Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

The set's not being targeted to little kids, though - this is clearly an 18+ set. Though Lego has rubber-ized plenty of other mold like horns and spears though... I think it's moreso about the details on the molds - either of those might have been tricky to make using a standard hard mold. Not impossible... Just harder and more expensive, which it seems like Lego didn't think was worth it.

I was thinking that, but Echo snuck in (albeit probably because of a rating change). So, it's not impossible.

    LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

I'll give it a go, but go a little bit wider: Midna, with Wolf Link as the accessory (which can then be reused for normal wolves) Sheik Zelda (based on the Smash design?) Ganondorf (OoT?) Tingle Either Fi or Ghirahim, for SS representation Skull Kid Toon Link Toon Zelda/Tetra A ReDead Master Kohga/Yiga Clan Purah (maybe with tall and short legs?) Or, if you wanted a mix of more of Hyrule's species, then possibly: Midna, with Wolf Link as the accessory (which can then be reused for normal wolves) A Zora of some variety A Rito of some variety Ganondorf (OoT?) Tingle Either Fi or Ghirahim, for SS representation Skull Kid Zelda (based on her Smash design?) A Goron of some variety A ReDead Master Kohga Purah (maybe with tall and short legs?) That's just a random assortment without a ton of thought, but it's a possible start.
  4. Source? I didn't notice anything on @TandNbricks's Instagram. Not to mention the fact that a third Simpsons series makes zero sense - the second one bombed, and what interesting characters are left? That leak comes from a gaming leaker, which makes me think it has something to do with either Lego Fortnite, or Lego bonus items in a game, like the Sonic skins. Unless we hear more, I'm not going to assume we get any physical bricks. That's a best an educated guess, not a leak until there's actual set numbers/descriptions. Again, source? This is the first I've heard of it. I also haven't heard anything about the Indiana Jones theme coming back - heck, the rebooted sets haven't even retired yet! So, yes, unless you can direct to more specific information, it's just clickbait - especially when most of it has nothing to do with Star Wars.

    Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

You're probably right, but there might be enough shows out/almost out to have a January wave. X-Men 97, Agatha, What If Season 2, Daredevil (out a few months later, which is the same gap Echo was), and, if they go back further, Loki 2 or Secret Invasion (though I imagine they'd skip Secret invasion). They might even have designs for YFN Spider-Man, since that's gotten delayed so many times. But, yeah, later in the year is probably more likely.

    Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

That minifigure lineup sounds... Fine. A baseline of the characters I would expect. But, for a $300 set, I would have needed a great or exceptional line of minifigs to get me more interested - especially if I already have three of the characters from the last CMF. Ah, well, here's to hoping for a Gambit mech next summer... Though, if we want to theorize about getting Jubilee, Nightcrawler, Cable, Sinister, etc as minifigs, there's a small chance the January CMF wave could be Marvel. Or, at least, one of the ones for next year. If so, it might make sense why Morph is in the mansion - his printing would be pretty simple - over those others, who might need more complex printing. If that is the case, then we would probably know who's in that series by the time the mansion releases, at least.

Wait, so the Mithril shirt is a sticker... Again?! That's super lame. Sure, the foresight to make that part a print wasn't apparent with Rivendell, but now that both sets are out, that just feels like penny pinching.

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

Here's my suggestion: have a set available as a GWP for a certain time, then let it have a retail release 3-6 months later (maybe even keep it exclusive to Lego.com). Those who buy early get early access to the set, but no one is locked out of it completely, and Lego gets money from both the early access people and those just wanting the set (or those wanting multiple, like with the Droid Carrier). Yeah, maybe that's not a perfect solution, but it might satisfy most customers. I also don't want there to be any kind of desirable exclusives locked behind big sets. I can swallow things sub-$200 or so, which is what got me to buy the Viking Village to get the Galileo set. But, say, if the Witch King/Eowyn were locked behind a narrow buying window on a super expensive set? Nah - that's no good, IMO.
  9. Nah... That doesn't sound right to me. Why have Young Leia as an Anniversary Figure, but then package her in a set that she already "matches" with? If they wanted to make a buildable LOLA with a Leia minifigure, that's one thing, but that makes more sense as an Obi-Wan Kenobi set, not an anniversary thing. That, and if that set was a thing, that thing would rot on shelves. The stores around me still can't get rid of the Lola toys that released with the series - an expensive Lego version would be an even more difficult sell.
  10. I think you're correct. I remember some of hints being "they're not a main character" and "their name has an O", and a lot of people were thrown off of Leia because of that first hint. I'm still willing for it to be a one-off goof from that leaker, though.

