    [ENTRY][LARGE] Steve's Hideout

Steve's Hideout (UPDATE) [ENG] This set was originally a redesigned version of the 1795 Imperial Cannon. Then I saw this Classic Pirates challenge and thought I'd enter with the peace of mind of the underdog. I slightly modified the set to fit the callout. I hope you guys like it and vote for it. There is, of course, a golden rod hidden on this island. Story: Steve has been a merchant ship captain for many many years. He has always been reliable and has been the most punctual transporter despite the weather obstacles. He knew the sea perfectly. He survived huge storms, avoided many battles. But today, a new and brutal enemy had struck, and so she could not escape her doom. On one occasion he was on a detour route to port when his ship was shrouded in fog. Knowing the sea, he sailed on and only belatedly realised that this fog was in fact the remnants of a gigantic battle. The multitude of shipwrecks indicated that this was a gigantic battle. The silhouette of a ship was silhouetted in the fog, but before he could identify it, the ship had opened fire. His swift ship tried to dodge, but he had no chance. The incoming cannonballs tore the small ship apart mercilessly. Another volley of shells brought in the fatal shot and the ship was swamped. The only survivor was the captain. For days he was tossed about at sea among the remains of the battle. He pulled himself up on a large piece of wood and left his life in the drift. His great good fortune was to be cast towards a small island. He knew the place. It used to be a small outpost for imperial soldiers. It had been abandoned for a long time, and its condition showed. But his luck had not deserted the captain here, for the remains of the battle were drifting nearby, and he was able to get some rum, food, and weapons. He even found the flag of his ship, which he pinned to the remains of the building to mark this as his territory. Maybe one day a ship will come by and rescue him so he can sail the seas again as he once did. [HUN] Ez a készlet eredetileg a 1795-ös Imperial Cannon újragondolt változata. Tökéletesen ismerte a tengert. A becsapódó ágyúgolyók könyörtelenül megtépázták a kis hajót. Yes, I know Steve's outfit has changed, but I have other plans for this version, which is why I was forced to do this. But that doesn't stop him from being Steve!
  2. Escape from the Imperial Trading Post On just another day in the Caribbean Steve, the Merchant, arrived at the Imperial Trading Post on his trusty Cutter sailing for profit and adventure. Soon after disembarking his vessel, Blue Coats of the Imperial Soldiers raided the Imperial Guard’s Trading Post. In the Chaos of the attack his ship was seized by the enemy. Wishing to avoid becoming a prisoner of the attacking Blue Coats, and with no other means of escape, Steve decided to accompany a few members of Captain Red Beard’s crew, as they scaled the cliffs down to a waiting Dingy bound for the Skull’s Eye Schooner. [ENTRY] 6273 Rock Island Refuge Remake

