    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Well I sort of called them today and brought it up, the guy said I was the first person to even mention it. He said he'll pass it on, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see if he really did.

So...is there any possibility that Lego ends up making an updated sticker sheet down the line that fixes the spelling mistake with the TV screen sticker to Curt Connors instead of Kurt Connors or am I just getting my hopes up?

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

While the Bugle might not be the Flatiron Building from the Raimi Trilogy, the amount of references with the newspaper prints showed that it still had a big influence on the set, which I love. Even the Goblin picture on the "Times Scare!" print looks like the same as that Green Goblin pose from one of the posters that I put next to it for comparison. And I know the "Spider-Man No More!" print is based on the image from the original comic of the suit in the trash, but I'm counting it as well since it was used as a headline in Spider-Man 2.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Alright, it was worth getting all those stupid vehicles over the years in almost every Spider-Man set if THIS was going to be a reality one day. I didn't think anything was going to ever top the Bridge Battle set and a D2C Daily Bugle would be a set that only existed in dreams, yet here it is. As someone who's a massive fan of the comics Spidey instead of whatever the MCU has turned him into (that's another story), getting the Bugle that looks THIS GOOD and is jam packed with so many little easter eggs all wrapped up in one set that's a giant love letter to the comics (Spider-Mobile!!!!), as well as the Raimi movies with some of those newspaper prints and even the 60s cartoon, I'm just speechless that this ended up happening instead of Lego usually putting all their attention to the MCU sets while leaving the comic based sets out to dry. Prints of Electro, Kingpin, Rhino, even Norman Osborn, Curt Connors and Miles Warren as stickers gives me hope that Lego knows we need them as minifigures eventually, especially Electro to finally complete the OG Sinister Six lineup. As for the minifigures themselves, now I'm really glad I haven't bought any of the recent Spider-Man sets from 2018 onwards. I don't have any of the new versions of these figures, however when it comes to Carnage I'll stick with the 2015 version instead of this one, it just looks a lot better. The random civilians are an interesting choice as well, even I don't know a few of them. But boy is it great to finally get some new Bugle staff besides Jameson for once with Robbie, Betty, and Ben as minifigures. Not a fan of the face they used for Robbie, he's never had a mustache so it looks like that's going to have to be swapped out, maybe for Rhodey's face from the Iron Man 3 sets or Cyborg's. Jameson himself being an updated version from the Spider-Man 2 sets is absolutely perfect, but I'll be switching the hair back to what that figure had, one of his nicknames is "Ol' Flat-Top" for a reason. But the stars of the set have to be the new allies. DAREDEVIL, one of the figures that people have been begging for to appear in a set since the theme started, is here at last. He looks practically perfect, I kind of wish that he had a more neutral facial expression though, now he's going to be stuck perpetually smiling at everything. Blade is also a welcome surprise, I thought he'd only show up whenever his MCU movie would come out. Black Cat is also a Spider-Man ally that's been LONG overdue, so better late than never. Punisher first appeared in the Amazing Spider-Man comics, so him debuting here for his first minifigure appearance is almost poetic. Firestar is one figure I thought I'd never see, it's funny that she was put in the set as a replacement for the Human Torch because that was the exact same reason why she was created in the first place for the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends cartoon since the Torch was off-limits. And as a bonus, she's a mutant so this is going to be the first proper X-Men minifigure we've gotten in 7 years since the Blackbird vs Sentinel set from 2014. Miles, Gwen, and Spider-Ham never really interested me, so they're whatever. All in all, instant Day 1 purchase for me, even if it's going to cost me $400 Canadian. A set like this deserves my money instead of another nonsense vehicle like the Spider-Monster Truck or giving Spider-Man his own Batcave as opposed to his most iconic building.

It wouldn't be the first time that someone mistook Spider-Man for Superman (this isn't edited, Stan Lee somehow forgot he made this little error).

I mean, the leakers did say a few times that the Bugle we'd be getting was NOT going to be the Flatiron Building that was used in the Raimi movies and was going to be comic based...so you sort of set yourself up for disappointment there.