So, now that we've got new molds and prints, we can reuse them in smaller, cheaper sets for those of us who don't have the money for these $500 sets... Right? Due to the cost, I won't be able to buy this, but I still think that it looks like a great set. The new minifigs all look really good to me, besides Gollum - his arms now look really stubby, and he's got the same cataracts that Maul and Ezra have. I also think that Sauron looks fine as he is - I think the Avatar limbs would look wacky. It's a shame they skimped on the mace, though, when they obviously made other new molds throughout the set. And having a little more height on the tower maybe would have helped with the proportions, but I imagine it's another case of "how it looks IRL vs in photos." Happy for those that will be able to get it, but I'll just have to enjoy the photos!

So it begins... I don't think sets are typically revealed on Sundays, so we'll probably see what it looks like (and possibly even the GWP) on Monday or Tuesday, if my guess.
  13. With as many new minifigures as there are for the Harry Potter sets, I don't think a third Harry Potter wave will be likely. A bunch of ghosts, teachers, critters, etc are in new sets, and I think the list of minifigures that could make up a meaningful minifig series (especially after the mandatory Harry/Ron/Hermione/Dumbledore variants) is getting smaller every wave. It could even the the case that those new minifigs help push expensive sets, letting Lego get more money than just having them in a CMF (IE, Bill in a Shell Cottage set might sell more units than just having him in a CMF). Most of the discussion about the series has been over in the Historic forum, so you could have missed it that way! That, and we got descriptions/ a leaked leaflet fairly early. A stegosaurus is my guess!
  14. If we want to start making predictions, I think it'll be a licensed series in January 2025. Lego has usually had a 2:1 ratio of licensed to normal numbered series, but this year we've gotten Series 25, 26, and D&D. So, I could see the year starting off licensed to "make up" for it. So, I think it could go: Licensed, unlicensed, licensed next year. As far as specific themes go? Well, for licensed ones, I could see it being Fortnite or Animal Crossing still - either of those would be pretty popular. The one towards the end of next year could maybe go back to either Disney or Marvel (specifically an X-Men '97 series - especially if it launces near Season 2!). As far an unlicensed theme goes, I would love a Castle series to mirror the Space one we just got, but I don't think that'll happen - it'll probably just be the usual assorted dozen.

That's totally fake. The "label" on the top isn't even on straight, and it's missing any kind of imagery on the sides or top for the scale. Not to mention the fact that the minifigs are huge compared to the build, and we can only see two (and we know a lot more than two in the final build). Cast that fake into the fire! Destroy it!
  16. Well, that should put to bed any doubt about those oddball sets later this year! Darth Jar-Jar is real! I doubt full set images will release anytime soon, though. The short won't be out until September, and we have other minifigures that have been teased first that haven't have their sets revealed yet (Ezra and young Leia).
  17. Tantive IV playset? Unless it's another new Escape Pod set - it's been a few years since we've gotten one of those. Also, it looks like Tarkin isn't on the star destroyer, so that Big Brother Tarkin theory could be wrong (unless it's a hint towards a January set) I didn't notice any BD-1 in any of those set photos... Wasn't he in the trailer that first showed off Cal, though? I wonder if he's still around.
  18. Glad Rex looks so nice! And everything else in the wave looks pretty good too, though I'll only be getting the Y-Wing. The only issue with that is every AFOL is going to try to sell off their Y-Wings since they only want Rex Probably the same route with the mech, but not near as bad as the Y-Wing.

