    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Slowly but surely the info keeps coming, now just to wait for the eventual image leaks. I feel like the Bike Chase set is going to have brick built motorcycles if it has that many pieces, at least for the Batcycle since the front would have to be an entirely new piece to match the "ears". The Batmobile set having a lower piece count than I expected makes me wonder if Penguin is going to get the car that he was in from the trailer or if most of the build is only going to be focused on the Batmobile itself. I'd rather take the second option than having the build split between two vehicles which results in a poorly detailed Batmobile compared to the masterpieces we've been getting with the '66, '89, and Tumbler sets. Excluding the Duplo and Juniors versions, this Batcave is going to be the one with the least amount of pieces to date. Though I don't really mind that since this Batcave is made up of various little sections instead of the standard Batcave design with a big Batcomputer, costume transformation area, and a jail cell like with every comic Batcave set we've gotten in the past:

1414falconfan clarified a little more and mentioned it being "similar to Dom's charger" with a picture of Battinson's Batmobile, so I'm willing to bet it's going to be that one. Technic has never interested me and I've never bought one of those sets before (unless you count the 2001 Bionicle Toa sets that were still under the Technic theme), but I might just make an exception here.

Well according to brick_clicker on IG, we're getting a Batmobile from the Technic line for $100 next year.

When it comes to Electro for me, nothing will ever top his design from The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon. Turning his entire head into electricity and having it resemble his mask from the comics was the perfect modernization. I never liked it when some designs took the cowards way out and put the mask pattern on his face like it was a type of facial scar. But I'd really like to get the classic masked version as a minifigure (eventually) just to have it match and complete the classic Sinister Six designs from the 2016 sets. As for Rhino, it only took 6/nearly 7 years since his last appearance in 2015 to show up again, so it's about damn time he gets another shot. I would've preferred if he came in a regular comic set with his classic appearance that uses a standard grey big fig body instead of making him look overly armored, but beggars can't be choosers. I just hope he's still a big fig in this instead of a regular minifigure and doesn't look too kiddish, but his look in the show isn't giving me much hope. On the bright side, at least he's a guy in a suit in it instead of being in a Transformers mech again. The design kind of looks like a chibi version of how he appeared in the Web of Shadows video game when you put the two side by side:

I think I read somewhere that it'll be January 2022, but knowing Lego sets that means they might even start showing up as early as December of this year. That's just my guess/hope though.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

FINALLY, some type of info on the sets! And unsurprisingly, it's what everyone already predicted would be coming. I always thought that the $70 set was going to be Riddler's lair, but getting this new version of the Batcave is more than welcome (it's super unique too since it's in a train station terminal this time). The minifigure selection has some surprises for me on the other hand. I really thought the Batmobile set was going to just have Batman, Penguin, and maybe a random goon. But getting Gordon is a perfect bonus that'll make it a day one buy along with the other two sets. The Batcave including Bruce Wayne and Alfred is great to see too, especially given Lego's strange habit of never putting in Alfred in either of the comic Batcave sets from 2012 or 2019. It seems like Lego wanted to cover all the bases and put all the major characters in these three sets. The only one we're missing is a Carmine Falcone minifigure, but I guess his role in the film won't be that big.

While it's nice to see that DC will also be getting the Art treatment with those giant mosaic sets, I wouldn't mind getting some descriptions or even set names for The Batman sets at this point considering it's been happening for the other big themes lately like Star Wars and City for their January 2022 sets.

The box is bigger than I thought it would be, but this review just made the wait for my pre-order to ship even more agonizing.

Also I feel like they included her because of the Birds of Prey movie that came out at the same time this series was out.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Whoops, should've been more clear in my post. Yeah, I was referring to the classic Wonder Woman vs Cheetah set. I brought it up because it reminded me of the SDCC 2019 "Dark Knight of Gotham City" set that was the same thing with not containing any exclusive figures, was a little diorama build, and the only things exclusive about it were a single tile piece and the box. But strangly enough, that set goes for minimum $300 on eBay while the Wonder Woman FanDome set is still at a much more reasonable price of around $40-50. I guess I'm just a little pessimistic that if the FanDome exclusive is something Batman related this year, it's going to go for a much higher price than the Wonder Woman set from scalpers.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Speaking of pissing people off, what are the chances of Lego making another exclusive figure for DC FanDome this year, as well as an exclusive set that'll only be available for the US? If they do, I have a feeling it's going to be something related to The Batman since it's the next movie in line like how last year's set was a tie-in for Wonder Woman 1984. And because I'm obsessed with the movie, I'm going to have to deal with scalpers and their insane prices on eBay in order to get it thanks to Lego's mindset of thinking only people in the United States would want a set like that instead of making it a worldwide release.

