Hello to everyone I present you my last creation : Strange Fruit an adaptation of a poem / of a song in Lego. Strange Fruit (Illustration of Adel Meeropol's poem) by TheBrickAvenger, sur Flickr Southern trees bear a strange fruit Blood on the leaves and blood at the roots Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees Pastoral scene of the gallant South The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth Scent of magnolia sweet and fresh Then the sudden smell of burning flesh Here is a fruit for the crows to pluck For the rain to gather for the wind to suck For the sun to rot fort the trees to drop Here is a strange and bitter crop Composed by (aka Lewis Allan) 1937 1939------------------------------------ Deeplinks : 1-2-3-4 ------------------------------------ Following the lynching of Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith , the sad but famous photo of their murder marked many people of whom Abel Meeropol. He wrote then in 1937 the poem Strange Fruit, the real hurting indictment of the lynching, which he published under Lewis Allan's pen name in the magazine "New York Teacher" and the communist newspaper " New Masses ". A little later, he put the poem in music. This poem was finally taken back by the Afro-American singer Billie Holiday who interpreted it for the first time in the Café Society in New York in 1939. This poem counts among the artistic indictments of the lynchings usually practised in the South of the United States. The term " strange fruit " moreover became synonymic of lynching. Here is thus my interpretation of this poem, in particular inspired by the movie " Of Mice and Men ", I voluntarily wished to add it members of the Ku Klux Klan who were at the origin of numerous lynchings... The Art, under all its forms, allows to express the creativity, to deliver messages, to educate, to illustrate, to depict, but also to denounce, to criticize, and not to forget, Lego is art. "It has come to my attention that Sebastiano Ugliano is dead, and his killers are in this room, disguised as members of the Council. I'm leaving it up to you all to find them." "Each day you will vote to lynch each other. The person with the most votes will be interrogated and likely killed. We'll start tomorrow". Mercutio declares as he walks off. The Heroic Knight creeps up into her room, raising his sword... And her head is sliced off, revealed to be that of Medusa. Mercutio and Fluffy greet the guests in the morning, wearing suits of iron. Oh, and Eric Escalus is wearing a wig made from My Little Pony Hair as well, after reading Paris' blog. "Congratulations, you've caught two scum". The Gangster laughs, as he holds his gun up to the rickety, loose, billboard-support. BANG!! Laurence didn't see the billboard coming, and as he is smushed, his true spirit is revealed to be the Grandma Visitor. As morning approaches, Mercutio consults the other guests. "As you guys know, Laurence and Brittney are dead. Seeing how Laurence wasn't a Monster, it's safe to assume that he was a loyal member of the Council" "Oh, there's Brittney's body too.Yup, she was also Council. TrumpetKing and Hinckley are proud to present..... Oh no! The famous Minifigure Artist Sebastiano Ugliano has been murdered! The Council of Minifigures has decided to hold a gathering in the exquisite "Hotel de Booticcio" to discuss the matter of his death. In order to keep the identities secret, the Council has disguised themselves. The main leader of the Council, "Mercutio Robertson" (His handle), has used his common sense to decide that some of Mr. Ugliano's killers, The League of Monsters, have disguised themselves a members of the Council. Therefore, he has locked down the hotel to find and defeat the monsters in hopes of bringing MiniCity to justice. The Beginning "Finally, I am halfway done with my sculpture of the Heroic Knight." Medusa: "Too bad you won't be finishing! Mwahhahahah!" *BANG!* And thus, we start our scene. "Fluffy! What has happened here?!" "Fluffy, contact the Council immediately". The Rules 1.
