    Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

That archery range would be better fitted for Robin Hood now lol. Besides that, the castle also had a genie lamp and magic carpet to represent Aladdin. I always felt it was annoying though that the original castle only had references to princess films, minus Fantasia, even if Brave was technically a Pixar film and also a bit of an outlier in that respect. And some of the references were pretty weak too. A random kitchen to represent The Little Mermaid was awful especially since we've seen kitchens in Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast as well. The lock of black hair used to represent Rapunzel wasn't even accurate to her hair color. I would like to see other classic Disney films referenced like Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which are just as worthy even if they lack princesses. Similarly, the animal centric films like Dumbo, Bambi, Lady and the Tramp, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and The Lion King deserve some attention as well even if I can understand why they wouldn't be easy fits for a castle. That's probably hurt Pocahontas as well since her movie is entirely set in a forest.

If you wouldn't mind, I'm sure some of us would love to see pics of the MOC back half connected to the official set once you receive and build it!

The feet would be an issue. The beast has his furry feet visible whereas as the prince, he wears brown boots.

I wouldn't take that movie seriously. Those princesses weren't intended to be the real princesses (which is why they act so exaggerated and OOC) but Internet versions of them.

He says he didn't remember there being any characters like Mickey or Minnie. Just that there were a lot of princes and princesses but he only remembered Cinderella and Prince Charming/Henry.

Have Donald and Daisy appeared in any new sets this year? It would be strange for Lego to go without releasing them in a new set since they show up almost as much as Mickey and Minnie.

I would love if one of the bigger sets turns out to be a Mary Poppins set. There's been several submissions to Lego Ideas that replicate Cherry Tree Lane, including one that's currently still racking up signatures. Before the pandemic, I believe the plan was for Cherry Tree Lane to be built at Epcot so you could actually visit the same street where the Banks lived and where Mary Poppins flew in.

I think that's a clever idea for an advent calendar. The only reason I can see that not working is because Deathly Hallows Part 1 got a lot of complaints by fans for being boring, particularly all the camp scenes when the trio (and later duo) is on the run. Lego might feel there isn't interest in revisiting that period. One Deathly Hallows theme I'd like to see is Bill and Fleur's wedding so we can get wedding outfits for all the characters there. That's probably the only way we'd ever get an Aunt Muriel minifigure.

Is it true that Lego has stopped making big figs? That's what I heard over in the Sonic and Marvel threads which may hurt Ralph. Tarzan has rights issues because the rights to make more merchandise for him relapsed to the Edgar Rice Burroughs Estate which is why you never see Disney make Tarzan merchandise anymore. So Tarzan and Jane would be off-limits but Terk, as an original Disney creation, could still technically get a minifigure. I would love to see John Smith, Quasimodo, and Phoebus under a heroes lineup. Not to mention Esmeralda and Frollo whether it's another villains lineup for Frollo or a Princess/Heroine or 90s nostalgia line for Esmeralda.

Pixar isn't really known for their villains. Syndrome and Randall are the only ones that get somewhat promoted or are remembered. I can't imagine any demand for Sid, Hopper, Chef Skinner, or Evelyn Deavor. And I think any interest in Zurg flew out the window after Lightyear especially based on how badly the sets for that movie sold.

Cinderella finally got a new 4K restoration this year which brought back the original colors from 1950 and restored her silvery gray dress and dark blonde hair. Not the strawberry blonde hair and pale blue dress she had in all the DVDs and Blu-Rays. There were other changes as well like Gus is back to wearing his original green shirt instead of yellow in the incorrect restorations. That could bode well for the Lego Cinderella minifigures but all the 100 Years Celebration merchandise I'm seeing still has Cinderella as a blonde in blue so I'm not holding my breath. Similarly, Snow White's coloring is still messed up in all her merchandise. She should have a navy blue and pastel yellow dress that almost borders on beige. The BrickHeadz and all her other merchandise keeps her in oversaturated, bright yellow and blue. The same is true for the survey leak cottage set even if that was a prototype image.

Raya was made as a minidoll to promote her new movie but she hasn't had any merchandise since then since her movie came and went with little fanfare. I am surprised that we haven't seen a Raya minifigure because she is an official Disney Princess now, even if she hasn't been a very popular one. She's one of those princesses who even though her film didn't do well and her merchandise doesn't sell, she still had to be formalized as an official DP because they made such a big deal about the diversity she provides that it would look bad if they just dropped her altogether. I hope they don't use the Belle minidoll hair for her minifigure. It's not very accurate especially when it comes to hair length.

    Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Good point that the Witch could use a cape as well. I remember a lot of people were disappointed with Cruella's minifigure when we first got a look at her without the mini cape but as soon as we saw the final version, people were far more pleased because the cape really did add some depth to her. Emperor Palpatine has a very similar cloak to what the Witch wears (which makes sense since he was inspired by her design) but he also has a cape in Lego form and would look completely bare without it so the Witch might be improved with one as well. Wendy's new hairpiece is the main thing giving me hope right now that the new Peter Pan set will feature minifigures based on the animated movie. It would be a waste to create that piece and never use it for a minifigure, not to mention I think it would be outrageous that in this year there are three different Wendy figures and none of them might be a minifigure based on her animated version. It's very pretty especially with the lighting you used which gives it a magical ambience. It reminds me a lot of the carriage that the Blue Fairy uses in the Pinocchio 2002 Italian movie, in terms of being a pure white design. https://c8.alamy.com/comp/F6J1EH/release-date-october-11-2002-movie-title-pinocchio-studio-melampo-F6J1EH.jpg

    Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Oh, I would like to see that. I'm not sure what Merida could have come with anyway to warrant a GWP and Disney has really phased her out of merchandise so that might explain the lack of inclusion for her in any sets now. The carriage would be wonderful especially with the Fairy Godmother and maybe even Jaq and Gus animal molds. Or Bruno, Cinderella's dog. Yes, they do have a mold for the hood with ribbon as part of her microdoll figure, but it's in purple and in the actual movie, her outfit is more blue than purple. We've gotten the transformation forms for the Evil Queen and Jafar and if we get the Maleficent dragon set, we'll get one for her too. That leaves Ursula as the only major villain not to have her transformation in Lego form, specifically her as Vanessa. I think this villains set was a missed opportunity to include her as Vanessa. Four minifigures for a $130 set wouldn't bother me so much if not for the fact that most of them seemed to have issues. Maleficent is lacking a cape. I think they're treating her as they treat Snape in the Harry Potter sets with the idea that her robes just need to be printed on and she doesn't need a cape since she technically wears a cloak, not a cape. Personally, I'll be taking the cape from the original figure and adding it to this one because she seems a bit bare without one. Jafar's lack of a Genie headpiece will make him stick out with the original Genie. I even went back to my original Genie minifigure and gave him the gold stud and black feather instead of the headpiece to see how he looks and it just looks really uneven like a bad MOC. The gold stud is way too huge and the lack of ears really makes him less recognizable. I think it's really going to hurt the longevity of this Jafar minifigure in the long run and I wish Lego was amenable to hearing fan complaints and changing things before a set's release if there was enough public clamor. The Witch seems a bit generic with no printing minus her hair. They couldn't mold a new hood piece with hair which also makes me less sympathetic towards the fact that there's only 4 minifigures and not more than that. I think another issue is that in the movie, she's always hunching down and has a very prominent nose and the minifigure can't replicate either of those things so she looks off. I think the reason they didn't do side villains (like Mr. Smee) is because they'd stick out next to the major villains. A bit like including Horace and Jasper next to Maleficent and Jafar. Also in the Mad Hatter's case, he's not a villain. However, early on in Disney Villains merchandise, Disney did use to market the Cheshire Cat as a villain alongside the Evil Queen but they also stopped doing that circa 2010 when the live-action Alice came out. I'm still of the belief that we'll get an Alice in Wonderland set. They specifically gave us Aurora and the Evil Queen in the CMF to supplement the two survey leaked sets and I feel the Queen of Hearts' inclusion in the CMF was to supplement a Mad Tea Party set which would feature the other Wonderland characters like the Mad Hatter, March Hare, and White Rabbit. But then again, we're getting Snow White, Aurora, and Phillip in the castle set and maybe those survey sets won't even be made so I could be completely wrong. And you're right that it's very weird that Cinderella was skipped out on for the villains set. Disney doesn't make a lot of Lady Tremaine merchandise but it still seems odd especially since we still have no Cinderella content so far. She's the best-selling Disney Princess and the face of that billion-dollar franchise so it is an odd choice but they've been skimping on Belle and Snow White as well, two princesses about as equally as iconic.

I've been wondering that too, especially since like you, when I first saw the image I thought the dark tower was actually part of the Hogsmeade Station.

I remember hearing about a GWP for the castle set and my guess is that Merida will be the figure for that. She's a solo character so it would be the best fit for her.

