[Thrawn] Downfall Of Phoenix Squadron
Darth Stripy posted a topic in Watto's JunkyardLOTHAL SYSTEM, LOTHAL. SENTINEL BASE, ONE STANDARD DAY BEFORE THRAWN'S ARRIVAL... Holo transmission between Governor Tarkin and Emperor Palpatine... Emperor Palpatine to Tarkin: Governor, I received a report on a series of attacks by Phoenix Squadron on Sentinel base. Is this true? Tarkin: My Lord, the report states the truth. Palpatine(angrily): I expected better than this. You should have eradicated them by now, instead of being attacked Governor. Tarkin: But my Lord, the attacks were unexpected, and... Palpatine: Spare me the excuses Governor, I see that you are unfit for the task at hand, that is why I am sending Grand Admiral Thrawn to assist you. Tarkin(protesting): But your Lordship, I can handle this task without need Palpatine: Silence Governor! Perhaps I should send Lord Vader instead. Tarkin(afraid): There is no need my Lord, Grand Admiral Thrawn will be enough. Palpatine(pleased): Then so it shall be, Governor. I expect the situation to be resolved soon. Tarkin(very unhappy): Yes my Lord TRANSMISSION END SENTINEL IMPERIAL RESEARCH BASE ON LOTHAL, MISSILE RESEARCH DEPARTMENT, PRESENT TIME.... STAR DESTROYER CHIMAERA, CURRENTLY ORBITING LOTHAL. Assigned by Emperor Palpatine to aid Grand Moff Tarkin in defending the highly important missile base on Lothal, Grand Admiral Thrawn, along with his star destroyer, the Chimaera, have finally arrived in orbit around the planet. Boarding his shuttle, the Grand Admiral is prepared to crush the local resistance, also capturing key members part of Phoenix Squadron. The Lambda shuttle began it's landing procedure as it approached the landing pad. Shortly after landing, Grand Admiral Thrawn emerged from the shuttle, escorted by his usual security detail. Gazing around the airfield, Thrawn spotted troopers rushing to put out flames from the shield generator and the fuel tanks. Tarkin(unpleasantly,to Thrawn): Welcome Grand Admiral, to Sentinel base. We are honored by your presence. Thrawn(to Tarkin): Thank you Governor. Tell me, is there something troubling you? Tarkin(surprised): No, not at all Grand Admiral. Thrawn: We shall get to business then. Tarkin: Yes. Recently, there were a series of rebel attacks on our missile research base. Thrawn(Interrupting): So I heard. Tarkin(angry at being interrupted): Fortunately our defenses were enough to stop them from destroying the launch pad. The Emperor is very displeased. Thrawn: So that's the reason the Emperor assigned me here. Perhaps you can show me a few holo recordings of the attacks. Tarkin(unhappily) : Yes, we captured most of the attacks on the hidden holo cams as well discovering a phoenix insignia burned on a wall. Thrawn: Show me. Leading the Grand Admiral to the missile launch pad, Tarkin showed Thrawn the massive phoenix shaped burn on the wall. Thrawn: Interesting... After leaving the missile pad, Thrawn went to his new office in the research complex. Studying the holo recordings, a smile creeping onto his lips, Thrawn finally understood the motive of the rebels and their true target. Reaching for his comlink, he called Tarkin to his office. Tarkin: Yes Grand Admiral? What is it? Thrawn: Governor, I believe I have discovered the true target of the rebels. Tarkin: Really? What is it? The missile launch pad! That's their target! I will tighten the security there immediately! Thrawn: As I expected. You fell for their ruse. Tarkin: If it isn't the missile, then what is their target? Thrawn: Think Governor. The rebels obviously found the location of the missile. If they wanted to destroy it, the lab would be rubble by now. The attacks were a ruse to make us loosen our security in the laboratory so they can steal the technical readouts of the missile. Tarkin: So do I need to double the security in the lab? Thrawn: No Governor, still, prepare your troops. Tarkin: If I shouldn't tighten the security, why prepare my troops? Thrawn: I assure you Governor, if you listen to me, the rebels will be captured by the end of the day. Tarkin(Questioningly): Okay? So I'll follow your lead then.Thrawn: Good. Bring in some shadow guards as well, Governor. Tarkin : Why? Thrawn: I got a feeling that there will be Jedi present at the attack. RESEARCH LAB, COMPUTER TERMINAL, NEAR THE LAUNCH PAD, EIGHT STANDARD HOURS AFTER THRAWN'S ARRIVAL... HISSSSS... As the cut metal was pushed aside, Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, Sabine Wren and several troopers entered the laboratory. Ezra: Now that's easy. Sabine: The imperials don't seem to have even tightened their security. Trooper 1: Lieutenant, we found the technical readouts. Ezra: Extract