It'd be easy to do a color swap if it does end up being Bane's camo Tumbler (that is if the design is based on the camo Tumbler that didn't have the giant cannon on it), but I'm still rooting for it being the standard black Tumbler that was in Begins. The last version of that that we technically got was a polybag in 2014, so we're well overdue.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

You know I was going to post a few days ago how I thought/hoped 76239 was going to be a minifigure scale Tumbler judging by the price and the piece count, along with the fact that set number wise it came right before the UCS Tumbler's numbering. I held off on doing it because I thought it sounded too good to be true. Am I GLAD I was wrong. This is going to make up for the Tumbler shaped hole in my collection that's been there since 2008 when I missed my chance the first time. And even better, this is going to be properly scaled too so it won't be an oversized monster like the first one, or an undersized excuse of a Tumbler that wasn't even accurate with the most basic details like having 2 wheels at the back instead of 4 with the 2013 Bane version. I hope it's a two seater, it would be so perfect to fit two figures in there like the '66 Batmobile. Since this isn't listed as a GWP, I expect there's going to be some minifigures included as well. The possibilities for getting any villains we missed the first two times with the 2008 and 2013 sets like Catwoman, Two-Face, Scarecrow, etc. I'd be so stoked to get a proper version of the Dark Knight/Rises Batsuit too where it's all black on the torso this time instead of grey on a black torso like the NYCC 2011 exclusive version.

Saying this even with the fact that we got a whole CMF series last year with a bunch of different characters that never would've shown up otherwise in regular sets (and only 3 were Batman related so nobody can say there was any major Bat-oversaturation).

Like a few others have said already, I'll count the GWP Batmobile as a system scale version of the 1989 Batmobile in this instance. Even if it came with no minifigures, the intention was still evident. The UCS Tumbler being a thing actually gives me MORE hope that an eventual minifig scale version will appear sooner rather than later. Lego started a pattern with the Batmobile display stand sets, and after seeing how well the '66 Batmobile sold, I don't think they're going to quit it anytime soon. Releasing it around the same time as the UCS Tumbler would sell like crazy. And we DID technically get a system scale 1989 Batwing in the Riddler Heist set from 2019, it's literally the exact same design as the one from the movie. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's bothered with Lego's odd choice of picking that piece out of all the alternatives, they even could've reused the Black Arch 1 x 6 x 2 Curved Top that was used for the 2016 version and it would've been fine. For mine I got four 1x2 black plates and arranged them in an arch to match the shape of the mudguard piece and I think it's the perfect substitute. I even decided to add an extra piece underneath it to represent the "Emergency Bat-Turn Lever" that wasn't possible with the mudguard. Here's a comparison between the two:

Real rumor, backed up by all the big credible leakers.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Well, this was a surprise. It's not even a significant year for anything related to the Nolan movies this year. This coming out last year would've made a little more sense since it was Batman Begins's 15th anniversary, the one movie in the trilogy where the Tumbler had the most importance and screen time. If anything, getting an updated UCS rendition is going to help drive down the cost of the 2014 version by a LOT, which is good since I always wanted it for the Begins suit and Ledger Joker minifigures but I could never afford it, the price ballooning on the aftermarket when it retired didn't help at all. Maybe this time the minifigures included could feature a proper all black version of the Dark Knight/Dark Knight Rises Batsuit where the torso print details are still black like the Begins torso, instead of grey that's printed on a black torso which is what Lego did with the original New York Comic-Con 2011 exclusive Batman minifigure from the very start of the Super Heroes theme. And although it would be amazing to get a new villain from the Nolan trilogy that hasn't been made before like Scarecrow, Two-Face, or even Ra's, I think the trend of these Batmobile sets featuring a Joker minifigure will continue. I could really see Lego making the Joker variant in this UCS set be from when he's in jail wearing the green vest, it's probably Ledger's second most iconic Joker look behind him wearing the full purple coat: And now the UCS Tumbler happening sooner than I thought makes me believe that a minifig scale version with a display stand is more than likely confirmed at this point, though it might be like the GWP 1989 Batmobile where it's just the Tumbler and doesn't come with any figures since they'd be in the UCS set. If this one ends up as a GWP as well, I already know I have to run to eBay the day that it goes on sale in order to get one before it spirals out of control with the price just like with the 1989 Batmobile (and even that was pretty expensive when I bought it off eBay on Day 1).

