  1. I'm not sure if this has been discussed lately, if it has feel free to add to the existing thread..

    About me: I collect a lot of Star Wars (mostly PT), and I mean a lot. I don't have a lot of shelf space left but I can squeeze in a little more if needed. I currently have about 2/3 of my SW collection on display and all my HP, Trains, and TECHNIC put away in bins.

    Now.. I'm thinking about buying and possibly building a small "army" of the Kingdoms figs/sets. TRU is having the BOGO sale this week so I could take advantage of that and buy the first 2 big sets of the line. I know that once I start this I'll have to finish it off, as well as buy the fall SW sets, and HP sets.

    This is going to hit my wallet AND shelf space. So I'm wondering if it's too much. I've never had the opportunity to have a decent Castle line so it's a little tempting right now.

    How many different themes do you AFOLS "juggle"?

    Only 2 here mate; Castle and Pirates. My castle is about 85% and 15& is pirates. I have well over 1,000 castle figures. I proud myself in customizing and trying to add different faces in order to avoid "clone armies". Pirates I have about 150 minifigs.

  2. I'm interested in building up a large army of the new Spartans. I know everyone wants these but I'm sure there are plenty of people who are uninterested in them but will be out looking for other minifigures.

    So, I'm offering a $5.00(U.S) bounty for any sealed Spartan that anyone wants to sell me.

    I would want to get these in groups of 3 or 4 at least though so I'm not paying $2.00 to ship one at a time. I know they will likely be selling for a few dollars more than this on BrickLink once Series 2 is widely available, but I doubt they'll be moving all that quickly at $7 or $8 once everyone starts listing them. Please PM if you're interested. I am willing to purchase domestically and Internationally.

    Jason

    Jason,

    Looking at the current prices and probability rate of getting Spartan minifig, $5 a pop wont really get you anywhere. Especially if you are looking for a sealed Spartan minifig. I just picked up 20 for a $6.70 a pop....without spear and shield. Which is ok. I wanted to put different shield and spear anyways so it played out alright.

  3. What about the $70 boxes at your local LEGO store. Is that a better value than bl?

    I live in Michigan...which means the worst economy...which means no lego store haha. I placed 8 orders from bricklink int the past month. I got a huge chunk of my castle done-would send them pics but dont want to spoil it. My last order came about a week ago. It was around 800 bricks. Gone. All of it. Every single piece. Off I go now to order more. Its like a never ending process....Just buy and buy some more, and then when yu are done buying-buy some more ;)

    Cheers

  4. About a year ago I got my 30 year old LEGO out for my kids to play with. I fell back into love with the block. Now a year later I have accumulated around 400lbs of blocks via garage sales and such. The kids and I have been building Star Wars sets, and MOC’ing a few modular buildings. We all are enjoying out time spend playing with the brick.

    As a kid I received the Kings Castle (6080) for Christmas one year, great set! I tried and tried to build a realistic castle, I never had the blocks.

    Now that I have more funds, and means, I want to get into building castles once again. This time I hope to accomplish what I never did as a 12 year old. My question for you guys is how do I acquire enough Light Bluish Gray Bricks? I have found bricklink.com has high prices for that color, and the supply is surprisingly short. It would take 3+ stores to get enough 1x2, 1x3, 1,4 and 1x6 blocks. If that is the way to go, so be it. Any advice from the experienced builders?

    Hello mate. I was in the similar situation as you are in. I always wanted to build a huge castle, but because of lack of funds during my childhood I never had a chance to buy any lego, so my "collection" were yearly lego catalogs where I would dream about getting sets and playing with them. However, I always had this obsession about castles and wanted to make a huge castle. About 4 years ago I started buying lego sets that I could not have during my childhood. I aquired most of them. After several thousands of dollars as mearly 4 years later I decided to break 'em and build that dream castle (still in progress-started bulding 3 weeks ago). I do cacth myself ordering from bricklink a decent amount every week. The thing is if you want a big castle utalize all your parts and get the ones you need. I find BURP, panels and 2X5 bricks to work well. Bricklink is pretty reasonable, it just depends on how big of a castle you want to make. My castle is the size of twin bed....yup. that would explain constantly running out of parts and replenishing my supplies. Besides bricklink garage sales are your best bet. I personally dont have time to go garage sale shopping but heard of some good finds. The most convinient is bricklink-it can add up but it will depend how big of a project and detailed you want to make. Make sure you utilize your own parts first.

  5. SPARTAN!!!!!!! I am a huge fan of spartans, their culture and lifestyle. I have 5 custom made, but plan to get 20-30 of these. Second place rightfully goes tot he Egyptian. Ill try to get 20-30 of these too. After them two Dracula and witch (ill get one of each) for others I can care less.

    Series 1, my favorite is Forestman, ninja and caveman. Trying to get 10-20 of each currently

  6. In 2010, I got back into LEGO.

    As a kid, I had a sizable town and I stuck with that theme for most of my childhood (until branching out into space LEGO later on, mostly because I thought all the trans-colored dishes and antennas looked cool).

    Anyway, I never really got into any of the Pirates stuff.

    I've spent a lot of money over the past year on a lot of City stuff. I pretty much have everything I'd want that's currently on the market. However, I do regularly find myself eyeing the Pirates sets, which look like a ton of great and charming fun.