them. Let's hope our luck holds out. Kanan: Be quick. I sense a trap. As the trooper extracted the technical readouts of the missile, the lights suddenly turned on and two squads of stormtroopers ran in, blasters drawn as well as two Shadow Guards and their Shadow Troopers. Grand Admiral Thrawn and Governor Tarkin soon entered the lab, escorted by Senate Commandos. Ezra: Thrawn! Tarkin: Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren and Kanan Jarrus, you are under arrest! Ezra(angrily): How did you know we are attacking the lab? Thrawn: I noticed that you found the missile launch pad, yet you did not destroy it.Kanan: And how did you know we will be here? Thrawn: I suspect that your padawan learner left the phoenix mark with his lightsaber, to tell us that Phoenix Squadron was behind the attacks.Tarkin: Enough with the chit chat, trooper take them away! Sabine(to Thrawn): No matter how hard you try, Grand Admiral, Phoenix Squadron will always be one step ahead! Thrawn: I don't think so, rebel scum. In time, it will be I who is the victor. He watched the troopers as they led the rebels away. Tarkin: Your reputation certainly precedes you Grand Admiral. Thrawn: I'll take that as a compliment. Tarkin to Thrawn: The Emperor will be pleased. Not only did we resolve this matter, we captured two Jedi for him as well. Thrawn: Yes Governor, he will be. Also, I received a transmission form the Emperor himself. Tarkin(nervous): what did he say? Tell me! Thrawn: You are relieved of your assignment effective immediately. I am in charge of the Lothal system now and the problem of Phoenix Squadron. Tarkin(very mad): WHAAAT! Thrawn(calm): The Emperor requests you to go to imperial center at once as well. Tarkin(fuming): Oh I will! --------END-------- Pics of the mocs Made a sliding door for the big moc, got a bit stuck in the middle. here is a video

[MOC] Battle of Geonosis
frumpy posted a topic in LEGO Star WarsHi All, Had a little bit of spare time last night so decided to do my first Star Wars MOC. It's not an overly complicated build but it was simple and fun to do. Might be the start of more Star Wars builds for me. Thanks

[Review] 75089 Geonosis Troopers
duboismerci posted a topic in LEGO Star WarsHello again everyone! Continuing to review the sets I bought during the May the Fourth sale. This is my last review of the 2015 winter wave as I don't have the other sets that still need a review and I don't plan buying them. They are: 75081 T-16 Skyhopper 75084: Wookiee Gunship 75086: Battle Droid Troop Carrier 75087: Anakin's Custom Jedi Starfighter 75090: Ezra's Speeder Bike If anyone could review these. Thanks! So now on to the review This is my third review : 75089 Geonosis Troopers Name: Geonosis Troopers Theme: Star Wars / Expended universe / The Clone Wars Year: 2015 Pieces: 105 Minifigures: 4 Price: USA 12.99$, ENG 11.99£, CAN 15.99$, EUR 16.99€ Ressources: Brickset Lego store description The front of the box with the new 2015 art: A stormtrooper helmet tagged with a rebel alliance crest. Your standard box art for 2015. On the back of the box, we see the play features and the number os stud shooter and the number of spare studs. Also shown is the clone troopers and the walker's features. In the box, the pieces come in 2 bags and with the instruction booklet. The instruction booklet with the same image as the box on the cover. The back with the win minifigure. Spare parts: mainly spare studs. It's a battlepack! The completed model. The walker with the new stud "gatlin" gun ready to fire! Side view 1 Side view 2 Top view Back view With the legs posed like it's recommended in the manual The walker as 3 features: movable legs, the "gatlin gun" and the opening cockpit. Here is the cockpit opened and closed. Closed The walker is unstable if both legs aren't placed the same way And now what you were all waiting for: The Minifigures! We get 4 of them; 2 Geonosis airborne troopers and 2 Geonosis troopers. The battlepacks comes with 2 different heads: the standard clone trooper face and another one with a different facial expression. The Geonosis trooper compared to the to the Kashyyyk trooper and Utapau trooper. We can see that the camo pattern is different then the Kashyyyk trooper. It has the same back printing as the one from the Utapau BP. Back view The airborne trooper compared to the Utapau BP one. Back view Rating ------ These three points are not included in final score. Price: 6/10 – 105 pieces for 12.99$ is above the 10 cents per piece ration. Also like other battlepacks with the gatlin gun, 20 of those piece are studs for the guns and the canon. Still we get 4 amazing minifigures and a small vehicule. Parts: 7.5/10 – Many of the pieces are studs but we get a nice assortement of pieces in geonosian tan that could be usefull for any desert moc. You love or you don't the new gatlin gun. Build 7/10 – The build takes around 10 minutes. No special technic are involved in the build. Battlepacks are about minifigures and not the building experience, so no surprise here ------ Design 5/10 – This walker is not based on any source material but we have seen enough walkers that we know how it should look or not look like. From the front and from the side the model does look good but looks bad from behind because of a complete lack of detail. There is only so much you can do with 50-60 pieces. You can fit 2 minifigures and their guns on the walker. The legs are movable, the cockpit can be opened and closed and the gatlin gun does shoot fast and far. Still it's a little hard to place the legs in display mode. (refer to image legs posed like it's recommended in the manual) If both legs aren't place the same way, the walker will be very unstable or it will fall. Besides, the walker can't stand on 1 leg and thus it limits the different poses it can take. It's an average build. Nothing amazing. Still it might bring some memories to some of the first walker of the very first battlepack released: the clone walkers BP. Minifigures: 10/10 – The minifigures are outstanding. The camo printing on both troopers is very detailled and beautifull. Printed legs, and backprint on all 4 minifigures. The airborne trooper helmet is also very well made and looks just like the source material. Troopers from a new clone legion is always welcome for MOCs and dioramas. Also we get 2 different faces wich is good for an all clone battlepack. Playability: 6/10 – Not much play features except for the gatlin canon and the opening cockpit. It's hard to set the legs in display mode and both legs must be placed the same way if not the model will be unstable or it won't even stand. The movable legs can't really considered a play feature in this case. Still the shooter is fun to use and so are the minifigure's guns. This is a one faction battlepacks. It's meant to be played with other sets so you can have targets to shoot at! OVERALL 7/10 – A good battlepack. The minifigure are definitively the highlight of the set as you would expect. Adding a new clone legion to your collection is always nice even tho some would have prefered a more "famous" legion like the Galactic Marines or the 501th. Seeing another variant of the airborne trooper is also very nice because the mold for the helmet is amazing. The vehicule included could have been better. In the end this is an above average battlepack with outsanding minifigures that carry a rather average walker. Thoughts and critiques welcomes! Also if there is any grammar mistake burning your eyes, please PM me and I will edit. Thanks for reading!
[Review] 75088 Senate Commando Troopers
duboismerci posted a topic in LEGO Star WarsHello again everyone! Continuing to review the sets I bought during the May the Fourth sale. So here is my second review : 75088 Senate Commando Troopers Name: Senate Commando Troopers Theme: Star Wars / The Clone Wars Year: 2015 Pieces: 106 Minifigures: 4 Price: USA 12.99$, ENG 11.99£, CAN 15.99$, EUR 16.99€ Resource: Brickset Lego store description The front of the box with the new 2015 art: A stormtrooper helmet tagged with a rebel alliance crest. Same as the other sets of the winter wave. On the back, we see the troopers in action, the number of spare studs included and the play features of the canon. In the box, the pieces come in 2 bags and there is also the instruction booklet. The instruction booklet has the same image as the box on the cover. The back with the win minifigure. Spare parts. Mainly spare studs for the guns as you can expect from a battlepack. The completed model. The canon is equiped with the new stud "gatlin" gun. Side view 1 Side view 2 Back view Top view The legs can be adjusted Legs down Legs up The canon can be aimed up and down. This is the lowest angle it can be placed in. We now move to the minifigures: the highlight and purpose of the battlepack. We get 4 of them. Three senate commando troopers and one senate commando captain. The captain as a different face from the 3 other troopers. The 3 troopers have the clone face from other clone battlepacks. The captain as some white painting on his helmet, torso and leg. The back printing is similar. Rating ------ These three points are not included in final score. Price: 6/10 – 106 pieces for 12.99$ is above the 10 cents per piece ration. Also 20 of those piece are studs for the guns and the canon. Still we get 4 great minifigures that were