And now Backorders are being accepted (for real this time) for the 60s Batmobile on the US/Canadian Shop at Home site and will ship on May 13th, I'm glad I got my order in when I did. I hope this sends the right message to Lego about continuing the trend of making recognizable Batmobiles with display stands as sets, I need a proper minifig scale Tumbler next that isn't oversized like the original 2008 version or undersized and barely accurate like the 2013 Bane camo version.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Yup, I was about to call up Lego first thing tomorrow and ask them what happened lol. I had a feeling this set was going to be popular, but I didn't it would be so popular that it somehow went on Backorder minutes before it was officially released. I just placed my order, only downside is that I didn't get the free shipping even though I spent $35 because according to the fine print it has to be $35.01 and not $34.99/$35, but it is what it is.

Looks like all the big sites have gotten their early review copies of the '66 Batmobile, here's Brickset's review since they go into the most detail: https://brickset.com/article/58677/review-76188-batman-classic-tv-series-batmobile The Batmobile looks even more beautiful in these pictures, I'm seriously counting down the days till the 26th. Only small issue is the OCD in me noticed that the logo stickers on the door areas aren't centered and one side of the red bat logo now has more white than the other half. Batman's logo on his belt isn't centered either, hope that isn't a common trend.

It is a little weird that the Batmobile is more expensive in the UK for some reason. Over here the Joker 4+ set is $40 Canadian, while the Batmobile is $35.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

The '66 Batmobile is listed on Shop@Home for $30 USD/$35 CAD with a release date of April 26th. That's a lot sooner than I thought, which is good because i can't wait to get it. Also on the display stand plaque it says that the type of fuel that the Batmobile takes is "Batfuel" lol.

And boy does it make the front look even better since they give you the option.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Well those pictures were a great surprise to wake up to. The 4+ set is pretty decent, I knew the Hush Batsuit was going to stay exclusive to the Accessory Pack so far. Same 2012 black Batsuit minifigure we've gotten for nearly a decade (!!!), the same Joker that's been used since 2019, yawn. Getting the new Batgirl in a cheaper set might make it enticing though, now I just need the Nightwing minifigure from the Bat-Base to show up in a cheaper set too. But the standout has to be that 60s Batmobile set, which is ABSOLUTELY amazing. The overall base design looks the same from the one we got 5 years ago, but what makes it an upgrade from the 2016 version is all those accurate details like having 3 exhausts in the back instead of 2 and the front being way more accurate with the grill details. Giving the option for removing the stud shooters is just icing on the cake. Only downsides are the lack of dual molded legs for Batman and no Robin. How do you make a Batman '66 set with no Robin, he was by his side for every single episode, there's even a seat FOR him. Throwing in a stand with the sticker just like the GWP 1989 Batmobile is a big surprise, to me it makes this set feel more like a collector's item than a set for kids. I'm not complaining though, this will be a Day 1 buy for me, and my wallet thanks me too now that I don't need to blow $300+ just to get the 2016 version. What has me curious is that what if this becomes a thing? We got a 1989 Batmobile, now a 1966 Batmobile with a display stand, imagine if Lego continues this Batmobile Anthology trend with a proper minifigure scale Tumbler that comes with a stand...

Now? It's been like that since the beginning, teen drama soap opera's are the CW's specialty. I used to watch The Flash live every Tuesday night but eventually I realized how terrible it was and dropped it halfway through Season 3.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I guess I'm the only one here that's actually excited for this? I thought the 4+ set was all we were going to get for another 60s Batman set, but this just made things a lot better. Now there's a chance to get an updated Robin to go with the new '66 Batman minifigure, plus I can actually get a '66 Batmobile without having to blow $300+ on the Batcave set that threw it in as an add-on. And with the advancements that Lego has made in the Speed Champions theme in the past year or so, like introducing the new base piece that can make two seater vehicles more manageable, this Batmobile has the possibility to be an improvement over the previous version. I kept thinking since 2016 that Lego could've easily have sold the Batmobile on its own and it would sell like crazy, and it looks like I might be right soon.

    DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I wouldn't mind getting a proper minifig scale Tumbler that LOOKS accurate to the real thing unlike the one we got in 2013. The 2008 version is still one of my holy grails, but that thing is gigantic compared to how small the Tumbler actually is in real life. A minifig scale Batpod with Catwoman wouldn't hurt either. And just to complete things, a Batman Begins legacy set with Scarecrow and Ra's along with a Dark Knight set featuring Two-Face so that you'd have all the main villains from the trilogy in minifigure form. Oh yeah, and Talia somewhere as well, maybe in a set with the truck that has the nuke.

I just keep telling myself that we just have to get past this movie and then it'll be smooth sailing and no one will ever want to see this side of DC again (hopefully).
