    HUGE Monorail Collection for Sale

Hey Horse, sorry for the late response. The total for that set would be $993. I would do it for $940 plus shipping. Show your friend the lot and see if he wants the rest to save on shipping. On another note, I would take $2,600 + shipping for the entire collection.

    I can't PM you either. Here's and email: 6grhr-4564827376@sale.craigslist.org
  4. THIS LOT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. I have a big collection of Monorail I want to sell. More than 350 track and motor pieces. They are all in good condition. All motors work. Here's the list of stuff, including the average price on BrickLink for each piece over the last 6 months. I'd like to sell this in as few transactions as possible. If you make a big order we can talk discount. Other than that, the BrickLink prices seem fair. Reply here or PM me for more info. The collection is in Buffalo, New York, USA. And now for some pictures. -=- Proof -=- -=- General Overview -=- -=- Close Ups -=- -=- -=- -=- -=- -=-
  5. Hi, everyone. While I don't get to build much because my collection is 500+ miles away, I'm always on the lookout for good examples of North African and Islamic LEGO creations. I've compiled a nice list and I thought I would share it with the Kaliphlin Guild, which shares many architectural styles with those cultures. You'll see quite a few pieces of work from EuroBricks members--and from Kaliphlin, in particular. Please let me know any other creations I should add to the list. Arabian Bazaar

Hi guys, welcome to the Arabian Bazaar! Flickr. Reddit with a little Q&A. I built this over the Christmas holiday in about ~10-15 hours. It's my first ever full-scale MOC. Unfortunately, I don't get build but 2-3 times a year when I am back home. Needless to say, that doesn't stop me from picking up sets here and there. Enjoy. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= The town's mosque and fountain are an inviting rest stop for weary traders and pilgrims coming in from the desert. There's nothing like shade and cool water to pick up the spirits of a tired traveler. The city guards are on the lookout for trouble makers. There's one now! Get that child out of the fountain! A small oasis deep in the barren desert.
  7. So, I've been a bit bored recently and I thought of this. If you are considering how to maximize the value of the money you spend on LEGO there are many things to consider. First, what is value? The play-value, the potential of the bricks in each purchase, or the average cost per brick? Because the first two are ephemeral and up to the individual, we can only calculate the cost per brick with accuracy. I used my copy of the LEGO Holiday 2008 Catalog to gather my data. I found myself wondering how much it would cost if I bought every LEGO System set in it. And how much each brick would cost individually in the total purchase price. Let's consider the cost per brick of a small, medium and large set. 5620 Street Cleaner $3.49 22 Pieces $3.49/22 pieces = $0.159/piece --- 7726 Coast Guard Truck with Speed Boat $39.99 361 Pieces $39.99/361 pieces = $0.110/piece --- 10179 Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon $499.99 5,195 Pieces $499.99/5,195 pieces = $0.096/piece --- It quickly becomes obvious that, in general, the larger the set you buy, the more cost-efficient it is. So, I added up the price and piece count of of every non-bionicle, non-technic set in the catalog. This is what I got. TOTALS $6,469.27 76,599 Pieces $6,469.27/76,599 pieces = $0.0845/piece 76,599/$6,469.27 pieces = 11.483 pieces/$1 --- There are of course, outliers and sets that do not follow the norm. Here's a graph of the data. [i excluded the sets above $200 because they severely stretched the graph horizontally.] Any sets above the black line represent good value in their price range, and vice versa. The set with the highest Brick/Dollar ratio is 4997 Transport Ferry $69.99 1,279 Pieces $69.99/1,279 pieces = $0.0547/piece --- The set with the lowest Brick/Dollar Ratio is 7723 Police Pontoon Plane $39.99 215 Pieces $39.99/215 Pieces = $0.186/piece --- This could also be done by weight, and I suspect that data factors more in the the LEGO Company's bottom line, but that information is not listed in LEGO catalogs. It would be interesting to add up the total prices and piece counts in past and future catalogs to see if the average cost per brick increases or decreases with time. Also, in case you're wondering, you could purchase all the sets included in the calculation by saving about $130 per week for 50 weeks (I assumed you wanted some vacation). That's $3.2 per hour if you're working the American standard 40 hours/week. Download the spreadsheet and take a look.

Phase 2: Now Comes the Fun Part.

I like the ship, but the bat wings and tentacles are out of place. Also, the purple wedge is lonely and the color doesn't work.

    Conventional truck zil.

That is great. I like the doors especially. I think that the brake lights and blinkers on the back of the truck should be flat plates, not 2/3 angles.

Provide me with links to worthwhile MOCs and I'll add them.

    Zombie Apocalypse Index

Man, it seems like I am catching some serious flack for this thread. Of course an index or reference would only include creations that the general community finds superior and worthy of emulation. I am not the judge and jury in this case, as this thread is written hoping to benefit builders of this genre.

    Zombie Apocalypse Index

Ok, I'll rename it and you can do with it what you will. Thanks for the advice. I disagree. I think that this should highlight Zombie MOCs, and should not be part of a larger index, but we'll leave that up to the mods. I think that an index is useful only if it directs the reader to quality creations, otherwise what is it for? I'll do the thumbnails today. Stabilize your camera and add some more stuff, I like the way it looks!

No, I won't resize them lol. There are too many and now EB resizes pictures which is very helpful. Sorry if you're on 56k. I'll take a look at you IA thread, and see if it fits my criteria. I think that Doomsday is just post apoc, what I will do however is expand this list to include radioactive zombies as well. I agree, my reasoning for putting it in here was "adventure", but that's not quite right. I think it should also be stickied. Would a moderator move it to OT?
