  1. Hi Alex, I did purchase my second standard actuator from France but it was out of stock at that time and I needed the crane to be ready before LEGO World in Copenhagen. To be on the safe side I ordered 2 with the alternative gearbox from Canada. They actually arrived before the one from France and they had been so kind to put in 2 extra gearboxes so I can change on my standard ones if needed. When 1 alternative geared can lift the boom it should mean that 2 standard ones can do it also but to be on the safe side and not crash my gearbox I prefer to use 2 alternative geared.
  2. Alex/afol69: I have finally got some more time to test with the Firgelli actuator. There is no doubt that one standard geared actuator can't lift the boom. I did mount one alternative geared actuator and it can lift the boom ad that should give the result that 2 standard geared should also be able to do it. However when I have demonstrated the crane you could hear that the actuator was really on work so now I have tested with 2 alternative geared actuators and it sounds a lot better. For me I will keep it with 2 alternative geared actuators. Then I better get back to the plans for LEGO World in Copenhagen.
  3. As the Firgelli actuator was sold out in France I had to do something to be on the safe side. I therefore ordered 2 actuactors with the alternative gearbox from Canada. These arrived today and even with an extra gear for each of them. I have only fitted one in the crane and it lifts the boom without problem. This Means that 2 standard actuators should also be abe to do it. I still have to do the final assembly of the boom so it can be fully extended and then I will test if it can still lift the boom. Maybe I end up with fitting 2 actuators with the 210:1 gearbox. Last thing will be getting a good profile for my SBricks in the crane and then it is ready for LEGO World in Copenhagen.
  4. afol1969 / Alex: Please be patient and as soon as I get my second actuator I will let you know if two actuators can lift the boom. I purchase the second one from France to avoid all the problems with customs in Denmark. If 2 standard Firgelli can't lift this heavy boom I will go for 2 with the alternative gearbox but they can only be purchased from Canada.
  5. DrJB: I have the Firgelli EV3 actuator. This one is not sold out. You should contact Firgelli to have them to change the normal gearbox with gearing ration 100:1 with an alternative gearbox with gearing ration 210:1. The original is not stong enough to lift the boom. I am just waiting for a second original one hoping that 2 with gearing 100:1 can do the job. Otherwise I will have to purchase 2 new with alternative gearbox and just have the others placed in my stock.
  6. I have today got my SBricks so now one of the models of this awesome crane is built here in my place. However I have really found out that either I have to get this secondary gearbox for my Firgelli actuator or I have to purchase a second one and then use 2. The boom is way to heavy for the actuator. Unfortunately the alternative gearbox can only be purchased from their main office in Canada and not from their distributer network. Anyway it will have to wait until next year. Best wishes to you all for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
  7. efferman; I like your experiment. With the last lxf file it is possible to make a part list and all the others give the possibility to see hos to build it. Looking forward to the last files.
  8. I must admit that I would like to build them both but I have to pick one and as the one with suspensions is already built then that will be the one being exhibited at LEGO World in Copenhagen 2015. It will be at our LUG Byggepladen's setup and as I wrote earlier it is to show how the communities like Eurobricks join up to make awesome things. We will try to explain the timeline in this work but if anyone have a good idea then please forward a comment on it. Feel free to use admin@lwfanzone.dk Only effeman's new uppercarriage is still to be done and hopefully my SBricks will arrive soon. Efferman; Thanks for the Building instruction for the uppercarriage and boom. To make a complete part list it would be nice to have the lxf file for it like for the new counterweight. Is that possible?
  9. I have finally started building this awesome crane and would like to Thank everyone that have contributed to this project. The plan is to exhibit the crane at a large event in Copenhagen next year to show the visitors what can be going on in the Fan Communities. I believe it will be presented as a Eurobrick Community Build but if we should credit some persons by name who should it be? My own part will only be to use Firgelli actuator and SBrick. (Still awaiting the SBrick). efferman: About the changes you made while building your uppercarrige. Are those essential to stability or is it mainly to make the cabin tiltable? Are you making a new LDD file? (please do )
