Thank you very much for watching and commenting!
In my last video, the music was too low, and now it's too high, I guess I need to find some balance :) thanks for pointing this out.
Regarding the stick - I guess you mean that red pointer - it's simply several axle connectors (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=6538c&ccName=4513174#T=C&C=5) connected into a longer stick, where at the end I connected a pan piece (https://brickset.com/parts/6196548/plate-1x1-round-w-horizontal-3-2-shaft) and on top of it I put a corner plate (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=2420&idColor=5#T=C&C=5)
Hope that helps :)
I also reviewed some castle sets, you are welcome to checkout those out as well.

Hi!
I'd like to share with you my review of set 6279... I did this for fun, but it was a ton of work :)
Anybody here has this set? What do you think about it?

I summarized my mods in a video. I think the video shows them more clearly than the pictures I posted earlier, plus I've made extra mods since then. Please excuse the camera work, I'm really not experienced in making videos. Enjoy!

update:
I worked more on the pier/dock:
- I made the transition from the fortress to the pier more organic, by extending the rocky terrain a bit into the pier area
- I modified the transition between the fortress walkway to the pier to consist of some planks in an angle
- I've completely redone the guard post: it is now bigger and taller, and has some area for storage and even a table for the guard
- I tried to make the color transition of the water more gradual by including the brighter shade of blue immediately after the sand.
- I added more goods to be unloaded from the merchant ship.
I left the photo of the old version of the pier in the album so that you can compare the two.
BTW: I tried incorporating the tear-shaped machicolations from original fortress into the new fortress and the guard post, and they looked a bit out of place.
Enjoy!

13 hours ago, eldiano said:amazing work! it reminds me of the Imperial Trading post with the extended pier!
@eldiano thank you so much. I intend to rebuild that dock from scratch, as it looks too basic compared to the fortress. Maybe I'll adapt the water/wood colors to better match the ones of the fortress. I hope to post another update once done.

Hi,
I got the set about a week ago and I've been modifying it lightly since then. Everything you're about to see is work in progress.
Overall, I love this set. It is beautiful.
The changes include:
- enclosing the governor's office and adding a ladder to the top tower
- broadening the top tower so there's more room for minifigs (this is basically part of enclosing the governor's office)
- adding a small balcony next to the governor's office
- adding a palm tree near the entrance
- adding a lantern towards the end of the wooden walkway to the right
- adding some seaweeds/roots near the palm trees at the left of the entrance
- moving the governor's office canon to the jail tower
- adding a small ladder at the back beach, mounted by the pirates for invading the fortress
- replacing all the black floor at the fortress main yard with a grey one with a see-through piece so that you can see the pit below
- adding a wooden pattern to the treasure hatch door
- and, lastly, adding a dock, a-la imperial trading post. This one's really in progress.
I hope you enjoy.

Thanks a lot! I might try one of those builds
Yeah, Lego was so expensive these days, even more than today, contrary to common belief. I was actually sure this set came with an alligator and was surprised to find out it didn't.