After buying Eldorado Fortress, and not having bought Barracuda Bay when it came out, my brother and I thought about making a pirate build to go up against Eldorado Fortress. After looking at the classic pirates hideouts and forts, we decided upon Rock Island Refuge. So we bought the Redbeard and crewmates from Barracuda Bay off of bricklink, and started building. Similar to Eldorado fortress, Rock island refuge can take its classic form or turn into an elongated shape, perfect for displaying. The fortress has a full interior including a kitchen, desk for Redbeard/mapping area, a treasure stash hidden under a trapdoor, an armory, sleeping quarters and a prison cell, which can be broken open using a lever. Outside there is also multiple docks with a cannon, a crane, two ratlines on the sides and two rope bridges. There are also 2 watercrafts, a raft and a small bluecoat rowboat Overall, we love the final product, and hope you do too
  5. For this contest I wanted to make something unique, LEGO already reintroduced Pirates with 21322 and now Imperial Guards with 10320 so we needed a 3rd faction. The Islanders, and what better set to remake than 6278/6292 Enchanted Island. This set has 1398 parts 8 minifigures (7 of them have new exclusive prints). I tried to keep as much of the original while using new parts and techniques. (my first version)
  6. And here is the final end result! I am very pleased, but not completely satisfied with the end result. A little tweaking here and there may be done, but for now, I am ready to present it! 7. This is my final update, the ship is complete and ready to set sailt. There are some minor corrections I am going to make to the build further down the line, but those shouldn't be noticable. This is going to be my entry for the contest, a remake of the classic Skulls Eye Schooner. Sporting 4 cannons, three masts and striped black sails, the Skulls Eye Schooner outgunned and outclassed the Black Seas Barracuda. The dashing colorscheme strikes fear into the hearts of merchants and soldiers alike! A remake of this beloved classic seems almoust sacrilegious, though I never owened it myself and don't want to start a collection of vintage sets. Therefore, a remake has been in the back of my mind for quite some time. The name of the ship is rather inacurate, not beeing a schooner at all. Nevertheless, I decided to keep its original sailplan with its square-rigged fore- and mainmast and a lateen sail at the mizzen. The original set is typically stylized, with its high fore- and aftercastel and a low waist. I interpreted my version as an early 18th century corvette type vessel (e.g. https://www.modelships.de/L_Anemone/L_Anemone_photos.htm ) with an open gundeck like the original. I used a slightly updated version of the hull construction I developed for my bluecoat sloop and elongated it a bit. I changed the original colorscheme to some degrees, i replaced the brown hull with dark tan (out of necessity, due to the parts not beeing available in reddish brown) and the red accents with dark red. The green gunports were a bit to much for my taste, so I changed them to black (also because the only set to ever feature the green flag pieces was the original and because I don't own it and don't want to pay the prices for those pieces). The build has 1800 - 1900 parts, wich doesn't seem to much out of proportion for a Lego-Set (Considering that the original Eldorado Fortress had <500 parts and the remake has >2500). I don't have the energy left to edit some kind of box art, but I have made some sails (still wip, I'm gonna digitalize them to correct the designs, but the dimensions are fitting). IMG_0070 IMG_0072 Here are some details of the set: A hidden treasure on the island IMG_0074 The open gundeck, the cannons can be run out or pulled back to close the gunports IMG_0075 Storage compartments IMG_0077 The captains cabin IMG_0078 And finally some hidden gold onboard IMG_0081 Thank you all for your suggestions and may the tides be with ye.
  8. Hello! This time I combined two classic sets, Pirate Treasure 1873 and Smuggler's Shanty 6258. This is a small island where life goes on and there are traces of greed and a few skeletons to show for it. There are also several hiding places to stash your loot, gold bars and gold coins. Soldiers about to dock bring the pirates their pay for a job well done. On the island there is a fisherman who sells his wares, a tavern of course, a shelter for the captain, a defensive cannon to keep out intruders, at least until the pirates escape. But are there still drunks lying on the beach who can't understand how the rum ran out again? And let's not forget the old man pushing his wages on the little cart, waving to the barman that he'll soon be able to pour another batch of wine. Flickr Instagram
