  1. Hello lego friends! I'm packing all my lego stuff ready to move, but don't know exactly when. anyway I'm already planning my first train layout and I want to have as many trains as possible running at the same time. I have limited 12v and blue tracks, but (virtually) unlimited new rc tracks. For the 12v I have only two switches and two crossings and I wanted to use both of them, so I came out with a strange loop and a station track: in this way I can run two 12v trains. for the blue I made a big outside loop with two more small loops that can accomodate three trains and for the new rails (connected to the blue line with a 7996 switch) a big loop with a small one inside and a passing track, plus two tracks to leave my spare wagons. I was considering to look for another 7996 switch to make things easier too. switches are set up in the way that when the train enters the small loop, it have to make almost a full circle before entering the station (I wanted to make it a little more realistic ) 12v line is clockwise (the station loop), blue line is clockwise and rc line is counter clockwise. what do you experts think about it? do you have any suggestion? the space will be more or less 4x4 meters but can be even a little more on one side like 4.5 or even 5 (but I'll have to sacrifice 0,5 or 1 meter of working area. thank you in advance for your replies. have a nice lego day mrBlue

    Container Raffle Build

how can't I participate to this contest? since I'm packing all my lego (and most of them are already packed), I come across the star wars set 7658 Y-wing fighter and I decided to make a "container" using only the parts from that set... and here you are what came out: a fast-tainer which is a container self propelled that can reach unbelievable speed and if put at the end of the train can give a little "help" unfortunately the engine take most of the space so... it can accomodate only the driver and a small box. (right and left thrusters can rotate and fit inside to keep the "6x16 studs" size) mrBlue

New iPhone app for Star Wars Minifigs

IMHO I don't see any bad in advertising something an user has done about lego, obviously after asking first a moderator or whomever can take a decision on that. and also, as an iphone user, I really like to see more app coming. the bad points of this app are that is only available in the us store (I'm in italy) and that is limited to only sw minifgs, but I think that both things will be solved sooner or later. thumbs up for you effort and for your app! mrBlue

    Electric Switch Tracks Set

it's time lego make their electric switch... how long since the 12v era ones? I still have them and they still work perfectly, but how can lego expect us to switch a rail which is let's say 1 or 2 meters far away from us playing with our rc or 9v train? do we have to run to every place of the layout? come on lego: surprise us! mrBlue

    Clone Brands Train discussions

as always, it would be nice to have some more infos: it's always good to know your enemy before! I would like to know something more about the tracks. I'm planning to build a big train layout and the cheap price of those brown tracks is very intetesting! mrBlue

    Clone Brands Train discussions

ok, for me no way I'll ever buy them, but for sure I may think about copying some ideas. for the tracks... well, that would be a good deal! the brown color make them looking nice, like real dirty tracks and the price is less than half the lego one! is there anyone out there who already bought them? mrBlue

    3677 Red Freight Train

am I wrong or there are new pieces on the last cargo wagon? those 1x1 look-like-cheese-slopes but at 45° ? the train for me is overall good, engine good, ballast wagon, not that much good, cargo good, last wagon "no". I'm sorry, but it looks very "toy-ish". I think lego could have done something better, but anyway, it will be on my wish list!
  8. hello all, is there anyone out there living in thailand? how can you buy lego there? I checked the prices and they seem quite expensive, even more expensive than europe compared to usa ones. I'm living in italy at the moment and the cheapest way for me is through lego shop@home or better buying from usa and ask someone to ship to me, but what about thailand? the closest shop@home is in korea and the prices are not so bad. thank you in advance for your answers mrBlue
  9. Following my temporary addiction to LDD, I offer you today the Emerald Night basic car to add to your steam engine: this car has no interior, but can be personally arranged in many ways. the price (in europe) is around 45.00€ through lego shop@home pick a brick for 359 pieces, and for the interior should be about 5.00€ more. as usual, it can be made only using the pab offered bricks. LDD file direct link HERE my other LDD files HERE EDIT: added a different version with more suitable color, scroll down to see LDD file direct link HERE thank you for viewing have a nice lego day mrBlue

    Post LDD Contest Entries here!

