    I agree. The steps seem to be clear enough to build the model without much problems. Indeed I suggest to make step sequences while disassembling the model, to have a constant and simple sequence without any stress in parts and build order.

    Nico71 produces very good photo instructions - I'd recommend having a view on those.

    In general I agree. But I've converted some of his models in LDRAW - and there were some steps which are not very clear (recently I build his hot buld tractor), so I'd to find out how some submodels are built). At now I'm building his pneumatic engine, and I'm not able to see where the pneumatic hoses have to be connected....That's I prefer Madoca's photo instructions. I myself once had made a try with photo sequences, and it's really not easy at it seems. So my opinion of Jeroens' instructions: Good work :thumbup:

    is it a big possibility that you will be making instructions for this version aswell?

    I've made a try to convert effermans' separate LDD step files into LDRAW. But at step 13 or 14, I couldn't continue, because at bigger files, the rotation tool doesn't work, so it is impossible to see the parts from a good viewing angle that I can see them all. So I've given up. Creating instructions from a LFX file, no way, I've not the patience for that, sorry. That's why I prefer LDRAW files - or photo sequences.

    So if somebody can produce an LDRAW for the second carrier version, my offer to make instructions is yes :classic: - with the superstructure modification (Firgelli actuator) included.

    @efferman: less details on the counterweight looks much better, no question :thumbup:

    Can you tell me where i can find the parts list for the GRove GMK 6400 Mobile Crane? I have found the building instructions here on Eurobricks, but i am not shure if it is the right one. Maybe you can tell me that. It is an awsome set to build, but i can only do that if i have te right instructions en the part list. I allready have 2 sets of 42009. so the beginning is there. I hope yuou can help me.

    The definitive building instructions (for the moment) you find here: http://www.eurobrick...ic=99748&st=250 in post 261.

    It's the MK II version with suspensions. But there are still other modifications on work you read in the last posts, so there will be different versions of the GMK 6400. With two 42009 I think you'll have already a big amount of parts. There are no Brickstore part lists, sorry. You can print out the lists and sort the parts you need - and note which parts you still have to buy.

    impressive

    today i have made a small experiment. instead making screenshots, every building step has it own lxf file. download this as zip file and let the folder stay open. now you can jump from step to step by clicking the file. Please let me know your opinion

    I very like this experiment. Separate step files help a lot to create an LDRAW file, I've made a try to export some files in LDRAW, an so I can follow and compare when some parts are missing or have wrong angles. Anyone interest on an LDRAW file?

    wow, i like both versions, i really liked the one with suspension, but this one seems more payable... well i think im going to stay with the fully suspensioned.

    After viewed the videos, I more prefer the version without suspensions - the driving/steering seems to be much better, and the gear ratio of the outriggers is more accurate. To see the real difference, I'll like to build this carrier version. But I'm not common with LDD and prefer an LDRAW version. The LFX file export was - as always - totally crap. If somebody can make a more or less accurate LDRAW file, I'll do again the part angles reviewing as I made it with the first version.

    @efferman: The superstructure without the counterweights on back sides looks much better in combination with the carrier. It's still massive, but it gives a very good impression in the whole construction.

    It seems that I have much to learn :)

    If you are willing to work with MLCAD/LPUB - do it! You'll not regret ist and you're able to create the instructions for your Moc's if you want to rebuild them, when disassembled. But bring a lot of time and patience, you'll need it. And work with it regulary. It's one and half year I use MLCAD, and I still do not know all functions although I work every day on it.

    If you have any questions, just ask.

    @Jurgen: As always very good instructions from a very good MOC :thumbup: . And now I think, the forum should add an "instruction Maker" sign to them who make regulary instructions :grin:

    Hi gerger,

    So you completely modified the carrier? And what about the wobbly steering? Is it worth to review/modify the instructions? If so, let me know, I've still the crane assembled, I'm planning to modify the superstructure with the Firgelli actuator. So I can do both, and make a complete instruction update - if someone can help to convert the LFX file into LDRAW.

    Not sure, but personally I used the mpd posted by afol1969 to create a private MOC on rebrickable. Once you have it there it is easy to export the parts list to various formats. Just had to fix a few color errors and parts that rebrickable did not recognize (like the PF stuff and the 2444 that was named 2444b in the mpd).