    Now I know you guys might be a bit biased in this, but with Pirates not being renewed for 2010, is there still any point in getting into Pirates? With little to no opportunity for expansion (outside of digging up older sets) and a fading productline, is there still sense in collecting some of the Pirates sets as a sidedish to my main theme (City)?

    I'd like to hear what you guys think.

    I know how you feel. I had a similar situation 4 years ago. I was hardcore into castle but would always check on pirates, the old ones that is. Id go through brickset and so on. Finally got a couple of sets off of eBay. 2010 rolled in and I got the new line- pretty happy with it. Then the best part comes; customization. Im not sure how you feel towards it or have any desire to do so but it makes it extra fun. I have now about 100 pirate minifigures of which at least 60 are custom made. Im basically doing 5 pirate captains with crew of 15 each (different outfits and so on) and imperial soldiers-blue coats and new red coats. Even though I am a diehard castle fan-over 1,000 castle figures (pride myself of not owning an army of clones) and a lot more sets/ bricks that are castle themed. Im also curentlly working on this huge castle MOC. After that I will do pirates, I bought parts for 3 big pirate ships but never started'em. Anyhow, to sum this up, it is never too late to get into something., regardelss what that might be.If it makes you happy, go for it. New pirate line is quite neat-i like'em a lot. My personal collection of new pirate line is ; brickbeards ship, cannon battle X4, and Pirate hideout. I'll be looking forward to get kraken attacks and that island set as well. For some odd reason Soldiers fort does not strike me.

  7. It depends on several things;

    1. How big MOC are you planning to make?

    2. What is the importance and room available for village?

    3. Are you planning to use parts on your castle, and if so what parts? Pehaps bricklink can be a better alternative.

    4. If the parts are used for shops, blacksmith, inn, stable and so on how big those buildings are going to be and can you use your current parts instead of buying $100 set. Also, bricklink might be better alternative.

  8. This morning I hit 3 toys stores (out of 4 I wanted to go to), no figs yet (while some June sets were there).

    I still think I took the right decision buying a 60 bags box on S@H.

    And I used scissors to open the bags, not my teeth, so I can't tell if the smell turns into bad tast in your mouth :tongue:

    how did u manage buying 60 bags when the limit is 5?

  9. Hello EB community. As many might now there is a big excitement in the air about collectable minifigs . Some lucky lads got their hands on several bags of these, while others spent hours searching around their area with no luck. I was, unfortunatelly, in the second group. Many might be, if not PM me, familiar that there is a qucik barcode check to identify what minifig is in the bag. I would be interested in the following; 10 cavemen, 5-10 ninjas and 10-20 forestman. I am willing to pay for minifigs and shipping and will give extra $20 for troubles. No, I would not be interested in buying off of ebay or bricklink and paying more then $1.99 a minifigure actually is. I am looking for a favor, not a rip off deal. I will gladly return the favor back when called upon.

  10. I finally got to buying a few of the new Kingdoms sets and truth be told they look beautiful, especially knights in bulk; the new metallic gray is gorgeous and the shields and plumes make for a great color scheme. :wub:

    What is really intriguing about this theme however, is that it is a return to the classic non-fantasy castle of the 80's and 90's, and the fantasy factions such as trolls, skeletons, and dwarfs seem to be out of the question and out of this theme. There is, however, still magic and fantasy in the world of Kingdoms;

    We have wizards, and they have 'magic wands' and of course baby dragons;

    So that makes one wonder; what kind of role does magic play in the world of Kingdoms?

    And how much fantasy elements will be introduced in the new theme? I personally cannot wait to see the next wave of sets; they are a crowning achievement and a great mix between contemporary Lego design, and classic castle architecture, add to that the realm of fantasy that while it isn't as wild as that of the 'Castle" line, is very much present and you get a line bursting with possibilities at the seams.

    How far can the fantasy ideas be bushed into this theme? I mean can you realistically see other figures such as forest nymphs, walking trees for a forest men faction etc. ??? (since most of the fantasy is based on folklore) :classic:

    What a great question. In my lego world magic plays a pretty decent role, even though old fashioned medieval battles will be more reliable and constant. My wizards can use magic but the more they use it the weaker they get, so you wont see one mage blasting 50 warrioirs and then 50 again and so on. Their powers will strongly depend on the magician itself, their background and knowledge. Also, my dragon knights are dragon radiers, as well as some wizards. Besides that I have polar bear fighter, 3 headed dog rider, centaur warriors, and dont forget them elves. Elves also have mages that help their warrioirs to fight better. Finally, I am looking into making another faction; flying people. Something like birdmen tribe :)

  11. By far my favorite of all time is 6086 Black Knight’s Castle. I wanted this set so bad when I was a kid, but never got a chance to get it. I was lucky to get a complete set on ebay for less than $100.00

    Pretty much copy and paste every single word haha. For some odd reason Kings Carriage is right up there too (never got it)

  12. If you have a Lego store nearby (Or somewhat nearby), they seem to have them...though sadly they sell out in no time. I went to my local Lego store in hopes of finding the last two and they told me they have them and still are receiving shipments...just they sell out in no time at all. Pity.

    The closest one is 3.5 hrs away.Its a bit odd that they came up with 16 different figures but only 5 can be ordered fom lego.com. Doesnt make any sense, how are you supposed to collect all 16 if you can order only five?!?! Blah.