  9. My contest entry is a remake of the 6279 Skull Island in the style of Barracuda Bay, and El Dorado Fortress. This set has 652 parts, and 8 minifigures, compared to the original set’s 350 parts and 6 minifigures. The main focal point of the “Skull” Island is the skull itself, I had many iterations until I settled on the current design. I wanted to keep it simple, to update the design as well as keeping it close to the original as well. It can also turn, allowing row boats entry into the island. I wanted more of the “mountainous” aspect of the island so I brick built them rather than using big ugly rock pieces like the original. I also added an extra beach along the right side of the build and another palm tree, as I felt the original felt a bit empty. Inspired by the original set, I have re-imagined the side wall of the island where two muskets can be found hidden among some palm leaves and vines! I really liked this play feature in the original, and it is my favorite part of the build! Opposite of the muskets, sits the treasure for safe keeping. Along the dock are various boxes and supplies for the pirates, as well as cannons This time around, they are built on modern turntables, keeping to similar to the original. I feel it makes the island more imposing. I added an extra cannon to the top of the pier, as I wanted to add more firepower! I added stairs in this remake, as I always wondered how they brought supplies up and down from the top of the balcony by ladder? A crane and chain bring up the heaviest of boxes to the top with ease! I also added a more enclosed captain’s quarter with a door. In the shallows of the island are two rowboats, one pirate crewman bringing in the latest plunder back to the island, as well as the Imperial Guard. The roof of the captain's quarters can be removed as a play feature, and can allow access inside. The original Skull Island did not have this feature, instead had large arches for ease of access, but for my remake I wanted to be able to have a more realistic style building, without sacrificing upon playability and looks. I have designed the railings where it matches perfectly with the stairs!* I recreated the original pirate minifigures to more updated styles, as well as one I designed. I also added an extra imperial guard to the entourage, as I feel the officer would want some extra muscle. I’ve never really made an MOC like this before, so I am very pleased with how it turned out! I was so inspired by so many other contest entries, it made me want to throw my hat into the ring too! Please let me know what you think, i’m still pretty new, so let me know anything I can improve or fix. Thank you!
  10. Return to Classic LEGO Pirates with this updated 2023 version of set 6281: Pirate's Perilous Pitfall! Model contains about 2400 pieces and would retail around the same price point as the 2023 Eldorado Fortress. With 5 minifigures, 2 animals, special features, and 6 play functions, hours of adventure await! Model separates for a wider view and open play access: Additional connection points are included on the edges of the main rock structure to allow for other models to be attached to expand on the set. What is the meaning behind this spooky skeleton? It may warn of dangers ahead! Use the rock steps to access the platform: Watchtower includes climbing ladder, a table and seats with a treasure map, and a hiding place for a chest of treasure at the bottom: Crystals and stalactites fill the interior of the cave and rusty iron spikes protrude from the rocks beneath the bridge: The golden crown is kept safe in the throne room. What secret does the throne hide? Pivot and fire the cannon on the dock, rotate the tiller of the sunken ship, and keep guard with the stern deck swivel guns: "Cut" the ropes to allow the mast to topple! 1. 2. 3. Pull the rope to lift the bridge! 1. 2. 3. Step on the bridge trapdoor and fall onto the spikes below, releasing the boulder avalanche! 1. 2. 3. Pull the pin to release the throne trapdoor and drop unsuspecting adventurers into the prison below! 1. 2. 3. Look out for the crocodile if you try to escape the prison! 4. Pull the string on the back cliff to lift the trapdoor and push in the pin to hold it in place: 5. 6. I hope you enjoy this Classic Pirates set remake! Link to full image album on Flickr
  11. Hello! I entered the competition to make a remake of the 1889 Lego Pirates set. Hidden in a small cave in the rock is a treasure chest full of diamonds, covered by a door made of vegetation. But just in case someone does find the treasure, a small gold bar has been hidden away as an emergency stash. More pictures on my insta account, because it simply won't allow more. MyFirstMOC Insta