No, the head is the same one that's been used since the DC line started in 2012 and the torso has slightly different details than the 2014 Tumbler version.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

"Congratulations, you're I'm a prophet." Nearly 4 months of waiting since this was first reported back in May, and all I can say is wow. Wow wow wow wow WOW. This was my most anticipated set for the remainder of this year, and it delivered big time. This Tumbler is probably the best minifig scale version we've gotten to date hands down, even surpassing the original 2008 version. I'll still hold a soft spot for it, but this one just beats it in every way. The size compared to a minfigure isn't gigantic like the original, or pathetically tiny like the 2013 Bane Tumbler, it's just right. And the details...where do I begin? New rear tires that look identical to the ones on the actual vehicle in real life, perfect shaping all around, adding a piece to the middle of the windscreen that gives it that split window look, and one of the biggest things for me is the extremely detailed interior with space to actually fit 2 figures. It's like the 2008 Tumbler, but scaled down without sacrificing any of the details that made it great. It makes you wonder how Lego ever approved the 2013 camo Tumbler that had none of this, it looks even more terrible now than it did then. Of course there's the obligatory stud shooters, but those look like they can easily be removed. When it comes to the minifigure selection, I'm SO glad I turned out to be right. I always associated the Begins suit with the Tumbler since that was the suit that Batman wore the most when he drove it before it got destroyed, and Batman Begins is my favorite movie out of the trilogy, so it's like this set was made for me. An updated Begins torso design was amazing enough already (and it's NOT dark grey, thank God) as it now gives people the chance to get this suit if they missed out on it with the 2014 UCS Tumbler, but then Lego went a step beyond that and included a Fear Toxin Demon Batman head that you could swap the regular head out with. And as a bonus, this head will be extremely helpful with making a custom Batman Beyond figure. Nolan Scarecrow FINALLY appearing in a set is like a dream come true, even if his head is printed instead of a helmet type of piece, but it's still surreal to actually get him instead of another repeat Joker. My only gripe with this set is the strange omission of a display stand for the Tumbler, I really thought Lego was on a roll here with the display stand idea. But it's not a big deal since I can just make one from the instructions from either of the two Batmobiles, it's just going to be missing the sticker with all the info on it. The box art for this as well is a really nice touch, recreating the Tumbler chase from Batman Begins with it on a rooftop while a helicopter searchlight is in the background. With this set, we now technically have one set based on all the three movies in the trilogy (if you count the 2008 Tumbler set as being inspired by The Dark Knight that is). I remember reading a forum page on here from when the 2006 Batman theme was starting, and a lot of people wanted Batman Begins sets. It only took 15 years, but they finally got their wish. This is going to be a Day 1 purchase the minute it hits 12 AM for me on October 1st, maybe I'll even buy 2 copies. And with that, essay over.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Well it's about time another website revealed it since Lego was taking their sweet time about it. The Tumbler itself looks 95% similar to the 2014 design, but with some better details and shaping. But the minifigures are, as usual, the highlight. That Batman minifigure...now THAT is a figure that looks worthy of being called a convention exclusive with all that detail. It puts the NYCC 2011 version to shame with not making the torso printing grey and going all in on the all black detailing. The leg printing too is just *chef's kiss*. However it is a shame that the head is just the same one from 2012, even the Batman Begins figure had an exclusive Bale face printing, and using a Juniors cape instead of a regular cape is a choice. I'll definitely have to find a way to get the torso and legs though, those are the most important pieces here. And it looks like I was right about getting vest/Interrogation Joker, but in the wrong set. He definitely looks like he has a new face printing, I can't believe they reused the same hair from the 2014 figure with all the advancements they've made with hair pieces since then, but I guess it still works. That vest printing and the hip printing is going to make this figure very desirable, it reminds me of when I used to see custom figures of this design back in 2009/2010 as a kid. Now this opens up the possibility of getting full purple coat Joker in the minifigure scale Tumbler. And speaking of, now that we got pictures of the UCS version, we should be getting pictures any day now of the actual Tumbler we've all been waiting for...right? That set is coming out before this one by a whole month for crying out loud.

Plus it's been 4 years since we last got a Scarecrow minifigure with The Lego Batman Movie, and 5 years for a regular Scarecrow from the DC line with that Harvest of Fear set. I could easily make my own purist Liam Neeson Ra's by grabbing a Qui-Gon head and putting it on a suit torso, at least we'd get something unique with a Cillian Murphy Scarecrow like a new head for his mask (or maybe even a helmet type piece that could go over a regular Jonathan Crane head). And if Lego really wanted to make it special, they would put him in his "costume" that we very briefly saw in the final act of Batman Begins instead of just wearing a suit.

Nope. It has a regular set number instead of one of those special GWP set numbers, and I remember seeing it listed on Walmart's website before it was taken down so it's definitely going to be a retail set.

Thankfully no, the three that we know of are all regular sets.

Now this just made things more interesting. If the D2C Tumbler is getting the Dark Knight suit, I wouldn't say no to getting an updated Batman Begins suit with the other Tumbler. Just please don't make him dark grey again Lego, it's getting annoying. And if Joker is reserved for the big set, this might be the chance to get another villain from the trilogy like Scarecrow, Two-Face, or even Ra's al Ghul. And since I said that, watch it turn out to be another Bane.

