    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I'm also worried that if we see characters like Cyclops or Rogue in the X-Jet, they won't have leg printing. Or in Rogue's case, even side arm printing. In the comics, the main four are the same as the movie's main four characters as you can see below. While the Phoenix minifigure was good for its time, it really wouldn't look good with the new X-Men figures with the lack of dual-molded arms to showcase the yellow gloves. The green of her costume should also be a lighter shade of green (as seen in the pic above) rather than the emerald green they went with. The lighter green that Shaggy, Peter Pan, and Robin Hood wear in their minifigures is more accurate to Jean's Phoenix costume in the comics and the 90s show. Mystique would also need the skull on her forehead. That wouldn't look very good printed on her face behind the hair whereas the Lego Marvel Super Heroes game gave her a molded hairpiece with the skull molded onto the hair which is more accurate. If the X-Mansion features any villains, I think it'll likely be Mystique or Juggernaut. Mystique has a habit of infiltrating the mansion with her shapeshifting powers (and she lived at the X-Mansion during the 90s for a while as well). Juggernaut's fights with the X-Men are usually depicted with him crashing into the mansion so he's another likely choice and I can see a big fig being included in the mansion set. The only other option for a villain at the mansion would be Magneto but in his reformed X-Men costume with the big M that he was seen wearing in early promo art for X-Men '97 since he's part of the X-Men in the show now.

In civilian clothes, he wears red shades so the visor wouldn't have much reusability outside of his main costume.

They chose this one specifically so they could reuse all the minifigures although at least Belle will be new. It would be quite funny if she's the only one they replace with another existing character. And the Agrabah Palace is a hard pass for me without any minifigs.

In the animated series he wears a green suit and has a yellow hoverchair. Which I believe was also how he looked in Multiverse of Madness. You're right that his standard look from the movies is easily made with any black suit and a wheelchair.

I feel like we won't get a Reed until we got a Fantastic Four movie with a set to match. Because Marvel has had the rights for the FF for several years now but there still hasn't been a Lego set for the team. Xavier at least we should hopefully get in one of the upcoming X-Men sets. Although I don't think he's in the new show, they might make an exception for him and still include him. Since the MoM version of Xavier came from the 90s show, at least that could get you an accurate version of him.

I'm not sure if Deadpool 3 would be family friendly enough to get any sets but it would be a wonderful way to get the Hugh Jackman version of Wolverine as well as Elektra. And the leaks and rumors I'm hearing online make it sound like. a lot of other friendly faces will pop up as well and some of them would be great as minifigs.

I never watched the movie but couldn't they make the set without Wanda, and just focus on the Illuminati characters?

For the exorbitant price, they could have at least added Wendy's hairbow. Not a fan of them reusing Cinderella's face for her. It doesn't suit her whereas Alice's face would have made more sense if they had to reuse an existing head.

    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I think some early designs changed because Storm didn't have her mohawk originally when the show was announced. Sunspot's powered up form also looks like it might be different from the white costume he's wearing in newer promo materials so it's possible they scrapped the Magneto costume for his classic one. It's also possible that he'll wear this new M costume in the show but they didn't bother to make any merchandise for it since it's never been a very popular look.

    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Magneto in X-Men '97 is a hero now and an official X-Man so I can see him taking the place of one of the flying characters speculated in the X-Jet set. His costume is very similar to the one he wore in the last X-Jet set but with a giant M on his chest now. If there is a villain minifigure included, it would probably have to be one who can fly or is associated with the Sentinels if a Sentinel is included. Sinister doesn't really fit and would seem a weird choice to pair with the X-Jet imo. I'm hoping the four minifigures are just Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, and Gambit. Jubilee can hopefully pop up in the X-Mansion set along with some repeats and maybe some new team members. I'm very curious if they'll include Professor X or not since he's presumably not in the show anymore, not on Earth anyway. A single-seat jet would be very disappointing. What's the point of having four figures if only one can fit in the jet? I'll buy it anyway especially for the hope we can get a bigger version later.

It's possible that if this X-Jet sells well (although that may be difficult at its price for the size and piece count) that eventually they'll remake a larger, more scale accurate X-Jet that can actually fit the whole team rather than only 3/4 minifigures.

I hope they include some of the bedrooms for the characters including Storm's attic with her garden plants.