    [ENTRY] 6279 Skull Island - Remake 2023

Hello! I thought again about set 6279. It was one of the first islands where pirates used to keep their assembled treasures. It got its name from the skull carved into the rock (and painted white for some mysterious reason). They are in a fever over a small boat that has gone astray, even the captain stumbles out of his abode, albeit in a slightly illuminated state. There are two cavern "doors" leading into the rock, and the skull itself can be removed for playability. The set is modular and the roof of the building is removable, and the rest of the residence can be removed in two sections to reach into the cave from above. 3 cannons protect the island. True, these are not big cannons, but they can be effective enough. Some may notice that only yellow flowers cover the island, where there are flowers. There is a very simple reason for this. Yellow is the captain's favourite colour, and he has systematically wiped out all the other colours of flowers, leaving only the yellow ones. In addition to the treasures, a skeleton of a man who was once one of the captain's men is hanging at the front of the cave. But unfortunately he got greedy and encouraged his companions to mutiny. The captain quickly put an end to this mutiny and had this man executed and hanged. Since then, no one has attempted such a thing. You can also go to the top of the cliff where the only woman is currently standing. She's the one spying through the telescope at sea for the enemy. She signals with her pistol in her hand if she sees an intruder. Flickr Instagram
  13. Hello! I'm running out of sets (especially since there's more than one that someone else has already made and I don't think I could create a better one) that I'd like to revisit, but this one is still here. And this is the 6246 Crocodile Cage remake. I increased the set dimensions a bit to get the detail I had in my head. I added one more native, because I think there's plenty of room for it in this area. The top of the set is modular and there are also some movable parts, like the rock that hides a golden trophy or the secret door at the back of the cave. In the cave are the skeletons of a couple of stranded pirates and the skulls of two natives who died in battle. Instagram Flickr
  14. Hello! This is a redesigned version of the 6259 set, with a more modern look. In addition to the two soldiers, the set also features a captured pirate. A small desk, treasure chest and escape route from the prison have also been replaced. The roof of the building is removable and modular. Instagram Flickr

    [ENTRY] 6254 Rocky Reef - Remake 2023

Hello! This time I reworked the 6254 Rocky Reef set for the Classic Pirates tournament. There are two pirates and a skeleton in the set. The island and the cave were once inhabited by natives, but the pirates felt it would be a great island to hide their treasure and took over the place. The only traces of the ancient inhabitants are the small totem detail left at the back of the cave and the skeleton in the cave. Of course, what pirates would they be if they didn't have a little place to hide an emerald right now. The roof of the cave can also be removed for playability, and there is a small jetty on the island, if you bring supplies for the two pirates by boat, you can untie it. Instagram Flickr

