Now that you mention it... it does look like there is a hair on my monitor!
Same here lol
The rubber band usage is interesting though. I've been trying to come up with a way to get more snow on those pine trees than just the single 1x1 round we've all been using. Might have to get me some of them...

This is amazing! I'm really liking how much height you've crammed on what's really not all that much real estate.
Oh, and that waterfall... is there any SNOT in there or is it all studs up?
-
That Dovahkiin looks hungry!
I like your take on the thin pine trees. i was worried that using 1x1 rounds would make the trunks look too thick, clearly I was worried about nothing.

Antonio:
I think I saw the tail first here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=381795; and he's got a bunch of other great castle stuff in the other folders
Izzo has some great small-ish dragon heads and bodies here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=237558

...(new pic in first post)...
Yes! White works really well there.

Thanks guys!
Could i use your dragon technique, since i have been looking around for some techniques for small dragons but cant really find any!
Of course you can. I'm not one to lay claim to any building technique or whatnot--there are far too many of us building around the world for me to believe that I'm (or anyone really) the first to come up with something. I know saw the tail technique somewhere a while back; I'll see if I can dig up that and some more of my 'inspiration' stuff for the dragon.
A nice depiction of a Chryog Wyrm, a sub-species of dragon first discovered by the dwarven sage Hammish the Noseless.
No way I would have been able to come up with a name for this guy, I'm not that creative. But I'll run with it!

Here's a little build I threw together a while ago while I was still lurking

A free build for Mitgardia
A band of explorers traverse the mountains in search of forgotten dwarven ruins. Along the way they encounter many fine specimens of local wildlife, some easier to eat than others...
This was actually my first Guild build. Got the pictures taken right before tearing it apart for my Challenge V MOC, which pretty much depleted my supply of white curved slopes.

This is pretty cool! I like the rope ladder, never seen the droid arms used like that before; the horizontal LURP (Little Ugly Rock Piece?); and the half timber structure coming out of the rock is a fun idea. I do think the yellow window in that section could really use some red shutters, and maybe a different color for the panes.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm not sure my photography is all that good yet, but it is kind of amazing what 2 sheets of posterboard and the editing software from your camera can do for you--although 2 sheets wasn't quite enough, that exposed corner is bugging me.... I haven't looked yet, but is there a thread around here with photo taking tips?

I love how imposing this is, but a tad bit more detail on the tower would have been good in my opinion. As Ecclesiastes said, another row of arrow slits or perhaps these:
for the sides of the arrow slits to add more depth? (pic from peeron)
A small thing though, again, the beefiness is great.

Those little Anubis/sphinx things are fantastic. I'll have to remember that if I'm ever in the mood to dig Johnny Thunder out of the giant lego box quicksand he disappeared into...
-
Details, details, details. Awesome stuff here! Kind of envious of all those trans-green tiles though
-
First, as others have noted, the horizontal 'banded' rock is a great idea and well executed.
Second, the facial expression on the fig with the soon-to-be-dead chicken cracked me up. Wish he was facing the camera a little more.

Probably one of the better uses of light elements I've seen recently, but that big stalactite/stalagmite is honestly the best part for me. It seems we often forget about those when building lego caves. That touch of real-life nature in plastic form made it for me.

Thank you for the kind words Antonio and soccerkid6! Small is pretty easy for me, big MOCs are a bit tougher, speaking of big...

My entry for Challenge V, I'm kind of surprised nobody has built their take on the "towers made of ice" mentioned briefly in the Travellers Guide - but somebody had to do it...
From Mikkel's journal:
We arrived today at a newly discovered tower constructed of ice and snow. The small contingent already there has made no headway in determining the origins of the tower or how to enter; there does not appear to be a door. If Victor and his forces are ever defeated, the mages from Cerdica may be able to unlock this structure's secrets. The Norseman running the place at our arrival sure didn't seem happy to see us, but we were informed later that he always looks like he's ready to put an axe through somebody's helm. For now the fishing seems to be good, so at least we'll eat well while we're here.
More pics:
Hope you enjoy.
Edit: Ok, so I'm seeing a slideshow there ^ how do I get just a link?

Hello Eurobricks!
I've been lurking for years, but after watching the Guilds of Historica for the past year, I think I may have turned some lights on in my 'dim' age and have started joining in on some of the online communities. I enjoy building castle and space. Castle because it lets my mind wander back in time and space because I've always had such an interest there to the point of making my career in the aerospace industry.
I'm hoping to enjoy my time here!

Hello all!I've been watching the Historica happenings for a while and it finally got me off my backside to start building again. I'm hoping to join all you Mitgardians in the frozen tundra for at least the final few challenges. My character:Mikkel is a former engineer for the Jarl, hailing from the Mitgardia capitol, Valholl, and was traveling on a cartography expedition in the Northern Wastelands when Victor's machinations came to light. Since then, he has used his knowledge to improve on the crossbow, increasing its range and accuracy. Recently he's begun experimenting with new fire-powered ballistic weapons. Whether this fire-breathing tube functions on science or wizardry, he knows not--he just knows it works.
