  1. I am with Darth Malgus above. A pretty neat summary. What I would like to add is that my opinion would be different if I hadn't bought the Death Star at the time for my 1 year old daughters birthday. The fact that I (sorry she) owns it now, does make me sad that I cannot immediately justify getting the new one. Though at 6 years old - she could probably help a bit more now with building it.

Would have no major issue, but I know I will want the figs and droids. Now, if they redid the falcon, boy would I be happy. I never got that and want it so badly. I wonder how much discontent there would be if they did that. Less I would think, as the falcon left the shelves long long ago. I guess I don't like the fact that there is no gap in the Death Stars. Why not do Cloud City first, and DS in a few years??? Same with Snowspeeded. I never got it, so am super happy with a new one.

I just hope, like some have said, that they can give more licence to doing other stuff too. For me, there is no better set than UCS Slave. Wow. And wow again. Yes, we do need Landspeeded and Reys bike in UCS. Please TLG, not many rehashes, and not on top of each other like Hoth and this "new" Death Star.

Finally, I bet if we did vote, those most disappointed would mainly be those who already have 10188, arguably those who have already invested a lot in Star Wars Lego. I am therefore left disappointed!

  2. Number 1 is definitely UCS slave 1. What a build and it just looks so great up on its stand.

Number 2 Jabba and rancor and all their friends.

At 3 is Rogue Shadow. A great looking ship, figs and build.

4 I agree that Ghost and Phantom are seeming better and better with the new shows.

And 5. I do love swishing the new TFA tie. It is almost perfect.

  3. Do you know - having read through this thread I am so impressed that I NOW plan to buy the TLG version after all (for the fun of building it and getting troopers) then turn it into this effort. A great looking mod and thanks for sharing.

I have never been on LDD! But will make some time and have a look. Thanks matey. Ben

  4. Disney is on record as stating they will no longer continue to make Slave Leia merchandise of any kind.

I wouldn't count on seeing Jabba's Palace ever again either, for an entirely different reason.

l will miss slave Leia, I really will. But did you all notice that contrary to said 'never gonna use the image...' She is smack bang on the classic poster image for rogue one poster thing 1 page back. Maybe there is still hope!

  5. Yeah, this guy is right. Outta 10 I'd give it a 9/9.5. You'd have to be a pretty bitter soul to not like it, it least in some form. I also get that it shares some common themes but overall, it's a different story fools! Sorry if you can't handle. I came out of the theatre genuinely happy that my favorite thing/childhood had not been molested

I am firmly in this camp too. Really great film indeed and in some ways my best film ever. I was born in 77 so only knew ep4 second hand, in fact I think I saw Return first, but in terms of anticipation and just loving both the new and old characters (and wow the ships in this too) this film is just epic. I am trying to think of any film I have seen that I love more - there are not many! Seen it second time tonight. Just great great great and totally gets me drooling for the next one. Star Wars is in great hands. Boy will I have to spend a lot more with TLG...

  6. I have loads of sets here in the uk and have hardly ever had issues. The only thing I can recall is the storm trooper from the cantina was totally cracked down the side, but tlg were very efficient in replacing it - so in fact I have a lot of confidence in Lego, and specifically therefore avoid any other brick!

  7. I have been thinking of doing my own UCS Tantive for a while as I have never seen a 10019 at any reasonable price - and of course both versions of Tantive so far are white - and yet from the studio model shot of all the ships seen together, both the Tantive and Falcon seem to be more or less the same colour.

So would the Tantive look better in grey??? I think it quite possibly would! Has anyone seem a grey one?

  8. After looking at a couple of cantina MOCs, I was wondering - is there a thread anywhere for cantina patrons that people have together with using genuine Lego parts and/or custom jobs? My own cantina is pretty well populated, but I'm looking to add more recognisable drinkers.

Moderators - please merge this if there is a thread!

I have a pretty good cantina too - there are 4 o 5 of them about, and I too would love to see how others have approached recreating the patrons...

  9. I have both and love the look of the sandcrawler, but in all seriousness, UCS Slave is now my favourite set out of everything [i do not have UCS MF!]. It was so good to build as well, I just love it. I have a Lego room, but the Slave and the Ghostbusters are out in the lounge. Wife thinks they are great in the front room too

  10. I have this set boxed and waiting for me for Christmas (must have some discipline having built poe's x and the tie already). This is the best looking version I have seen so far. do you happen to have a photo of the extra bricks that you used, so I could get them ready. That would be great if you did.

Also, on the feet - these look awesome and really help the set, but I just feel that you could make them a little more complex. I think it would add even more. Great stuff, Ben

  11. Are you sure that every other brick for x-wing is available on pick a brick?

No - absolutely not unfortunately. There's about 80% of most sets, all the more common bricks that range across multiple sets that are available that year or so are easy to get hold of, but some colours are a bit more scarce - but who wouldn't want that new cannopy???

I do love Poe's x-wing a lot though and wondered about the back and side greebling for modding further Richpepperell's version as above. Things like the stud shooters again as above, I think look great, but Poe's needs these better looking wing cannons from the last version. It is funny that new is not always better.

  12. I have the UCS and love it. I just wanted to add though that even brand new, I found that a number of plane 1x1 bricks with holes (and there are a lot) were slightly off white compared to other pieces in the same set. I assume this is differing batches, as there were some differences in the exact same pieces. Having said that, I built it outdoors in the garden on a sunny day, and when I look at it now inside, I can hardly see any difference.

I would def look to get new pieces though. Good luck. Ben

  13. This looks great and is good to see that it is so doable - although not straight forward.

This leads me to a frustration - it makes sense for TLG to want and encourage us to mod things and play with the lego, and yet we cannot buy the cockpit piece from pick a brick, when we can buy everything else of the ship (i understand minifigs not forming part of this). Please TLG, why not let us buy multiple cockpits?

Is the only way forward Bricklink???

  14. Wow, this really is the best version that I have seen and I definitely want to make it. I agree that it is perhaps 2 or 4 studs a bit too wide, and somehow the front nose does not look quite perfect, but the roof and side elevation, and especially the trooper carrier parts really do look perfect, but not so much like an obvious mod, but a well crafted official model.

I have never ldd'd but would love it if you went so far as working out how much it might cost - most pieces seem pretty standard. Anyhow, none of this is criticism, this is very close to be being a really fine fine mod and you must must make it. I will keep an eye on this thread with great interest. Thanks, Ben

  15. The number allows me to find the free download link of the instructions.

Nothing to do with proof of purchase. I had no idea this number could be used for anything other than downloading the instructions.

E.g. The Temple of Arjitsu is another set that is for sale for a while bit still no digital instructions online. Knowing the number on the back of the instructions allowed me to download the pdf so I could see if the set interests me.

I bet the reason that this is not up on the site proper [the Falcon] is that there are two mistakes in it. Though presumably it would be easy to edit the online version.
