  1. Very good job. Thank you for sharing and we wait for another instructions. I saw some error in Madoca wing truck cabin, because the driver's door is outside the frame cabin

    Hi legosamigos,

Indeed it's possible that there are errors in the Wing body instructions. But after reviewed the CAD file, I couldn't see anything wrong. I think it's an optical illusion in the different beam angles. The same you'll find in blakbirds' rendered Image. And I basically used his CAD file to step it. But I've uploaded the CAD files too, so you can see if there's an issue and you can show me (If you're common with LDRAW)

Edit: Found it! It's on the right cabin side (driver). I've made the correction and uploaded the instruction update: Wing Body Truck.pdf

    @legolintje:

OK, you're right, I think at first is building the MOC, to see if the functions turn well. At least for the boom there are already instructions, so only the chassis needs to be build.

So I offer to start the project - but not before summer end, I have other instruction projects before (for ex. the Braiding Machine from Nico71)

    Greetings

    Alex

  2. Yes, I think about making instructions and I've already discussed it in his thread. The problem is to find the real building steps from an LFX-file. A better solution will be a photo sequense, it will take less work because the building steps are in a more logical order. And after the last monster projects (Wing Truck, Unimog) I need some pausing. I can restart a big project again, but I need some cooperation too, even it's just to make photo building sequence or a CAD file. (Blakbird makes very good CAD files).

    Greetings

    Alex

  3. Hi Kumbl,

I just finished the final Version of the multifunctional Unimog from Markus53, with additional modifications from my own, and I can say that the motorized steering mechanism is very well done, steering works smooth an easy even on carpets.

Instructions will come soon, I just have to resolve a problem with the drive mechanism, where I have to ask Markus53.

But if you want, I can send you a provisional release of the instructions.

@ Pat-Ard: The servo motor mounting in the front axle does me interest too....

    Greetings

    Alex

  4. I don't like the black Container either. But there's a Wing Truck with a red cabin http://www.ramadbk.com/japanese-used-mitsubishi-fuso-super-great-trucks_33611.html , so it would be easier for them who do not have lots of white parts (I'd to buy the cargo plane to get most of white parts)

    @blakbird:

"Every part is braced, every part has a purpose. Everything is lined up, strong, and functional. Everything looks great, even the wiring."

    100% agree!

While controlling the instruction steps, the building needed one week, so I had enough time to see, if something needs to be to modified - and I come to the conclusion too that's a perfect MOC. :classic:

  5. Thanks for the kind offer, Alex :excited: Too bad that I'm not familiar with Ldraw, mainly due to the fact that it lack DirectX or OpenGL support such that it's not very responsive to camera orbit and refresh every time the camera move (that's quite important during the design process to review the appearance)

    Hi gerger,

    I'll quote from Kumbbl:

"But building this just from the lxf-file is really hard - the LDD generated buildsteps are often nonsense or at least makes a lot of difficulties which are not necessary...often you have to look a lot of steps forward to avoid situations where you can't add the necessary parts (e.g. you have carefully to synchronize mounting the three control levers and mounting the covering 'Liftarm 5 x 7 Open Center Frame' - if you mount the latter one as described in the LDD generated BI then it will be quite impossible to mount the three levers later (as suggested by the LDD generated BI) "

Same problems I had by making the instructions for the extended boom, so if I would make instructions for your MOC, it will be a bigger challenge than the Wing Body Truck! Because after a first impression of your LFX file: Where shall I start from?

The easiest way will be if you can make photo instructions, so at least I can follow a right step order. Otherwise it will be a horrible work where I don't know how to have the motivation and - the important - the time.

Once you dismantle the crane, make photos from each step, and I'm sure that I'm able to make the instructions with LDR.

    Greetings

    Alex

  6. Anyone up to the challenge of converting it to CAD instructions?

    Yes

But it needed hours to make the LFX file in instruction mode, there are more than 1400 steps *oh2* . So at first I have to see if the steps are more or less in a right order to make a CAD file. Importing the file to LDRAW is not a solution because the are always a lot of parts missing in the CAD file. So while making the instructions I have to build it - and hope to have all the needed parts. Maybe it would help if I can have the CAD file from Jurgens' Ultimate 42009, from the boom the instructions are already available.

But maybe there is another volunteer to make a complete CAD file that I can step.

    Alex

  7. I have finished the final version of instructions :excited: ! See the same link as in my post #152 above.

I hope they'll be clear enough for everybody who wants to build the Truck. I'm very happy to have realized this challenge, next projects, I think, will be easier  ....

Some of you tell it's worth for a donation. If you really want to make one, just send me a PM.

But to be clear: It was never my intention to ask money for the instructions, I have fun to create them, for me it's like building MOC's :sweet: , and the satisfaction that other people use my instructions to build the MOC's, is enough for me.

    Happy building and greetings

    Alex

  8. Hi Guys,

Thank you for your kind words. :sweet:

That gives me further motivation to continue on making the instructions more perfectly.

Other projects are on work. I hope that I can finally publish the instructions for Markus53' multifunctional Unimog within the next two month.

Next it will follow the Braiding machine :excited: The Cad file from blakbird I've already stepped.

I know, there are more Moc's from Madoca which are worth to have real building instructions. If I have time and passion, I'll start up ...

    Greetings

    Alex

  9. It's done!

I have just finished a first release of the instructions :classic:

The are still some text notes to do, the final Version I'll publish within the next weeks. But the instructions are as well reviewed that you can start the build :classic:

Please let me know if the are some issues to correct. I've made my best to control all step, but with over 4.000 parts I cannot guarantee for a perfect work.

Any suggestions to make the instructions more attractive (additional photos, presentation...) are always welcome.

Happy building, and thanks to Madoca and Blakbird for their preparation work that I've got the courage to make these 'Monster' instructions

    And here they are: http://www.bricksafe.com/files/afol1969/Instructions/Wing%20Body%20Truck.pdf

    Greetings

  10. Hi,

I finally have now all steps controlled within the building, the truck is build now complete. All the necessary pictures are exported and ready to create the instructions. Only the notes are still to do and the page layout.

A horrible work to have the overview of the whole construction, that's why it needs a lot of time to invest.

And what a beast of construction! With all building step I more realized that this Moc ist a PERFECT Moc. I couldn't find anything that can be made better. And the dimensions are really impressive, and the construction stable. Before I thought that it would be nearly impossible to build a stable construction in these dimensions only with beams without using the more stable technic bricks.

I hope that Madoca will present us new Mocs in further time :classic:

I do not know at which time I can present the instructions, but I hope within next week.

  11. Another Problem:

In the Wing Truck Container instructions I noticed some difference with the parts in the BOM and in he instructions. Before starting to build, I count all parts from from the BOM. After finishing the build, I have two 4L-stop axles and two 3L-axles left.

So the BOM is not accurate. I've used some ghosts and Buffer Exchanges with these parts, but I couldn't find any errors in the Cad file.

    Any hints?

    Greetings

  12. The built of the chassis is done! All steps which I made in the instructions are reviewed and corrected in some cases. The part list is so far accurate, but will maybe differ in some others part list, but it concerns only a few parts. For example I used double pins with axle hole for connecting the double wheels instead of pins with pin hole.

The correct placements of the electric wires took a long time to make it accurate, for that I say that Madoca did a very good job with his photo instructions. I cannot imagine to show it as clear in lego-like instructions. For that I'd given up the try to place LSynth points, to consult Madocas' photos is a more easy way IMHO.

I'll upload the chassis instructions in next days, now I'll build up the container and the cabin to control the step order too. Finally I'll merge the 3 Instructions parts to one PDF file.

    Greetings

    Alex
