    Stanley's Steam Car

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Thanks Jipay; It was hard to fit the tires over the wagon wheels; I've seen it done quite a few times before, and was surprised at how much force was needed to get them on! The arches are attached with 1/2 pins (a builder's best friend! ) The whole thing is a structural nightmare, though.

    BrickFair 2009 (version 2.0)

I'll be there; my first event. I plan on bringing a few MOCs, too, including "Warehouse District Shootout", "Stagecoach and Buffalo", "Stanley's Steam Car", "Fulton's Revenge" (A big steampunk ship, should be posted in a couple days.), "Bot-O-Matic", a soon-to-be-finished remote-control moon rover [if I can finish it in time!] and maybe a couple other things... I look forward to meeting some fellow EBers.

    Lunar Industries Ltd.

A small vignette based on the new film Moon, featuring Sam Bell and Gerty [emoticon-less, mind you, as I wanted to go purist - a way around it was to use a glow-in-the-dark cheese slope so at least it glows like a computer screen would] in a section of the interior of the Sarang Mining Base. Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0j_ONmVcXA Lunar Industries Ltd. Logo: Thanks.

    Stanley's Steam Car

Thanks for the feedback fellas. Well, it's not a historically accurate model, but it's based on Stanley Steam Cars; for example: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pairadocs/2477663776/ I guess I just forgot the exhaust pipe; simply put, the mudguards didn't end up fitting over the wheels; technically they should be over the wheels, but instead they rest more closely against the body of the vehicle. Again, not so historically accurate.

    Pachycephalosaurus

Oh boy, I hope "dinosaur" is a "historic theme"! This is my first brick-built dinosaur - my personal favorite, the (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachycephalosaurus) Pachycephalosaurus. This particular creation is unlike many other creations of mine for a couple reasons, one being the scale, and two being the rough texture [notice the use of 1 x 1 round plates vs. 1 x 1 (square) plates and the exposed studs.] Thanks!
  6. Ok, this has to belong here. It has to. If not, you've got your work cut out for you Sir Dillon. "An explorer and his guide stumble upon a sinking temple deep in a Cambodian jungle." Obviously inspired by the hindu temple from Disney's "Jungle Cruise" along with some temple found in Disney's Animal Kingdom [Anandapur, respectively] and Angkor Wat - this is kinda a history/fiction crossover. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/1-161.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/5-93.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/7-51.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/9-26.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/sirnadroj/4-116.jpg All pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/ Thanks!

The Lost Temple Of Angkor Wat

Thanks for the feedback everyone - it's appreciated; just a note, the green SNOT is supposed to be swampy water (very tranquil and serene); this picture should give you a good idea of my inspiration: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cdomenig/182764481/

    Quartering The Quartermasters

Vig. 39d Those nasty, snarling pirates thought it would be a fun prank to give the imperial forces a taste of their own medicine by having them drawn and quartered. And they were correct. This MOC is built on a 16 x 16 trans-clear baseplate. Thank ye.

    The Bringer of Jollity

I wanted to build something with both a retro-space and steampunk style so I came up with this. "We join our hero in another intergalactic quest of cosmic proportions! Travelling in his rocket, The Bringer of Jollity, he lands in a clearing on the mysterious planet. What strange manner of life shall he lay chance upon today" All of the pictures can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/ Thanks!
  11. (I assume this fits better here than in Sci-Fi, yes?) Anyway, this is just a steampunk lab/workshop/factory. Two main "sections" All pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/ Thanks!

    Congratulations Hinckley!

My face lit up when I read your name on the list. Way to go!
  13. Hello fellas! I've always wanted to build a totally brick-built hull [i,e, not using the hull element] so I started yesterday. Today, however, I wondered what a hull would look like that was both sculpted and paneled with angled tile sections. I'd never seen it done before, so I tried it, and I kinda like what I see, so I'll probably run with it. These photos are very rough, so no need to point out the obvious that is missing. Side: Stern: The picture doesn't show it too well, but you can see that is creates a nice rounded shape, and a neat planky texture. This project is really fun - by the way, this isn't actually going to be a "pirate" ship, but I thought it would fit better in this forum for my fellow shipwrights to see. :pir-skull:

    Sculpted and Paneled Hull/Ship WIP

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I know what the ship will look like in the end, but I don't know how to classify it. I suppose it'll be schooner-esque. Here are a couple more pictures: Actually I've built some ships in the past - nothing too great, though. (I had in ship in my PTV entry, I've built the Dutch whaling vessel, and the H.M.S. Gaspee - those are my recent ships, anyway.) They all used the bulky hull elements, though. Yeah, his is similar - both are studs out, but his is more sculpted vs. my use of hinges. I did note the upside-down thing browsing through the ship archives, but it was too tile-intensive for me. Thanks!