really expensive on the aftermarket because they were released in only 2 sets years ago. Plus the canon is a nice little build. We are use by now to this kind of pricing for battlepacks. Parts: 7/10 – 20 of the pieces are studs but we get 7 pieces in republic red and only 2-3 technic pieces. The "gatlin" canon is a really nice piece. Build 7/10 – Nothing fancy here. The building process will take you no longer then 10 minutes. No special technic are involved in the build. ------ Design 7.5/10 – Since the canon is not based on any source material it's difficult to compare it. Still, with the colors and style we have no problems imagining this canon as an anti aircraft gun that would be around the senate protecting it from attacks. The canon looks great overall, but the side of the barrel (Image: side view 1) could have been better. Also, some might find it too "bulky". It looks more like a mortar then a canon. Minifigures: 9/10 – The 4 minifigures are amazing. Printed legs and printed back torso. The fact that we get a captain and 3 troopers is great. Its nice to have a captain. It adds diversity to the battleback but they still look good displayed together. Only complaint: we should have goten 4 different faces since the senate commando troopers are not clones. Playability: 7.5/10 – Like other one faction only battlepacks, it complement other sets really well. By itself you can shoots the canon and play with the troopers but you will defenetly need bad guy to shoot at. The shooter on the canon rotates on the sides and up and down. It works really well and shoots far. Kids should have a blast using it. OVERALL 8/10 – A nice little battlepack. The minifigures are great and so is the canon. Its not everyday we get a senate related sets and non clones troopers of the prequel era. In fact this is the first prequel battlepack wich does not contain any clones. They look great standing next to Palpatine in his office and you can make an Emperor arrival moc PT style. This is an above average set that you should pick up if you would like to add to your republic force with non clone elements and a neat canon. Thoughts and critiques welcomes! Also if there is any grammar mistake burning your eyes, please PM me and I will edit. Thanks for reading!
[Review]: 75079 - Shadow Troopers
kr-lik posted a topic in LEGO Star WarsHere's another little thing from me :] Set Name: Shadow Troopers Set #: 75079 Theme: Star Wars Pieces: 95 Minifigures: 4 Year of Release: 2015 MSRP: USD $12.99 So... I went to the SMYK store again ;) found this set there so I just HAD to grab it. Also not really a bargain but I didn't care ;) Box/Instructions Standard, small box. I think it's the same size as for all the battle packs. The same with instructions. Nothing of interest here. Parts Set contains 95 pieces. There are two bags - one bigger one smaller. There's quite a lot of transparent red parts here. I don't think there are any unusual pieces here. We do get the beloved (by everyone ;) blasters here. Also set includes additional 8 "bullets" :] Minifigures I guess this is the main reason to buy the battle packs. Here we have 4 figures, all exclusive to this set. We're getting 2x Shadow Trooper and 2x Shadow Guards. They both look really nice. The coloring on the Shadow Troopers is very neatly done. It's somewhere along the dark-gray print on a black pody piece? It looks pretty neat + the helmets are totally awesome. The Shadow Guards look OK. They don't have faces, so the heads are one big red brick. They also don't have any printing on the back. As much as the characters are very interesting... the figures don't do them justice in my opinion. The build Well, the set is really small so the build took about 5 minutes. The vehicle tho is actually REALLY nice. I thought that this set would interest me more in terms of minifigs, but the speeder or whatever it is, is actually very neat as well. I really like how they did the front and the back of it. It can carry two minifigs and has two missiles. The competed model Not much to say here... just a small photo :) Overall opinion Small but very satisfying. As much as I don't care for battle packs I do care about the Empire! ;) Having interesting minifigs + as it turns out a very cool speeder. This set was not only a "meh" buy for me. Because of it's price, I'd say don't hesitate. Minifigures: 8/10 - Shadow Troopers are really cool. The Shadow Guards tho are a bit "meh". Parts: 6/10 Build: 6/10 Price: 10/10 Design: 10/10 Playability: 9/10 Overall: 49/60 = 82% P.S. I'm sorry for the dark pictures. I decided to buy a "no-shadow-tent" or whatever you call it in english tomorrow so maybe I'll have some better pictures soon.