    [ENTRY] 1492 Battle Cove - Remake 2023

Hello! Now I'm thinking again about the 1492 Battle Cove set. The garrison that once had its better days is now in total ruins. Two pirates were originally on duty on the small island, but one stole a gold bar from a hidden treasure chest and quickly hid it before his partner shot him. His skeleton can be seen at the edge of the beach. Flickr Instagram
  17. My last (propably) entry is a remake of another small, yet living in infamy, set: 6245, Harbour Sentry: There are so many things wrong here, which I decided to fix. First of all, the laws of Physics defying giant cannon on such a small boat. Second of all, why Lieutenant De Martinet, a high ranking officer of Imperial Army, and right hand man of Governor Broadside is rowing the boat by himself? Surely he would designate such menial task to a low ranking lackey. And he doesn't even have a place to store his personal weaponry, he had to clip his pistol on the cannon, and carry his cutlass on his lap. This is unacceptable! So, let us turn this dinky ol' dinghy, into a true, bona-fide gunboat! ARRRR, Now, that's more like it! A sturdy, yet smooth and curvy rowboat, with a small, yet still functional howitzer as a main weapon. There's plenty of space for De Martinet, one of his Marines, an amunition barrel, and any accessories and weapons our brave Lieutenant would need when patroling the docks of El Dorado Fortress! Hope you like it me mateys!
  18. We have seen the return of infamous Captain Redbeard in Pirates of Barracuda Bay, but where was his loyal First Mate Rummy? Propably had too much rum again, got marooned on a ramshackle Renegade's Raft, and woke up in the middle of the ocean, fighting with a big shark, and an even bigger headache, just like before, in a set from 1991: But now, the raft have recieved a substantial update: Why just have a flimsy flag and a pair of paddles, when you can have a full Gaff rigged sail, a steering Oar, and fishing rod! Rummy was also wise enough to bring a compass and spyglass to know where he's going. A parrot also perched on the mast top, so old Rummy has someone to talk to, and there's a bottle of unknown contents. Might be drinking water, might be the remainder of his rum binge that ended in this misadventure, or something else? You decide! Overall, it's a simple redesign, of a simple old set. Hope you like it me Mateys!
  19. So, I had a lot of ambition, and good ideas for my studless remake. Originally, I was going to do a studless version of set 6957 Solar Snooper, a set from my childhood. Unfortunately, my mental illness kicked in, and I was left at a week before the original deadline with no model to enter. But, I wanted to build something, so I looked at Technicopedia for inspiration, and landed on set 858 Auto Engines. This set is unique, because as many Technic sets feature an engine, only this one is dedicated to engines. The model I chose was the 'Boxer" engine, as that is one that I could improve on, without adding any functions. Now, the original engine is not actually a boxer, as the pistons do not reach top dead center at the same time. In addition, a 6 cylinder boxer should have the pistons clocked 120 degrees apart, which would have been impossible to do with the parts at the time. With all of the advanced parts introduced since 1980, I was able to correct both of these issues. Now, the engine is a proper boxer, with the pistons clocked 120 degrees apart. Aside from that, there is one other major functional difference. On the original model, the distributor is just a rotating shaft that does not actually do anything. On my model, I was able to add a rotating contact piece that connects to each of the spark plug wires in sequence. The engine also has a belt driven fan, just like the original. My model also features the detailed exhaust pipes and spark plug wires. As for scale, I think my model is about 50% larger, given that I used 3 stud diameter pistons, versus the 2 stud pistons of the original. But, the scale increase allowed me to make the crankshaft and pistons much more realistic and functional. Believe it or not, the fan was actually one of the biggest sticking points for me in terms of what to use. No brick built fan felt right, so I used the fan tail from 8068, which is actually a repurposed wheel cover. Unlike the original, the belts are configured in such a way that they can be added easily, without any bent paper clips. Size comparison with 42123. My engine is roughly the same width, and about 2/3rds the length. LDD cutaway to show the crankshaft. Video:(No Sound) https://bricksafe.com/files/Saberwing007/tc20-studless-858-boxer-6-engine/20210808_175126_1.mp4 So, that's my entry, a new version of the 858 Boxer engine.
  20. It's finally here - my studless remake of the very first Technic helicopter: It's been a bit of a long journey to get here, not only because of the work put into this model, but also because of the many failed TC15 entry ideas... Originally, I had planed on building a replica of the Hoversurf S3 2019 Hoverbike (which is basically a quadcopter you can ride on), but the small size of Lego propellers restricted me to such a small size, that I just couldn't fit any functions into it. Next, continuing the idea of some sort of quadcopter, I did some googling for other quadrotor aircraft, and although I managed to find some (in particular, the Curtiss-Wright VZ-7 and X-19), that idea also failed... Then, after a few days of thinking, I decided to just make something completely different - a flight simulator, based on the 8485 Technic Control Center. With this idea, I actually managed to make enough progress to post a WIP topic, and stuck with it for a several weeks, until I sadly had to abandon that as well... Finally, after trying and abandoning a few other ideas, and with only a few weeks left before the contest deadline, I stumbled across the idea of making a modern studless version of set 852 - the very first Technic helicopter, and one of the original four Technic sets released in 1977: Fast forward 3 weeks, the contest deadline has thankfully extended by 2 weeks (thanks @Jim ), and I've finally finished building... Features: Full studless construction - not a single stud in sight! Near perfect 3/4 scale (relative to the original set). Accurate collective rotor pitch control - unlike the original, where the rotor pitch is decreased when the swash plate rises. Manually powered drive train - can also be motorized, as seen in the video. 21. I really liked Nexo Knights, and I really liked all the little nods towards older castle themes without established locations potentially taking place in its world. So, I decided to try and create a Nexo Knights-refurbished version of two classic sets from the Fright Knights using LDD: Witch's Magic Manor & Night Lord's Castle, albeit combined into one, so that the Magic Manor serves as a sort of hideout/base under the Night Lord's Castle. The bit that I am currently stuck on is a suitable castle gate. The simple wooden doors of the official Knighton Castle set looked a bit weird, and as such I am trying to create a more sci-fi looking portcullis structure or portcullis alternative, in tr. neon orange of course. So far, I have tried using a bunch of 30064 stud/stick pieces (difficult to create a suitably sized structure without running into difficulty connecting the two sets of bars into a structure that can move as a single piece), the large sword pieces from Clay's mechsuit (as with the original use, strange-looking due to the lack of depth combined with the pattern and width) and finally the 4218 rolling gate pieces (serviceable, except the only source of these in tr. neon orange is over two decades old, and I'd like to actually be able to build this thing in real life at some point). If anyone has any recommendations, I'd be glad to hear them.