    In a complex work like this crane it is possible that the instructions still contain some errors, if you find some, please give me information that I can correct them. For extra parts that are not included in the officiel LDRAW part list, please see in this folder on bricksafe: http://www.bricksafe... flexible Parts

    There you can download the .dat files and copy them in the LDRAW list.

    I think so. It may be an never ending story :laugh: I'm looking forward to efferman's result and the instructions. For my part, my work is done at the moment, but in next month I'll make the modification with the Firgelli actuator. When successful, I'll add it to the instructions.

    Edit: Seems to be a single 60483 in light grey in the listing for the superstructure. Should this be LBG?

    Yes, I've seen it now, the original CAD file contained some parts in LG which I've corrected in LBG. So I've not seen that I forgot one part. I'll change it and make an update, but I wait some time, maybe there are some other errors in the instructions, ore some suggestions I can add.

    A monster mammout project, and I'm really relieved that I've finalized it :classic:

    Sorry, no offense at all but i can Not believe this 2 hours. Maybe if you have carefully presorted ALL parts, then MAYBE. But unsorted fresh from the bags, i highly doubt that it is possible to build this model in just 2 hours...

    Last, I wouldn't have fun if I build a model in such short time. Although I've enough technic experience, some models I sit there some evenings there. Even weeks, if I build big models while creating instructions. Building is -IMHO - a sort of relaxing after a work day.

    The boom is finished and the turret too.

    I'm building the truck, arrived at page 47 i take few seconds to understand why the 20T on page 27 get an arrow... Now I know.

    At this time, I don't find any error in instructions, it's a very good good good work. I will print them on A3 because they're really beautiful. I will use a render posted previously here as first page.

    I take a real pleasure to build it and to understand how everything was designed for a perfect integration.

    It's glad that you have pleasure with the building, I take a lot of value to make all steps as clear as possible.

    Yes, the arrow for the 20T gear means that you have to place it first, then it's easier to assemble the axle. It's difficult enough to assemble the axles correctly with all the gears, axles and the right steering angles.

    Please wait with the printing, I'll publish the final instructions tomorrow or next day, the pages are ready, blakbird has made new renders that I've just to make the cover page. The updated instructions contain lots of notes and additional informations.

    Hi,

    I've built the Unimog with the automatic two-speed gearbox from Markus53 (see picture above) and have made the instructions, see here:http://www.bricksafe.com/files/afol1969/Instructions/UnimogX.pdf

    There you can see that I've placed the battery box on the load bed and the receivers behind the cabin. If you don't need an airtank, there must be enough room available to to place an individual gearbox.

    On a slightly different note, I got this in an e-mail from dropbox:

    So they might not work.. I will try to upload the .pdfs to Bricksafe or something

    Yes, I had the same problem too. It seems that the dropbox policy only allows a limited user access. That's why I upload the instructions and CAD files on bricksafe.

    AFOL1969 please wait with making instructions. During building in real i have made some small but usefull changes. for example the cab will be tiltable.

    I've still some work with the original instructions, and honestly, I'll be happy if I come to an end. To make something perfect costs lot of time - and endless patience and nervs. That's why talented instruction makers have my full respect.

    I think, an intruction for you uppercarriage creation, that task should take another person. Because another work is waiting: Modifying the crane for use with the firgelli actuator, testing it, and making an additional instruction update.

    I knew that this question comes!

    I've downloaded the LFX file and would convert it to LDRAW, but like always, the result is horrible, a lot of parts are disappeared. The Cad file should be nade from scratch.

    And: When I look the picture in combination with the 42009, the uppercarriage seems to be massive for a 5-axle carrier. Maybe it looks better with the grove6400.

    But at first I've still a lot of work to do by finalizing the GMK6400 instructions...and some problems to solve with LPUB as I use now a Win7 64bit system *huh*

    No, that is not a stupid question :sweet: . It would be very helpful if there is a possibility to create parts list with ID's in LPUB. You can only find the ID while opening an LDRAW file with LPUB, and point the mouse on it. Then it pops up the ID number. But for that you need the CAD file with the BOM command to show the part list.