    Animal Crossing 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Nice find! Golly, Resident Services looks tiny from the back. It's only 18 studs across, compared to Fauna's house which is 14, and I think it's only a stud or two deeper. There's not even room for the desks! It's also too bad there doesn't seem to be any easter eggs on the bulletin board... A note from Redd, Blathers, Joan, or Lief would have been a cool nod. And, if I get to continue to nitpick, I think having two clips on the flag would be preferable to one. That just feels like it's asking to break as-is. Overall, this one feels a little underwhelming to me, and probably should have been two separate sets with the RV as a stand-alone. Then again, Rosie and Nook were together, so it's not unheard of. At least it has lots of little "bits" to play with, with the cupcakes, music box, and instruments, but I'm pretty underwhelmed, especially as an $80 set. That being said, the airport is even more laughable. That interior is not super good looking - especially the plant. I do like the exterior slightly better than Town Hall, though, and the sea plane is fine for what it is. I do feel like it's missing a little heart, though. Maybe a fishing pole, so you can fish off of the pier? Introduce some fish shadows to go in the water? Some wildlife other than just a generic crab? (At least the Kapp'n Marshall set had a much cooler hermit crab) I dunno, but something feels a little off to me. Overall, I think these two sets are much weaker than the first wave. I feel like the first wave had a lot of heart to most of the sets, with lots of fun little details like fossils, Bells, and DIY cards - just something do do and explore. I feel like these sets are really missing some of that charm. At least the figures are as solid as ever, and hopefully I can get a couple of them on Bricklink without completely ruining my wallet. Overall, though - I feel pretty "meh" compared to Wave 1.

    Animal Crossing 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I really do think the only way Lego is going to deliver a satisfactory representation of Animal Crossing characters is going to be through a CMF. There's just a lot of characters to go through, and if we only get 1-2 new ones per set, there's no way Lego can produce a huge number of them to cover all of the villagers and NPC's people want. So, hopefully January or May next year!
  21. Huh... TIL! I only know him from Return of the Jedi, and, in the back of my head, I thought the camera made him look short in comparison to Lando. You're right, though - regular minifig legs seem to be correct!
  22. If it was consistent, then I could maybe be more okay with it. But compare his eyes to, say Sabine. Or any of the other minifigs from the Ahsoka wave. Or, heck, basically every other human minifigure from the group photo at the end of the video. He sticks out like a Rancor in a pack of Wampas. If Lego's trying something different for the alien humanoids, that's one thing (and I still don't like how that looks either), but Ezra isn't like that, and should probably have his eyes like the rest of the human characters. As-is, he looks like blind Kanan: Agreed, but I doubt Lego would have been able to justify a new mold for Lola, and it might not have looked right as a 1x1round tile. I doubt that means anything. Ezra was the only minifig from the Peridia set, and we didn't see anyone from the Jabba's Sail Barge/Sarlac Pit. I imagine Lego wants to keep a few surprises for full set reveals.
  23. Well, that puts to rest any discussion about Young Leia being misinterpreted. In some of the shots, it looks like Ezra is suffering from Maul syndrome and doesn't have pupils, which makes him look blind (see 1:59 in the video, for example). Odd choice, if the minifig also looks that way, but I guess it's the style they went with for Ahsoka and Hera. Not a fan, personally. I also find it odd that Nien has regular sized legs. I guess I assumed he would have had midi-legs? Other than a few nitpicks, though, I think they all at least look pretty good - and I'm glad that BD-1 also seems to be coming with Cal!

    Animal Crossing 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Images for Wave 2 are now out! The smaller set is the airport, with Tangy and Wilbur, and the larger set is Town Hall, with a fall Isabelle, K.K. Slider, and Audie. As a kneejerk reaction, I think that I like Wave 1 a lot more than I like these two sets - especially with their prices in mind. The airport's a little trick for me - that's something that is very much tied to New Horizons, while most of the other sets could, without too much of a leap in logic, take place in other games. I also find it interesting that the Dodo Airlines sign is printed in English, especially compared to Nook's Cranny, which didn't have any writing on it's sign. Looking at Town Hall, I think the set's got a lot of filler to justify the cost. The RV probably takes up a lot of the part count, but I don't think it adds a lot to the set. That easily could have been a smaller $10-15 set without needing to tack in on to Town Hall. I also wish we got a new music title, instead of reusing Forest Life. Overall, I think this wave might turn more into finding the individual minifigures than seeking out the whole sets for me. Though, that could change as we see more photos!