Archangel will also apparently join the team but he hasn't been pictured yet. X-23 will also pop up, likely as a guest character. We know that Jubilee's voice actress is returning although not to voice Jubilee, so I can see her voicing X-23. Sebastian Shaw, Callisto, and Valerie Cooper were also pictured as additional villains. The Sentinels will be back as well so I can see them as part of either of the two sets. I'd expect a new lineup of minifigures to match the show as well. Since it seems Forge is joining the X-Men, he'd be a likely candidate to appear in an X-Mansion set. I don't know if Moira MacTaggert will appear in the show but if she does, I can see her in the X-Mansion as well unless they'd like to leave her for a future Muir Island set.

I agree with everyone about Wolverine's hair. It looks really odd and not accurate at all. I'll swap it out for the hairpiece his previous figure used since I thankfully have that. I've been rewatching X-Men: The Animated Series, and there's a sorta mini-X-Jet that's yellow in color and a single seater which pops up a lot, almost more than the actual X-Jet. I wonder if we might see that as its own separate set or maybe even part of the main X-Jet set instead of a Sentinel or bigfig villain.

    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

That's true. I've seen Bishop in a lot of the new merchandise since he's joined the official cast but no Cable. For Magneto, I'm curious if they'll give us the classic red and purple Magneto or his new look from the show with the big M on his suit.

Very happy that X-Men sets have been confirmed. 2024 works with the show rumored to have been postponed to an early 2024 release. With Mr. Sinister being confirmed as the main villain of the season and Jean being pregnant, I wonder if that means we can expect a Cable minifigure as well.

    Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I'd love to see more X-Men sets coming but I'm not sure Lego will bother for a revival of a show that's a Disney+ exclusive especially since other Disney+ exclusive Marvel shows didn't get any sets. I know it's unlikely but it would be nice if we could get a CMF series based just on the X-Men '97 series. Wolverine, Storm, and Beast are the standouts of this current line and I'd love to see the rest of the team given the same amount of detail that CMF figures usually get especially since the show will be adding Nightcrawler, Archangel, Bishop, and Sunspot to the team. Not to mention, Magneto and Morph are team members now as well. The original Magneto minifigure has aged well but the lack of leg printing to portray his boots stands out especially now.

Maybe they think playsets appeal more to children and that Disney adults/collectors gravitate more towards the display pieces. Even though I think sets like Snow White's cottage, Geppetto's workshop, Mary Poppins on Cherry Tree Lane, Gusteau's Restaurant from Ratatouille, etc. would all appeal to adults the same way Winnie the Pooh's house and the Up house did. There were a lot of Fantasia submissions featuring Sorcerer Mickey on a mountain peak, but I guess Lego wasn't interested in any of them for being minifigure playsets. Even the Disney Magic set is more of a display piece that happens to feature minifigures and I'm sure it didn't escape Lego's notice that all of the minifigures, save Belle, were existing ones they could easily repurpose. I display them all together although I wouldn't mind if they made statuette/mini molds for the smaller characters like Chip 'n' Dale, Tinker Bell, and Jiminy Cricket along with the full-scale minifigs. The Dumbo set actually does feature a brown mouse which I didn't notice before so if that did get selected as the official set, I'm not sure if they would change that into a Timothy Mouse minifig or a microscale figure.

    Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

The choices do feel very safely selected, to stick with display models rather than playsets. Based on the Duos, Villains Icons, and Camera sets, it does seem like Lego is leaning more towards display models. The temptation would be to go with the Disney Magic set since that's the only one that features minifigures. Belle is the only new minifigure but by the time this set is officially in production, a potential set featuring Belle will likely already be out so she even won't be unique anymore. On top of that, even the Agrabah microscale set might be out by then so there's another portion of this set which will be more or less obsolete. I do think the appeal for general consumers will be in minifigures that haven't been available for years now like Aladdin, Ariel, Elsa, and Stitch (not as Experiment 626) all collected together. I think I'd be more interested in this set if instead of giving us the exact same identical minifigs as before, they were slightly different versions: Elsa in her Frozen II white dress, Aladdin as Prince Ali, Pinocchio with donkey ears and tail, Stitch in one of his many alternate outfits like his hula outfit, and even Belle in an alternate dress. Ariel is probably the only one that wouldn't work in a different look since she's depicted swimming but even then, they could use an alternate tail piece. I wonder if it might also be possible to include a Simba figure with the Pride Rock portion the way they included Dumbo and Bambi in the camera set. Or maybe a Figaro to go with Pinocchio instead of reusing Cleo again. The Cinderella coach, while not movie accurate in color, also seems close enough to minifigure scale that it could be useful. I also noticed the emphasis on Walt-era sets between Fantasia, Dumbo, Bambi, and Tinker Bell which I appreciate. I do think the Bambi set would be nice for some Lego depictions of Thumper, Flower, and Friend Owl. I feel the Dumbo one might be very popular because of how iconic the park ride is and the function to flap his wings. I wasn't a fan of the Dumbo figure in the camera set, so if they threw in Timothy Mouse as a minifigure or a new Dumbo minifigure (he actually is a walkaround character in the parks), I'd be more inclined to pick that but that's probably wishful thinking on my part. Overall, I know the Disney Magic set doesn't seem to be very popular here but it was always one of the ones that stood out to me the most in the submissions, and I always felt it did the best job of commemorating the most iconic and popular Disney movies. It would make a good display piece to have all these classic characters displayed together. I don't think it would work to alter the movies to new ones because outside of say Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Winnie the Pooh, and the animal movies, there aren't really any iconic enough to represent Disney.

    Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Disney at one point was trying to make a Disney Bunnies franchise for kids starring Thumper and his sisters but it never took off. A pity, otherwise we might have sets and sets with Thumper and his sisters lol. You're right about the raccoon and pug. In fact, I felt that Meeko in the Disney Duos set looked really inaccurate and just like a random raccoon. Percy looked better but his color was off. He's always been more white or light gray than the cream color they used in the Duos set. Thankfully the real Sebastian exists in the early princess sets which is the one I use. Eric's dog, Max, also had a figure but he's way too cartoony to fit in with the minifigs. After Dobby and his sock became a set in the Harry Potter line, I wouldn't put it past Lego to do something like that for Dumbo. There's no rights issue for The Sword in the Stone like there is for Tarzan. It's just not a very popular movie and its most iconic feature is the sword in the stone itself. The movie is so unpopular that in the documentary for the Sherman Brothers (the songwriters for most of Disney's hit songs from the 60s), they didn't even include The Sword in the Stone despite it being their first Disney animated movie. It's mine as well. I'd love to see Frollo, Quasi, Esmeralda, as well as Phoebus and Clopin. And a little Djali. I can live without the gargoyles lol.

Duplo-ish is a good description. I wonder if there's a chance we could ever get Thumper and Flower to go with Bambi and Timothy Mouse to go with Dumbo. I'm not sure how they'd do Timothy though since a full-scale minifigure wouldn't work alongside Dumbo but anything too small would look weird next to full-scale minifigs like Jiminy Cricket or Chip 'n' Dale. Oswald has a girlfriend, Ortensia, but I've never seen any merchandise of her. Pete might have been another good choice since he also appeared in Steamboat Willie and he's technically older than even Mickey. I'm still surprised there's been no Pete minifigs. I'm surprised by all The Sword in the Stone references as well. It's the only Walt movie to not be a classic. It's pretty much ignored in Disney merchandise except for this year since it's the anniversary for the movie so there's a few things available for it, but usually it's nonexistent. Hunchback is getting a live-action remake which is currently in production with Josh Gad so Disney's not completely against it. Disney seems to recognize that there's a market for Hunchback but it doesn't overlap with their family friendly Disney demographic (although they've more or less departed from their soccer mom demographic). The musical for it was a huge hit on Germany and it's no coincidence that Disney decided to launch their Hunchback musical in Europe rather than the US. Hunchback was also Michael Eisner's pet project so as long as he was part of Disney, you still saw it fairly well represented in the late 90s and early-mid 2000s. It's when Eisner left that merchandise for it became nonexistent and Esmeralda stopped being an official Disney Princess. Eisner even planned an ABC live-musical TV film for Hunchback in the early 2000s but it never came into fruition. In the last decade, Disney did create an American musical stage show for it but even then, they deliberately didn't market it with the Disney name so that families wouldn't feel tricked into watching a show that wasn't very family friendly. America is too puritanical for Hunchback but it's very popular in Latin America because of the shared Catholicism, Europe for obvious reasons, and even Japan where Esmeralda frequently gets merchandise. Hunchback is far more present in Japanese Disney merchandise than Hercules or Mulan which is completely nonexistent. The popularity of Disney movies can vary from country to country and Pocahontas is another one more popular in Europe and Asia.

I get why Mickey and Minnie were included but they just seem like watered down versions of their previous figures in the CMF series 2 or the Steamboat Willie set. This was a missed opportunity to include a B&W Oswald. And I agree that a sitting Dumbo is a little too limiting especially since his most famous role is flying. It would have been nice if they had done something with his ears too so you could flap them up and down.

    Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Funny how we were just talking about Dumbo and Bambi as animal molds. Bambi looks fine but Dumbo is very cartoony and barely looks like a Lego figure. I don't think I'll be picking up this set.
