    DC Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Looks like Lego isn't quite done with the Burton Batman movies just yet if this turns out to be legit. I'd love if we'd get a minifigure scale version like we did with the GWP Batmobile from last year, even though the Batwing from last year's Riddler Heist set was practically that.

And let's be honest here, it's Batman. Lego isn't going to pass up the chance to make more Batman sets, especially with all the hype this movie is currently getting with it being the most talked about thing to come out of DC FanDome. Lego has made sets on a bunch of adult oriented content in recent years, so this shouldn't be an issue for them in the slightest. Reeves also brought up yesterday that all the main characters and villains are still in their formative years, so they've just recently started out like Batman has since he's only in his second year during the movie, and they'll grow into who they're meant to be as the story progresses throughout the movies. And I'm pretty sure the Riddler in this version is modeled after the Zodiac Killer, right down to his costume.

I can easily see Lego making a set based on that scene in the trailer where Batman is using the Batmobile to hunt down Penguin. One build for the Batmobile and one for Penguin's car and you basically have a set right there that I'm picking up the moment it becomes available.

Welp, another CW variant minifigure. It's a good thing I could care less about those shows to be mad that it's a US exclusive (but the nerve of Lego/Warner Bros./whoever made that restriction to say that when they're giving it away at an event that's been repeatedly toted as a worldwide event is just astounding).

I think it's mainly because they still have Will Arnett on standby to do some voice work since he hosts the Lego Masters show, and because Batman has much more appeal to kids instead of original characters like Emmet or Lucy.

They definitely seem to have some designers that are fans of it considering this would be the third minifigure that is based on how they looked in The Batman. First the Kabuki Twins, then Firefly, and now (presumably) Man-Bat. Now the wait begins for minifigure versions of Rastafarian Joker and Marilyn Manson's Riddler.

He does indeed have an alternate face, it's just a standard angry face with his teeth showing.

Might be the weird opinion here, but the MVP of these sets for me are those capes. I thought it was some new plastic piece that was only in the Penguin set, but not only does it come in all the sets, they threw in ANOTHER one that represents Batman's cape flowing in the wind. I have been waiting for something like this for years, they're finally getting creative with the capes which are much better substitutes than using the bat wing jetpack piece that came in the 2013 Arkham/2017 TLBM Scarecrow set. I am definitely picking up the Batmobile and Penguin set just for those, and Bricklink Nightwing and Batgirl separately.

I just find it funny that after years of getting oversized brick built Batcycles from as far back as 2008, we're finally getting one that's just a regular Lego City motorcycle with a black fairing piece and a Batman logo slapped on. I don't really mind it though, sometimes keeping it simple is the way to go. I've been waiting for a Batman set to use it as a Batcycle ever since that fairing was introduced in 2015. Reminds me of when the first Lego Batman game used Nightwing's cycle from the original Arkham set as the game's Batcycle instead of the brick built one from the Harley Quinn Hammer Truck set.

Well on the one hand, these sets have some enticing new pieces like that glider wing piece in the Penguin set. And if I'm not mistaken, the Nightwing we're getting looks like he's black and BLUE. If his torso was red, it'd be way more noticeable. The new Batgirl is sweet too, I guess Lego decided to skip her Burnside costume in favor of her latest one instead. Biggest disappointment probably has to be getting the Rebirth Batsuit AGAIN. I really thought that Lego would finally take this chance to make an updated Hush Batsuit so that they're synced with the current comics, but nope, just reuse the Rebirth Batman minifigure and call it a day. It seems Batgirl and Nightwing can get new minifigure designs, but apparently not Batman. I think that Man-Bat figure is based on his appearance from The Batman 2004 cartoon now that I look at it.

It took me the better half of last year to get most of the original Batman sets off eBay and BrickLink, all sealed in some form, and even then I had to go through months of bargaining and auction watching just to get them at a price that wasn't insane. The Bat-Tank set was the only one that didn't come with the box, stickers, instructions or the actual tank tread pieces, but everything that was needed was there in the numbered bags, most importantly that exclusive Bane. I'm only missing the UCS Batmobile, the Batcopter, and the Tumbler, but they came with repeat minifigures that are in other sets so I'm not too hung up on getting them (though I wouldn't mind owning the original Tumbler). Besides those, I have every single hero and villain from that line...which would be great if half of them didn't suffer from poor production errors like misaligned torso prints or scratches on the heads/torsos, forcing me to buy replacements for them on BrickLink where they're anything but cheap. Finding a replacement Alfred torso is probably one of the biggest pains considering how much he goes for in a New condition. I found it weird that the minifigures I got from the 2008 wave were perfect with their printing quality but the 2006 wave was a nightmare.