hello everyone, this is my entry for the LDD only class. like (I hope) all of the people who have seen the wonderful pirate island in this old topic, I started to wish I could have one too. I really love that old lego style in it when snot was not a must to make a beautiful building. so I started to make some LDD model taking inspiration from some of those buildings. The last I have made is based on one visible in that topic with (obviously) some modifications according to my tastes, like size, colors, detailed interiors and so on... this building has pins and holes that can be connected to the official pirate set 6242 soldiers' fort. at the lower floor there are two storage rooms (one accessible from the front and one from the back) plus one small house with bedroom. on the first floor and under the roof there is another house with detailed interior and one stair going up to the observation tower. by removing two 2x6 plates and removing and turning 90° the plate used as the ramp on the right, this building can be connected to others on that side too. total piece count: 1695 (1697 - read note at the end) in the first picture, there are 2 doors missing on the left entrance because I could not find them in the LDD palette. for the purpose of building this model, I checked and those doors are available through bricklink. the ID code is 2554 LDD file can be downloaded HERE thank you for watching have a nice lego day mrBlue

    Post LDD Contest Entries here!

HELLO to everyone! this is my entry for the LDD + real bricks it's a train station based on one I have seen don't know where on the net that I really liked. mostly that I don't like about some lego buildings is that there is a lack of interiors and floors are not "really" connected, so in this train station you can find: a ticket counter with queue lines and accessible place for the operators and a small waiting area. a bar with coffee machine and draft beer plus other drinks on the shelves and various other facilities, like sink and under storage and also a small terrace for the clients to wait and drink. on the upper floor, accessible from a stair on the back, you can find a small (hotel) room for those who have to wait a little longer. the building on the right, is a storage area accessible from both sides with ramps. roofs and first floor can be removed for easier access. total bricks count: 2100 (excluding the 4 rail tracks added on the real bricks photo) enough with description, now photos (3 LDD + 2 real bricks) LDD file can be found HERE I like to share my LDD files, I think they can help to see other people techniques and give ideas for a better build! thank you for watching, and good luck to everyone. have a nice lego day!
  12. Here you are my first moc train based on the Rio Grande, a train that shares the same Santa Fe engine, but in an orange striped color. you may notice that some details are based of other mocs I saw around on the net, don't ask me where, because I cannot remember all, but I'll list them as soon as I'll find them again. engine doors from here engine carriage from here bar idea started from here first of all, a photo of the real train engine first some stickers on the windows to make them look round ones would make it look much better engine can be removed to insert the PF battery pack standard coach using some jumper plates, I have been able to offset the seats of 1/2 stud, allowing 8 minifigs to seat comfortably in a standard lego sized coach. bar coach some action (I had only star wars figs around that moment) and now, full train thank you for viewing and for your comments have a nice lego day mrBlue EDIT: add link to other mocs that gave me some idea
  13. here you are my Santa Fe super Chief pick a brick panoramic car. the length is in standard lego Santa Fe Super Chief size and all the seats can be used. NOTE: the train bearings in light bluish gray are no more available at lego pick a brick since few weeks ago! hopefully I have been able to buy quite a few of them on time! thank you for viewing and for your comments have a nice lego day mrBlue

MOC: Santa Fe Super Chief panoramic car

not exactly, they exist in the original Santa Fe cars in light gray (not bluish), but they tend to be quite expensive on bricklink and difficult to find as "new". I agree with you, it would have been much better with train doors. have a nice lego day mrBlue

    MOC: Working Hopper

here you are my working hopper that once I made available in LDD. after having the real bricks in hand, I have been able to make some new mod, including a working locking system! view from the top by turning this wheel... (connected to a mechanical arm through a technic brick 1x1 + half pin + half (cut) lightsaber bar) you can unlock the moving floor... that now can be opened to unload the hopper thank you for viewing and for your comments have a nice lego day mrblue

