Well, this set is certainly an easier build than it could have been. Doesn't look like it has the mass of the real plane. But for what it is, I'm pleased with it. The truck does need work, though.
And I'm glad they used the Bane torso for the Mechanic. That was the one I wanted to use for my custom, but it had the suspenders. It's a shame they didn't print the backside. That could have really added to the figure.

The sankrit cloth was the item that started Indy's quest in Temple of Doom.
And Fate of Atlantis was a video game. There was a certain pendant that was central to it.

Some of the Pirates sets found in Orange County, CA. Picked up Loot Island on my lunch break. Mostly, so I can use the baseplate to build the finale scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark! Woot!
Side note, I'm bummed that the new flame piece has the tiny post sticking out from the regular post. You can't attach the flame to the brown carrot/torch. The hole isn't deep enough. That will make the new flame kind of limited usage. Bummer.

Sounds to me like the ToD description belongs to the Fighter Plane attack in the line above, which sounds like it's the dogfight escape from the zeppelin. Probably a two plane set.

Just got back from the Downtown Disney Lego Store (Anaheim, CA). No new sets yet.
-
-snip- Do they have them at the Lego store at Disneyland in California? -snip-I'm stopping by there today to find out. They are usually pretty slow to get things, but I'm hoping!
-
-snip- Does anyone know why Marion is holding a torch with no flame? You mean a dirty carrot? I'm surprised they didn't go with yellow cheese wedges strung together, as she actually knocks out the pilot with the tire blocks.
The flying wing is alright. I wish it was all gray. -snip-Well, in the movie the top surface of the Wing was green, and the bottom was a tan color. Guess this is their "middle ground".
I'm less impressed with the Wing than I thought I would be. The Wing is my second favorite Indy vehicle (after the desert truck, which we have already), and I guess I had high expectations for it. The Mechanic definitely looks better than the prelim figure. Yeah, I used the Patrick torso for my custom figure, but would have much rather been able to use Bane's torso without the overalls. Looks like that's what we're getting.
I'll still get the set, but it's not the best I've seen.

What? The white tux looks like James Bond. Whats wrong with saying that?If that was his meaning, then I was mistaken. I took it as a criticism. My bad.
-
About the tuxes, james bond anyone? But those are the style of tuxes Indy and the gangsters wore in the movie. Remember, Indy was at a nightclub right before this car chase.

Prelim Car
Movie Car
Final Car
The suits that the bad guys are wearing are much more screen accurate in the final version. The only thing that really jumps out at me is Indy's hat. He didn't have it here (well, in the car's luggage he did. Shows up after he changes on the plane).

A great improvement over the prelim shots. I am eagerly awaiting this set! Glad they fixed the outfits (knew they would). They look much better now.

Very impressive work! Can't find a single thing I don't like about this project! When you get more bricks, have you thought about making an interior? Or perhaps carving out the base from the backside and adding a dragon cave?
Keep up the great work!

Great article! Inspires me to tell my recent story.
I just found a Spongebob Bikini Bottom Express set at a Goodwill store for USD$5.00. The box was trashed, but the set was complete. Now mind you, I had no use for the set itself, but I figured even a box of orange pieces will come in handy somehow. ;)

I picked this set up a few months back, and it is by far my favorite of all the Crystal Skull sets (maybe because it has nothing to do with the movie ) Iagree with you on the stickers not being very bright once applied to the windows. That bugged me too.
My only complaint with the plane is that if you display it on its wheels for any length of time, the weight of the fuselage starts to bend the wings downward at the center. They should have made that part a bit beefier. I got around that by attaching a string to it and hagning it about my desk. Problem solved.
Great review, and great photos!

I'm not sure what you mean as Will has never said he's working on such an item. Actually, I can confirm he isn't nor are there any plans for him to do so.Ok, no worries. I had mentioned it as a possiblility to him in an email a while back, and he said it sounded like a good idea. Wasn't sure if it was something he was serious in pursuing.

Excellent! I am attempting an entry for your contest as we speak!
Any progress on an uncoiled bullwhip?

Is it possible for the revolver to come in black, as well as the silver? The one carried by a certain archaeologist is darker.

For me, part of the fun of building a new set for the first time is sorting through a giant brick pile like searching out puzzle pieces. That only works once. It takes the joy out of it to be told which bags to build first. I open all the bags, and pour them all out (on carpet! Take that, instructions!). Once all the pieces are nicely combined, only then do I open the building manual.
Why take away the initial challenge?

I wonder if his safeword is "Megablok!"

Nicely done!
I'd love to see a shot of the fronts of the characters, to see what you made them out of. Very creative!
-
Sorry to be off topic, but that is a nice little memorabilia collection! Thanks! Finally, my two hobbies of Indy and Lego have combined, and I went a bit crazy.
I'm really excited for the 4 possible new sets. The work they've done up to now has been fantastic. I'm glad they've decided to continue with the vehicles, as the playsets seem to be a bit weaker in design. I know it's not from any particular scene in the movie, but the Crystal Skull plane set is one of my favorites of the line (and I hated that movie!!)
Let's hope some images come out soon, and it will kick this discussion back into high gear!!

That's a nice little display you've got going there. Have any other custom Indy accessories? Thanks. Actually, I do. I have a custom Ark and crate. I'll take new photos tonight. I'm also working on a Grail Tablet, Sanskrit Cloth, medallion from Fate of Atlantis, etc. I'm trying to figure out a Cross of Coronado. I also make custom minifigs, but I'm not at the waterslide decal level. I hand paint my stuff.
-
Well, since they stole my German Mechanic design, I suppose I'll let them steal my Sankara Stone design too.
Heck, they can take my Nurhache Urn, antidote vial and Holy Grail while they're at it!

That sir, is amazing!
You have a real eye for these. Please don't stop!

Here's a quick comparison between the LEGO and real truck. It's close, but still needs some work. The movie truck is an old jalopy, and not as substantial as the desert chase truck.