To be fair though, the Batmobile is the only vehicle that Bruce seems to have endless makes and models of in the actual comics canon.

I feel like we'll never really get a *proper* Arkham that features every major section unless it's something like the D2C Hogwarts set where it's microfigure scaled in order to get all the important details. For me, the D2C 2013 version remains the definitive minifigure scale Arkham Asylum. I still have it built to this day and it still holds up immensely, it's like the 2009 video game recreated perfectly in brick form. The intricate details like the brick-built gargoyles, using slope pieces to represent a broken window, a stained glass window design, and the way the entire thing looks so imposing as one big structure instead of being broken up into sections like the 2006 Arkham, it really can't be beat. The 2017 Arkham may have a lot more stuff packed into it like a cafeteria, a visiting room, and way more cells to put the villains in, but it just doesn't do the same for me aesthetically unlike the beautiful gothic architecture design of the 2013 Asylum.

Yeah, I highly doubt Lego is going to end their partnership with DC after what happened when they did that the last time. They discontinued the original Batman theme back in 2008 because it was apparently a poor seller and then watched as the sets quadrupled in value online, no doubt thanks to the release of the first Lego Batman game plus the immense success of The Dark Knight bringing Batman back into popularity with the general audience. And I have a feeling that history is going to repeat itself soon enough with the new Batman game from WB Games Montreal that was supposed to be announced at E3 this year, as well as The Batman being one of the most anticipated movies of 2021. As much as people don't want to admit it, Batman is mainly the one that brings in the most money for DC. And with the stuff that's in store for him coming up, Lego isn't going to stupidly end the line like some people here are desperately trying to prophesize.

I'm a little amazed at how Lego had the nerve to label the Shazam minifigure included with the Blu-Ray as a "Limited-Edition Exclusive". It's even more of an insult to injury that they put a picture of the figure right next to the movie version which features that superb arm printing, dual molded legs with the boots, and even a gold trim on the cape. There is nothing "exclusive" about a minifigure that came out last year and is available in a set that is STILL on store shelves this year, besides the fact that this version comes with hair instead of a hood (and even then I would consider the set version to be more valuable because the hood piece in white isn't all that common). This would've been the perfect chance to finally get a Black Adam minifigure, even if he would've received the same detail downgrade that Shazam got.

True, I probably shouldn't be reading "leaks" from people that believe customs are legit.

Disappointed but not surprised. Lego seems to have this weird habit lately for the DC and Spider-Man sets of sticking the exact same figure that came out the year prior in a new set. Batwoman last year, Robin and Mr. Freeze this year. I'm not too broken up about it though, I never liked his New 52 look with the exposed arms. Besides, I already have the Juniors version and the 2006 version which are pretty much perfect Mr. Freeze designs anyways. Also, the guy that said this about Freeze on Instagram said that he's "pretty sure" that the Nightwing we'll be getting is his Rebirth design from DC Super Villains...but in red, which makes zero sense to me. If they really wanted a red Nightwing again, why not just bring back the New 52 minifigure from 2014 instead of inaccurately changing the colors of his Rebirth suit? Does this mean I have to wait for another Nightwing polybag with the proper blue colors like the 2016 version?

Then they decide to go full Bendis and make teenage Jon instead of kid Jon.

Alternatively, painting it black would make for a solid Red Robin cowl.

Or in some cases, no sets at all (yes I'm still a little peeved we never even got a single Shazam set). But I feel like The Batman will be the exception and we'll get 3 sets for it instead of only one.

This year's sets has to be the one that it comes in, I tell you. How much longer can they continue to use the Rebirth Batsuit minifigure (the light OR the dark grey version), by this summer it'll be 2 whole years that Bruce has been wearing the Hush Batsuit in the comics.

Hot damn, that looks even better than expected! Though when I meant standard cowl I was talking about the long eared version, but the overall figure looks perfect.

Has anyone tried switching out First Appearance Batman's hands and cowl for black hands and a standard cowl to see how it looks? Since Lego doesn't seem to want to give me an updated Hush Batsuit anytime soon, this would be the next best thing.

It IS a stunt Batsuit, that's the stunt double wearing the suit.