I was just about to say that there was another post that said they're both in the UCS set. Does that mean the minifigure scale version will still get figures, or will it just the Tumbler itself like the GWP 1989 Batmobile?

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Finally, SOME type of news at last! @lego_fulcrum posted two images on his IG of Ledger's Joker and the Dark Knight suit Batman. It probably doesn't mean much, but he chose an image of Ledger wearing the full purple coat instead of the vest look he had when he was in prison, so I guess that means we're getting an updated version of the 2014 minifigure. I'm still freaking out over the fact that we just might finally be getting an all black Dark Knight minifigure, it only took a decade since Lego made one as the NYCC 2011 exclusive and they gave us a dark grey variant of it twice as compensation. Now the only question is if these figures are for the D2C or minifigure scale Tumbler.

Those are rookie numbers, I check it every half hour every day. It's starting to get really weird that we're getting closer and closer to the release...and not a single blurry image of the potential minifigures or the box has shown up yet, these things usually leak months before the release date and the eventual HD pics.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

As someone that just managed to finally get this set sealed (for way more than I'd ever thought to pay for it, but not as bad as one eBay listing I've seen that wants $1000 for it), I completely agree. I'll take getting a single incredibly detailed like this or a 1966 Batmobile (actual vehicles that are from the movies/comics) instead of 3-4 sets with made up vehicles like a Bat-Dragster or a Bat-Buggy that are just a waste of parts and look stupid to boot. If I'm being honest, it's starting to get a little annoying to see all these other sets/polybags from other themes that are coming out in the Fall get leaked or revealed, yet there's still nothing for the minifigure scale Tumbler. It's now two months away from it's supposed October release and there's not even a placeholder search result for its instructions showing up on the Building Instructions page on Lego's website when you type in 76239. Now if it was just going to be a poorly made model, I wouldn't really be constantly checking Instagram for pictures. But after seeing how much accuracy these Batmobile display stand sets get with the '66 and '89 Batmobiles, it's probably my most anticipated set that's remaining from this year. The innovations that Lego have made from 2008 are exponential, and while they needed to make the Tumbler oversized back then in order to get in all the details and shaping, I feel like they can do that now but they won't have to make it as gigantic so it'll be more size accurate to how small the Tumbler is in real life. And don't even get me started on the minifigures that might come with it (if there will be any and it's not just the Tumbler by itself). A proper black suit Nolan Batman instead of dark grey, and probably a new version of Ledger's Joker if they're using the same selection as the 1966 Batmobile, which I wouldn't mind at all since I missed out on the 2014 UCS Tumbler. Or Lego could finally surprise us and include a Nolan Scarecrow or Ra's al Ghul since the Tumbler had the most focus in Batman Begins compared to the later two films, and those two were the villains in that movie.
  24. TheBatstan

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Maybe give the comic sets a little more appreciation since that's without them the movies wouldn't even be possible? That's all I'm pretty much asking at this point. I mean, the Bugle is a comic set and it's back to being Sold Out again on Shop@Home. But I get it, a business company looks at what sells, and MCU anything can sell at this point.
  25. TheBatstan

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Eh, for me it's practically been the same with the Marvel side since they throw all attention to the MCU and leave the comic sets/characters to drown. Look at all the figures here, the only focus is on the MCU. Might be an unpopular opinion but I've always preferred the comics to the MCU, and as much as people rag on the DC theme for only doing Batman sets, the Marvel theme has just been the "MCU/Avengers/Spider-Man" theme. If it was really supposed to be about Marvel Super Heroes, there should've been a comic set with the Fantastic Four by now (since Marvel/Disney cleared up that whole issue of no F4 merchandise between 2015-2018 due to Fox and the movie rights), or another X-Men set instead of the last one being released all the way back in 2014. For a good 90% of the theme's lifespan, if it's not MCU or Spider-Man related, getting a comic version of a character is almost never going to happen or you're just going to have to hope that the movies introduce their version soon so that the subsequent comic variant will follow. It really should not have taken almost a decade to finally get Daredevil/Black Cat/Punisher, characters that should have been in a comic based set YEARS ago. But luckily they were Spider-Man affiliated characters so they got their moment with the Bugle. When there first was news about Lego finally making a CMF series about Marvel, I was hoping that it would be comic based just like the DC CMF series since Lego already places so much focus on the MCU, at least give the comic fans this much since it's unlikely that any of those characters would show up as figures in a regular set. But nope, MCU and MCU only, I'd feel the same if the DC CMF's were based on the DCEU instead of the comics. I know the Spider-Man sets take inspiration from the comics as well as the PS4 game and even the terrible Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon during the beginning of the theme until 2015, but there's always a caveat of getting a stupid vehicle included with it. The Daily Bugle is the first Spider-Man set I've bought in 5 years since the amazing (pun intended) Summer 2016 wave with the three sets that gave us classic Spider-Man villain designs, and for once it actually felt like a Spider-Man type of set with no Spider-Copter/Trike/whatever shoved in it. Give the Baxter Building that treatment, and I'll gladly throw down another $400 again. Okay, rant over.
