  1. Well I don't think the Black Pearl is even good as a set. I mean, even I could think of ways to do the main window gallery that would be more detailed, realistic, and accurate to the film while using the same amount of pieces. It looks to me that at some point Lego just decided to move on from the POTC theme and not do any more POTC sets so, they release the Black Pearl with some Davy Jones figures so that you could MOC a Flying Dutchman. I know that none of the above is concrete but, to me it seems the most likely scenario. I mean, the design even for a Lego ship is just a little too bland. It's almost like Lego wasn't even wanting to try on this ship.
  2. Yeah, but that is unlikely. I wouldn't mind Lego redoing what they did with the adventurers line. I mean think about a newly designed Aztec temple with all of the new building techniques and pieces. That sure would be cool.
  3. But, there is really nothing interesting in the arctic region such as temples, tombs, cities, etc... I am really hoping that Lego expands the Pharaoh's Quest theme or they switch to some kind of aztec theme. That would be too cool.
  4. As much as I would like to agree I have to point out that the minifigs all look finalized. When we saw the preliminary images of the other POTC sets none of the minifigs looked in any way close to the final designs and prints. So, I have to disagree with you on that. This photo is a picture of Lego's latest or, close to latest, prototype. What I am hoping is that Lego does do a second and third wave and that I can get more of the Black Pearl crew. If they do not do that than I think I will pass up on this ship.
  5. Well I really hope that Lego does some kind of Aztec or east Indian type of theme. I would really like to see a newer version of the Amazon Ancient Ruins with all of the new techniques, colors, and bricks that Lego has been utilizing.
  6. Well, Lego has a history of having leaked pictures removed but, I do wonder. This ship is getting a lot of criticism and most of it is quite justified. This ship just isn't a good representation of the flagship of the POTC franchise. I really do hope though that Lego is listening and will perhaps make some major modifications to this set before they release it. I wouldn't even mind if they delayed the release as long as they fix most of the major problems with this set like including more of the Black Pearl crew, making adjustments to the stern and bow, and fixing the weird looking mizzen mast in the rear.
  7. You might want to read my post before quoting it. I had just finished pointing out that Lego has released very large sets in the recent past that had a huge piece count and were at a reasonable price. I think that a huge castle would sell pretty well and I also think that Lego could also expand the current civilian theme with more cottages, a bakery, and some kind of woodland bandits theme.
  8. I agree with everything you said except the part about the minifigures. I mean seriously. They release two other figures we already have and then release Davy Jones and his crew in place of the rest of the Black Pearl crew. Now I wouldn't mind if they had a flying dutchman with Davy Jones and his crew to fight with the Black Pearl but, being that there is no Flying Dutchman as of yet and it would be impossible for most kids to construct a detailed version of the Flying Dutcham I think they should have just stuck with Jack's crew. Also, if they do come out with a Dutchman why not include all of Davy Jones and his crew on that ship and keep the Black Pearl's crew on the Black Pearl. It just makes sense. I really hope that you are right about this ship just being an early preliminary picture because if this is the final version or even close in terms of minifigs, design, etc... I do not think I and a lot of people are going to buy it and I am saying that for Lego's benefit if they happen to read this.
  9. That could just be there in Australia. In my area the Queen Annes Revenge has been selling rather well and the rest of the sets have been selling ok too. But, I have to somewhat agree with your point. The black Pearl does look only half finished. There is no upper deck, the incline towards the stern in all wrong, the sail on the mizzin mast is way too high, and half of the minifigs are just not a good fit with this set. Yes, I know that Davy Jones and his crew were on the Black Pearl once or twice but, come on, this is the black pearl and it should have lots more of the Black Pearl's Crew. Very disappointing.
  10. I have to say that I am very disappointed with this ship. First of all there is not a lot of detail it is just black meh. Secondly I would like to have Davy Jones and hist crew (on the Flying Dutchman) not on the black pearl. It is hard enough trying to find good fleshy pirate torsos that are detailed and would fill out a POTC ship and, besides I really wanted Pentel and Regetti as minifigs. Thirdly, one of my favorite parts of the ship is the stern and it is just butchered. I dearly hope that Lego comes out with another wave that includes the rest of the Black Pearl crew. I also cannot understand why Lego is pushing for the Davy Jones thing when they are coming out with a limited number of POTC sets and Davy Jones was so unpopular. I mean the flying dutchman is cool but, the rest of the beating heart thing and all of the crab people is kind of weird.