That's a casualty of the Iger regime. When he came into power, he dropped Walt's name from everything and really minimized Walt and the Disney family's legacy from the company.

I didn't realize it was a 2 in 1 set. I figured they had enough pieces to make both patronuses. I don't care for these types of sets anyway but that's even more annoying that they don't even give you enough pieces to show off both. I can't imagine many people would be interested in the wolf patronus though, since as you said, it's never been depicted in the films.

The entrance to Knockturn Alley was attached to WWW in the DA set so maybe that side building is a more fleshed out Knockturn Alley entrance.

Looking at it closer, I'm a little disappointed with the Jafar minifigure. He doesn't have the separate headpiece like the Genie did that featured his hair, ears, and earring. They gave him a gold stud and black feather piece to represent his hair but he's completely lacking his pointy ears and earring still and he won't match the Genie now. It's a cheap choice especially since it would have just been the exact same mold as the Genie had but in red instead of blue. And I'm seeing online that some people are upset at the lack of a cape for Maleficent and how the witch's hair is printed on her torso. I'd have liked to have seen Lady Tremaine and Frollo included with the villains we got. I've always loved Hyacinth Hippo as well. I'd love to see more Fantasia characters such as Ben Ali Gator to go with the hippo or Madame Upanova, the ostrich ballerina.

Thanks for confirming. I can't see it at all but I'm glad we're finally get printing again on her dress even though I have the original Bellatrix from the first Burrow set.

There are still dozens if not hundreds of characters left. Quasimodo, Esmeralda, Phoebus, Frollo, Clopin, Geppetto, Blue Fairy, Honest John, Gideon, Stromboli, March Hare, Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, King of Hearts, Tweedledum, Tweedledee, Ariel's sisters, Prince Eric, King Triton, Vanessa, John Smith, Governor Ratcliffe, Chief Powhatan, Nakoma, Kocoum, Thomas, Mowgli, Baloo, King Louie, Shanti, Pete, Ludwig Von Drake, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, Clara Cluck, Clarice, Max Goof, Mickey's nephews, Gus Goose, Grandma Duck, Jose Carioca, Panchito Pistoles, Rasoul, Sultan, Maurice, LeFou, Bimbettes, King Stefan, Queen Leah, King Hubert, Flora, Fauna, Merryweather, Lady Tremaine, Drizella, Anastasia, Fairy Godmother, Grand Duke, the King from Cinderella, Humbert the Huntsman, Mother Gothel, Madame Medusa, Penny, Bernard, Miss Bianca, Mr. Smee, Wendy Darling, Michael Darling, John Darling, Maid Marian, Little John, Merlin, Arthur, Madam Mim, Milo, Kida, Lilo, Nani, David, Angel, Pleakley, Jumba, Rafiki, Timothy Mouse, Big Bad Wolf, Three Little Pigs, Mary Poppins, Bert, Penguin Waiter, Jane Banks, Michael Banks, Mr. Banks, Mrs. Banks, Roger Rabbit, Jessica Rabbit, Judge Doom, Horned King, Taran, Eilonwy, Gurgi, Basil, Ratigan, Kristoff, Prince Hans, Owl, Kanga, Roo, Christopher Robin, Gopher, and Yen Sid. Disney also owns the rights to Anastasia (1997) now and has been making merchandise for that so you could add Anya, Dimitri, Vlad, Rasputin, Empress Marie, and Sophie. And that's not including alternate costumes or looks for the characters we already have minifigures of. They could easily do a CMF series just on Mickey himself in all his different looks throughout the decades. Perhaps for his 100th birthday that's coming up in 5 years.

Oh you're right. It's the pudding Aunt Petunia makes. It looked familiar to me but I really thought it was some microscale building I couldn't recognize. I don't care for brickbuilt characters but Dobby does look quite cute.

What's the building by WWW? It's black and gray so I thought it might be Borgin and Burkes but it has a completely different shape. WWW looks okay but not that different from what we got in Diagon Alley. The Weasley face looks a lot better though so they seemed to address that complaint from the DA set. Hagrid is confirmed part of the Hogwarts/Hogsmeade Station set. I can't see if Fang is there and I think that's Harry in front of Hagrid. At least the train has two compartment cars. The Hogwarts set does seem to be the Entrance Hall. With a courtyard to match. Quite impressive looking imo and can't wait to get a closer look. I also can't tell what the little white and purple "building" is in between Dobby and the patronus stag. I don't see Lupin's wolf patronus either unless the thing portruding out from the stag is the wolf's snout on the left.
