO shipped out their entire stock they have they would have product sitting on their shelves and not selling, this way they are creating a demand causing people to buy more then they would, furthermore the term collectible is a falsehood since most companies that put out something and called it collectible it ended up turning out to be anything but, all this is, is just another marketing ploy by LEGO.
  19. Thats why LEGO bowing to the popularity of the minifigs will suddenly find a large stock they didn't realize they had.
  20. out of series one and series 2 series 2 has more figs that I would be interested in, in fact I am already setting money aside to buy cases of them, funny thing is I have a feeling the Centurion will have the most distribution per case of about 4-5 per case.
  21. but that was my point, like I said some will go up while others go down, its all a matter of desire by who buys what and furthermore other figs can be bought for cheap if bought overseas, the cheerleader and the zombie are going to be the high priced ones, now other then the ones I have in my 2 unopened boxs I could have bought more of those but did not since while their nice their not for me since I've already spent what I'm going to spend on these. furthermore many buyers are already getting theirs, if you look at previous sales none of the high priced ones are selling only low priced ones. and then there is my other context that we are about to see a major flood of these figures hit the market here shortly since found out my local TRU just got in 4 more boxs (or 2 cases) with orders to limit sales to 3-5 per person, also I heard from my friend he found some at the local Walmart too, now I haven't been there to check them out yet, i don't doubt his word. I think LEGO short sold these to create demand so they can sell them all, one thing I learned along time ago is if it says Collectible it is not collectible.
  22. heres one: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=bader&itemID=17374401 heres another http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=moctagonjones&itemID=17426194 shall I go for more since you obviously did not even bother looking and also since you only buy in the US where supply was much more limited then Europe had where you can find hundreds of figs for under $2 (and believe it or not Shipping is not that much more then from the US)its obvious you will not find many that are cheap, just like a certain seller I used to buy my armor and helmets from in Europe since his prices were like 1/10th of what the same items were being sold for in the US, if you limit what countries you buy from your only screwing yourself, furthermore you can buy whole boxs of these figs for less then what they cost here in the stores, and even in the US many sell for under $3 which is still good since the figs Cost about $2.75 at my local TRU, like I said before only a few will be priced high, while many will go down in price due to lack of interest in them.
  23. think Carbo needs to recheck BL since plenty of figs below $2 ea. and only a few over that and mostly by scalper sellers and such which I never buy from anyway. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=M&catID=746
  24. the problem is two-fold: 1: LEGO has sold short before then ended up flooding the market with the same item they sold out of and killing the item 2: the problem about these figs is the only ones who will buy are collecters and such and most will have their sets and only a few of the minifigs will go up in value, in fact on bricklink right now some figs are reducing in value due to no one wants them.
  25. well good luck, wouldn't be the first time LEGO S@H screwed up an order, but don't count on a box though.