    Black seas barracuda rebuild

Hey guys, iv always loved the black seas barracuda, and last year decided to try remake the kit from my childhood. I got as far as bricklinking the the hull and masts before realising that to have an original would be financially unviable because I wanted it in mint condition. Thus I realised that if I was to have one, I needed to reimagine it. With the brick bounty having redbeard at the helm of his new ship, I tried to imagine how the ship would look many years later, with a newer more tenacious crew. (Note- two surviving crew members looking s little different) anyway, hope you all like, comments and criticisms appreciated. https://ibb.co/cpXiKJ https://ibb.co/j31URy https://ibb.co/gePutd https://ibb.co/f59oKJ https://ibb.co/mruAYd https://ibb.co/kJVCeJ https://ibb.co/jHwkzJ https://ibb.co/mQdFzJ https://ibb.co/d7x8KJ

Fits about 6 Minifigs inside. For a scale comparisson i included a 1/43 scale model car i recently finished aswell. Hope you like it, comments and critics welcome, more pics will follow... Alienator Redux (MOC)

Internal report: Alienator-type Units Organization: Blacktron Its purpose is causing an unignorable distraction so as to allow the strike force it carries to sneak into secure locations while local forces are occupied dealing with the vehicle. Its heavy armaments are capable of dealing significant damage to most forms of armor, and its thick plating and layered reinforcement makes it difficult to damage. Usually crewed by one armored trooper and two pilots, one of which is redundant and as such is usually part of the strike force. Equipment contained on an average Alienator-type unit is wire cutters, grappling equipment, welding tools and a hand-held circular saw, along with a variety of weapons and in units planned for long-term deployment (although it must be stated that due to their large and noticeable appearance, long term in this context refers to periods of at most 1-2 days), rations. The displayed example's armory included one small plasma pistol, one recoil-neutralized handheld railgun, a blade suited for underhand wielding, and a bashing/disarming ring upon recovery. Play features: removable roof, windshield opens, classic shuffle-walk mechanism, deployable ladder and ball joint mounted stud shooter turrets. This one was rather fun to make. I stole the foot design from Nexo Knights' Stone Colossus, and while I initially planned to make the legs flexible enough to walk normally, once I realized that I could actually use the classic mechanism I just had to. Of course, this is entirely unbuildable in real life due to the fact that I built this with little to no regard for the availability of certain pieces in certain colors. I just really wanted to make something focused mostly on aesthetics. Gallery LXF download (once public)

    [MOC] 60117 alternate mocs

Hi, I've made several alternates using just the pieces from Lego city 60117 set. 1.Dump truck. Euro style dump truck with balanced color scheme. 2. Convertible. Some neat SNOT windscreen positioning and other stylish details. 3. SUV and trailer. Sleek looking SUV with a functional trailer. 4. Explorer VAN. Same like in the original design a VAN but this time it has higher clearance is more suitable for off road exploration 5. Cabrio. Dialing in some wild snot segments in the construction so that the lady has herself a cool and fast cabrio car. Thanks for watching!