  11. I think it would be great if Lego expanded the civilian theme as well. A medieval church, tournament, fair, and a giant windmill would be a good start. And I would also love to see some medieval cottages. Those would be awesome.
  12. I have to say that I am very impressed with your ship's detail. It is truly stunning. Great job.
  13. After seeing how Lego came out with Pharaoh's Quest after Indiana Jones I think that a return to classic pirates is quite likely. I would love to see another generic pirate galleon like SES and some proper pirate islands would be great to. Also, it would be awesome if Lego did some kind of islander theme, maybe even some kind of Conquistador aztec theme.
  14. I have to disagree, MMV was a lot bigger by about 600 pieces and it only cost $100. If Lego made a 4000 piece castle and marketed it like the Taj Mahal for around $300 I could certainly see a large castle that would be detailed, a great parts pack, and would be just plain awesome. Don't forget that Lego did surprise the Pirate community with the Imperial Flagship even though it did contain only 1600 pieces and I could see a castle with more normal bricks going for around $300. At the very least Lego could widen the Kings castle by about 6" and double the height of the walls.
  15. I have to disagree with that second statement. I think the culture of India is quite well known around the world and there is a lot that you could do with that theme that has not been done before. I think about giant king cobras or cobra mutants or think about some big temple set kind of like Angkor Wat which, isn't in India but has very similar architecture. Also think about all of the cool animals that Lego could release like tigers, more elephants, and of course a king cobra. I mean the rattlesnake is ok for most snakes but, I want a properly hooded cobra. Lego has been releasing a lot of new animals like the new monkey, the camel, the new goats and chickens. A cobra and tiger would be just too awesome. Keep crossing your fingers.
  16. Think about India thuggee battle packs or Incan warrior battle packs. Awesome.
  17. I had some dragon knights like those. It probably is due to the printer cartridges getting old and then getting replaced.
  18. They could do a UCS Dragon Knights castle. Also I haven't seen any dragons with the dragon knights yet. Why can't they come out with a big brick built dragon cave. That would be so sweet.
  19. I wonder if they will do something like angkor wat. That would be so cool. Something like the Indiana Jones ride would be awesome as well. I guess we will have to cross our fingers.
  20. So if the little ship that you pictured earlier is nameed HMS Pickle is this ship going to be named the HMS Cucumber. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I really like how you are designing and building this ship. I have so say I like how you are going for the authentic color scheme and I like the overall shape so far. I look forward to seeing it complete when you finnish it.
  21. A jousting set would be nice if they do it right with multiple knights and peasants but, I would much prefer a giant UCS castle. Something like the death star is to star wars or the Imperial Flagship is to Pirates. Think about it. A castle with a proper kitchen, royal bedroom, throne hall, training court, barracks, no airy towers, walls that are twice as high in typical lego castles and the castle should be twice as big. That would be awesome.
  22. I wonder what they would put in a second wave. I mean is there anymore to do. They have done the pyramid, the obilisk, and the sphinx. I guess they could do a big temple and some kind of nile set but, I don't see a whole lot more they could do in this line. I do however see a great potential for the same characters in a different setting like the amazon or India.
  23. Thank you very much. You did a perfect job on these instructions. They look really easy to follow now that I can see the parts clearly. I am really happy to have these instructions. Now I will be able to build Port Royale. Thank you again.
  24. Uh, no that is not the general opinion. If you look around the historical forum, at the kingdoms sets reviews, the two main kingdoms threads you will find that a lot of people disagree with you. Also, most 4 year olds cannot even build a castle with instructions let alone design one. Do you even have the Kings Castle from the Kingdoms line? I think that Lego is taking a big step in the right direction by releasing these civilian based sets and it is a real shame that some AFOLs, who were not around when Lego was in it's dark ages, cannot even recognize it.
  25. While I do agree with you on some of that I would like to point out that the RBR is not one of LEGO's better ships and considering that this theme could be a major cash cow for LEGO I would expect that they would want to put as much detail into the ships as possible. I hate to say this but, the Queen Anne's Revenge reminds me of the Mega Bloks Pirates of the Caribbean ships which had a beautifully detail outside but, the inside had absolutly no detail at all. It's almost like an Easter egg shell; nice on the outside, empty on the inside. So, I do hope that LEGO will not botch up the Black Pearl and maby increase the parts cound before its release this fall. Slim chanch but possible.