MOC: Rio Grande train in orange

yes those are only the engine + some F7B units here you are a photo of a real passenger car, but keep in mind that the passenger cars I made, are my own interpretation, and I wanted to keep a classic lego size and not an extra-long superdetailed version that would not be able to be used in most people train layout. height difference is not intentional! it's 2 plates, one from the different height of the engine boogie plate, and one from the different kind of roof. in the photo, it seems much more though... I'll check what it will look like adding one plate in the roof part. have a nice lego day mrblue
  17. after the last shipment from lego, I have been able to build the BNSF caboose and here it is! this is the 4th version and can be built only using the pick a brick selection. a 5th one is on its way with some minor changes available only using some bricklink parts. it is fully furnished and can be opened either by removing the roof or by opening one side! the roof is now in dark bluish gray (dark stone grey for lego), but it can be done in green. the only cons is that the pick a brick green is not the same as the BNSF original dark green, but it is in a lighter shade. obviously, with a little help from bricklink some better matching colors can be achieved. original model that gave me the idea yes, I know, pictures are awful, but could not do any better at this moment. higher quality ones will be uploaded as soon as possble. latest LDD file can be downloaded HERE thank you for viewing and for your comments. have a nice lego day mrBlue EDIT: add original model photo that gave me the idea
  18. well, I agree with that person! this site IS dangerous! since the day I found this site for the first time, I started to slowly get out of the black tunnel I was in and my funds started to slowly decrease due to a growing addiction to lego. nowadays I'm back in another tunnel and I must get my dose of eurobricks every day... the admnistrator should make a popup warning saying this site is really addictive! have a nice lego day p.s. by the way, I never experienced any warnings during the past months! so I think it's a problem related to your company software.
  19. after looking at this topic I looked for more photos of other people's solutions to furnish the three floors of the cafe corner set, but couldn't find anything nice. how did you manage to make the three floor building a good living place for your minifigs? thank you mrBlue
  20. after watching this photo on the net and while thinking how to use some spare gray carriages I order by mistake and also while looking for a cheaper way to make a roof, I ended up with this orange car yes, I know, roof should be gray, but on pick a brick you cannot find that sloped brick that I wanted to use (it can be found on bricklink though) and with available gray sloped bricks the roof would be almost twice more expensive. LDD file can be found HERE thank you for watching and for your comments have a nice lego day mrBlue

    MOC: PAB diesel engine

having nothing to do on a sunday evening is bad! so... here you are my new creation, made as usually only with PAB parts! LDD for now, spent too much during the last days and wife would get angry if I buy new parts now LOL I got the idea from a photo in this topic. LDD file HERE thank you for viewing and for your comments have a nice lego day mrBlue EDIT: added ldd link

    WIP: Cargo Train

your cargo train is very nice! those cars are simple built but they show great talent! lego should take inspiration from people around us. your cargo train with a diesel engine should became a regular set! anyway, Davey gave me an inspiration and I planned a diesel engine (it's bad when you're at home and have nothing to do!) as usual it's LDD and with pick a brick parts only, but with some other parts it can be improved a lot! you can have a look HERE have a nice lego day mrBlue
  23. here you are a new car. two version available, but still not sure about something: still have to realize what there are seats also in the lower part, and minifigs can sit in all the available places. LDD files available HERE and HERE thank you for viewing have a nice lego day mrBlue EDIT: updated photo links. for the final version scroll down.
  24. Here I'm back again, but now, after I received the bricks from lego, I have been able to build all of the first three replica of the Santa Fe Super Chief cars I made using ONLY bricks available from lego shop@home. all at once: you can see there's a difference in windows placing among the three cars. dining car. as you can see, all the doors are brick built. no gray doors available on lego store. sleeping car. end car. inside of the end car you can see a little difference compared to the original set. the interior of the dining car is very similar to this and the one of the sleeping car is the same as the original set. I preferred to take the second option with the larger window. this is possible with pick a brick using the black 1x4 brick with slope. for a better match, you have to order the light gray on bricklink (already ordered). sorry for the not so perfect pictures, but it was too dark here. I'll update the pics as soon as possible. thank you for viewing and for your comments have a nice lego day mrBlue
  25. thank you very much! this makes me very proud of my job! I always love to look at all of your masterpieces! regarding your comment about the plain brick, I already found a solution and I'll fix it during the following days! have a nice lego day mrBlue
