Like the topic description already mentions, I'm TAFOL from the wonderful country of Holland. My real name is Niels Huyzer (speak out as Neels Hoyser) and I'm currently 22 years of age. I can't really remember when my LEGO hobby began, but I'm sure it must've been before my 5th birthday. Throughout the years, I've bought many sets, but I also had many dark ages throughout these years, the longest dark age counting at least 3 years. It wasn't until I saw the first Batman-sets starting to appear on the shelves of my local toy shop back in 2006 that I got out of my last dark age and started collecting all sorts of LEGO-sets, varying from Creator to Indiana Jones to Atlantis and all sets in between. My favorite sets would be the ones that has a lot of usable pieces and many interesting building techniques, such as both of the Lamborghini Gallardo models from 2009 and 2010 (sets 8169 and 8214), but also sets such as 7962 and 4841. However, my ultimate favorite set is definitely Creator-set 4993, designed by LEGO designer Jamie Berard (who is, of course, also my favorite designer). I've been lurking Eurobricks for quite some time, though if I had to guess I'd say that it's been 4 years since I first laid my eyes on this wonderful forum. And so far, it has not discouraged me from signing up and creating an account. So I'm glad to be a part of Eurobricks now. :) And that's as far as I'll go with my story. I'm sure you'll get to know me better as I'm venturing more and more into the interesting worlds of the forums. So I'll see you soon. Bye bye.

So you're telling me that the top section is a bit too tall in comparison with the rest of the building? I can see what you mean there, and the only excuse I have is that I didn't know how to build it differently. But maybe you could give me some tips for next time? Thanks in advance. Maybe I could've built it differently, but I build it this way because I thought it was beautiful as is. I'm sorry that you think otherwise, but I don't think I'll be changing the top section. Unless you can convince me otherwise, of course.

In June of 2011, the Dutch LEGO forum Lowlug hosted a contest called "Laat zien hoe het moet" ("Show them how it's supposed to be"). The rules were simple: Build something that would fit within the official LEGO Architecture theme and something that could definitely be an improvement over 21008 Burj Khalifa. So I started building, and after 2 weeks I came up with the following result: Please note that this isn't something that was created for Eurobricks' own Architecture contest, but this is merely something I thought you'd like to see as one of the first MOC's I've posted here. So to be clear, this is not an Architecture contest entry. Anyway, please enjoy the various clickable angles of this Arc de Triomphe: And here are some clickable shots of the real thing: You can find more photos on my Brickshelf. Please feel free to comment or ask questions about my MOC. Thanks in advance for your interest.

Great idea to build a diorama around an official set. I like that you made it look like the Knight Bus is driving on a bridge, with the railing on the side.
-
Yep, you better believe it's true.
-
Argh, a female troll and a beheaded Dobby. The horror! But seriously, your MOC looks great. Nice way of having all sorts of details all over the place, but still keeping it organized. Please keep up the good work.

And here's the English translation (freely translated, so sorry for any grammar errors): -
Looks very useful. I hope it's real.
-
Because it has already participated in another contest. And according to the rules, 'Entries should be new (never posted anywhere previously)'. Thanks anyway for the positive comments.

I haven't built any other Landmark MOC's. Maybe I will in the future, but I'm not sure about that. I like to build various stuff, as you can probably notice by looking through my Brickshelf.
-
Thank you very much. I'll let you know if I use this in one of my MOC's.
-
That's quite clever. I didn't know these tiles with clips could be wedged between those bars, so thank you for explaining.

Love the whole diorama, especially the fireplace with the light brick. Is there a possibility that you could take a picture of how the light brick was built into the fireplace? With your permission, maybe I'd like to use that idea for a future MOC. So could you please take a picture of how the light brick is intergrated into the fire place and PM it to me? Thanks in advance.

TAFOL replied to Yatkuu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Congratulations Yatkuu for achieving this milestone. I can't wait to find out what TLG decides to do with your winning entry. It'd be the end of May once we find out if your project probably is going to be turned into a product, right? After all, it took the Minecraft-project nearly 2 months to pass the Review-stage. -
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Great movie, though I didn't quite get many details as I've never read the book. I guess many things won't confuse me once I've read the book some day.

Tachikoma! (Ghost in the Shell)

You've got my vote as it's an amazing model. I hope you succeed. Good luck. -
Though a little gruesome, I love your MOC. Great way to use the red cape. I like the expression on the minifig, by the way.
-
Or a sick minifig.
-
Looks great. Are you also planning on shrinking the rest of the Dino sets? Though I'm wondering about something: How did you attach these parts to the front gate? I keep on wondering how you did that, but I'm still puzzled by it.
-
I wholeheartedly agree. Welcome back to LEGO, FarligOpptreden.
-
Nice minifig. Can't wait to get one. I'd like to know the answer to this question too as I'm living outside the USA. Seeing as the Super Heroes sets haven't even started to appear here, I'm certainly wondering whether this Hulk-fig is coming to Holland too.
-
I'm sure I will, The Blue Brick.

Hi Noelle, welcome to Eurobricks. If my calculations are right, I have exactly 1 Harry Potter set, which is 4736 Freeing Dobby. And I only bought this set for the tan 45 degree inverted slopes, simply because I needed them in a MOC. But don't worry. If I see set 4841 somewhere (my favorite set of the current line) for a reasonable price, it's surely mine! Anyway, again welcome to Eurobricks. I hope you'll be having a great time here.
