It would be interesting to see if one of those who end up getting the Silent Mary decided to try modding it into a version of the ship as it was before it was damaged, like we see in the beginning of the trailer when Salazar and the crew were still alive.

Bringing this up again, but I've slowly been disassembling the silage plow from my Claas Xerion set over the last hour while watching YouTube-videos and while doing this, I found that the 24z gear in the plow has no friction whatsoever, just like you described here. I don't recall it being frictionless when I built it, but it's in perfect condition. It's exactly like regular 24z gears except having a barely noticeable slack that allows it to slide on an axle.- 4021 replies

I've spottet more parts I want, haha. I find the price a bit stiff though, I'll likely wait and see if I can get this set for a lower price later. Since nothing's been said about an exclusive or limited run of the Silent Mary, I take it the set will be in production for the usual run? At least available for a year?

I don't recall any of the visible ghost crew members in the trailer wearing a sword belt, I assume TLG dropped the sword belt mold on the minifigs due to that. I wonder, if anyone has figured it out from examining the images of the minifigs - the ghost crew member who has the ghostly lower half, what color(s) does that piece have? It looks kinda silvery/chrome/partly transparent to me, but I can't say for sure. I find that lower half piece interesting though.

I don't have an issue with the brighter colors, I agree that they do make the SM more appealing. The figurehead on the actual ship seem to be holding only a spear and not any shield like the Lego version does. I wonder if the shield is added for more detail or something. Also, seeing as Salazar appears to be able to manipulate the materials in the ship (I assume) to raise the bow in order to crush other ships, it wouldn't be far-fetched to assume he can also make the figurehead come alive to aid him when he and his crew fight pirates.

The more pics I see of the Silent Mary, the more interested I get, although I'm mostly only into Technic and only see a great interest in a part of the parts. It strikes me that this model has many parts that that seem way too light/colorful compared to the image of the ship in the manual and the shots we've seen from the trailers. I assume it's done that way to make the Silent Mary more appealing though.

Do you mean Yavin 4 by the end of S4?

Impossible LEGO
N-4K0 replied to Boxerlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The pin hole with a single pin (15100), while not being impossible to take apart, would certainly require some force if put together like Didumos69 showed on the previous page with the 2 pin version. I'm gonna try that with 15100 myself just to see -
I currently read the ongoing Star Wars comics (the Star Wars and Darth Vader titles) which are being translated and released here in Norway in soft cover book format containing 6 of the comic releases each.

IIRC Jar Jar was appointed senator of Naboo after Palpatine was elected chancellor, right? Did he come up with the idea of granting Palpatine emergency powers to deal with the clone war? I always understood it as there being more people (or other people) behind this idea, not only Jar Jar. But either way, Palpatine managed to hide his true nature from th whole galaxy, even from the Jedi order. I don't blame Jar Jar even if it was his idea, since no one had the slightest idea Palpatine secretly was a powerful Sith Lord. I heard some time ago that George Lucas originally planned the clumsy Jar Jar to be a secret Sith or something, secretly working with Palpatine, but changed his mind and changed Jar Jar's role after TPM came out and he learned how disliked Jar Jar became. Do you think his original plan stayed in the prequels anyway and Jar Jar's suggestion in the senate was actually a part of the plan to make sure Palpatine would gain the political power he needed to overthrow the republic and create the empire?

I got mine today and are currently still building it, step 219 while I'm typing. My 24z gears are normal with friction, I don't know what could be up with yours.- 4021 replies

Strange. 8110 from 2011 is the earliest set I've bought and I'm 99% sure those black 5L axles have come from a set. -

On the topic of axles: Is there any set since 2011 that have been released featuring black 5L axles? While building this week I found myself having two of those. I can't however remember seeing 5L axles in black since TLG started color coding parts and the 5L became LBG. I know for sure I haven't gotten these from BrickLink, since I get enough of the shorter axles from the sets I buy. -

Yes, it seems so! I tried going between pages in topics in the Technic forum after reading your post and indeed it seems to be all good now! -
Having this figure myself, the only cons for me is that the cape is too short and that I think the helmet/head should have been bigger. From what I can see on images, Vader's head piece is the same size as the human characters' heads, yes? In the movies, unless I'm mistaken, Vader's head is noticeably bigger than other peoples' heads because of the helmet, and being roughly the same size, I think Vader's head looks too small on the constraction figure.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion

Is the purple curved panel a part of the door itself? Cos it's not connected to the part of the door that opens upwards/forward. Maybe it opens downwards or something, but to my view, it's not a part of the actual door. A few more holes like in the newer part of this panel doesn't bother me personally, but I have to agree that in some cases, it does look better with less holes. I also have to say that I think there should be more purple on the bodywork, IMO there's too little. -
Obviously there is a connection, but it might have to do with how the war-related themes TLG does have, are perceived. I mean, I know Star Wars for example is heavily about war, but it doesn't appear as gritty and violent as e.g. Saving Private Ryan and that kind of war movies, I think. I agree that to a certain extent it makes little sense, but TLG does what TLG wants. And I can only speak for myself, but I feel that Star Wars, Castle, Pirates etc. kinda seem less war-heavy than actual military stuff.

I believe there was speculation or plans before the release of TFA, of JJ Abrams coming back to direct IX, but he/they decided against that due to schedules or whatever. I don't mind a new director for each movie as long as everyone involved give it their best work to make the movies as good as possible.

I'm the opposite, I think it looks really interesting. Ghost pirates, another battle of good vs. bad, similarities to previous movies perhaps, still looks really interesting to me.

I believe Jones ditched his duty because he felt Calypso betrayed him when she wasn't there to meet him when he could go ashore again after the first 10 years. Hence why he told the Brethren Court how she could be bound into human form. It is interesting to see Will transforming. Given what we know about him, I find your suggestion about him being unable to do his duty to be most likely. I guess we'll find out in May.

Good points, the trench run seems like the safest option.
-
Yeah, but that's why I'm thinking of flying straight in towards the port once they've located it and know where to aim. But I agree that the trench run makes it more exciting, and Lucas probably had his reasons to do it that way.