The Manufactory of the Schizo Viscount of Crowthorne

Thanks for the feedback! I can agree about a lack of a focus point, but as far as the overall composition goes, I'll have to disagree. The mirrors and lined up with the chandelier, while the foreground supercedes the background nicely with the variation in color from greys for the steel and brown for the wood [i can't mix up color for the wood besides browns and reddish browns] while asyemmtrical details like the tesla coil and desk mix up the workshop space. I know more than anyone that LEGO is an art medium - I consider it one before anything else, so I certainly stand by my work as far as it being art goes. I appreciate your feedback, but naturally I'm going to defend my work. I may turn out MOCs at a seemingly quick pace, but I do put lots of time into them. Sometimes it's not best to look at a MOC from an artistic point of view - I mean, what's more artistic, this or something that I build to be artistic, like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sirnadroj/3611879573/ Not everything I build is meant to be "artistic", but many are built simply to be representations of whatever I'm going for - in this case, a steampunk lab. But thanks for being honest.

    Bot-O-Matic

It was supposed to be more steampunky, but turned a bit into retro-space. I suppose he's pretty generic, but I think he's kinda cute. Thanks

    Pariah Parlor

A wacky scene. (with some Eylar-esque photography. ) Thanks.
  18. Turkish delight on a moon-lit night! Every gal in Constantinople lives in Istanbul not Constantinople, so if you've got a date in Constantinople, she'll be waiting in Istanbul! (Love that song by They Might Be Giants.) A quicky to show off the sweet, sweet fezs. http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x222/si...oj/istanbul.jpg Thank you thank you.
  19. Pepper's Ghost: an old optical illusion (the same one used by Dinsey in the Haunted Mansion attractions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepper%27s_ghost ) Set in a victorian "Game Room" (Game meaning taxidermy and pool), this MOC uses said illusion to manifest some minifig ghosts! (Any doubled ghost is a direct result of the glass' thickness; something I cannot control.) But I'm still happy with the end result. All the pics here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/71914 Thanks.

    Rise of the Antichrist

This was originally going to be The Apocalypse according to Joel [one of my favorite prophets of the Old Testament] but it kinda morphed slowly. This is my rendition; you can see, however, there are a few details that can be found in the Book of Joel; the ground quakes, pillars of fire and the swarms of "locusts" [yes, they're ants, but pretend they're locusts!] Keep in mind this is just another "quicky filler MOC." I'm no Brendan Powell Smith. A couple notes on the MOC; all of the rocky parts fit in together for a more realistic pattern. The red pillar is, of course, supposed to be blood [a surreal representation.] The moon/planets are stickers from the Discovery sets. Thanks.

    "By The Pale Moon Light"

Here's what Dollar Bill's ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=agt023 ) hair looks like on the Joker... much more classic - better than the "Dracula" hair, I feel. Thought I'd share this with you! Thank you.
  23. Here are some misc. creations using Space Police elements. The Marvelous Jet-Powered Automatron The Human Form (this is the back torso of "Snake" - the yellow, cycloptic alien) This isn't custom, but note the "Blacktron" graffiti. Thank you, thank you!

    "By The Pale Moon Light"

Thanks for the feedback. This is supposed to be the Burton version, not the Dark Knight version by the way. Yes, a quick bricklink search yields my source: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID...2&colorID=5

    The Grand Architect

For MECHA Hub's Civilian Mecha Contest - the creator of the universe. "Forging exsistence, With steel pointed claws, Planets of ore, Of hatred and scorn. The Grand Architect, Carries the worlds. But who, dare I ask, Forged this mech of rancor?" Thanks as always!
