Latest news about Lego animal moulds

Definitely similar to last year's spooky pack, but I'm glad to get a cat. Also the food selection is notably good with cookie and waffle prints, bread, apples, and pumpkin pie!
  2. Hearing that the Tantive IV Boarding may not be a diorama actually makes a lot of sense. The price point is really low for an 18+ set (especially one with minifigs) given what they've been putting out the past few years. This could present a much better value as a simplified play/display set like the Dark Trooper Attack, and leave space for extra minifigs to fill it out.
  3. Absolutely! Thank you Renown for clearing up some of the misconceptions. I feel like this is the 10th time in a week we've been misled by some "rumor" started by Lifebricks and then quoted by somebody (i.e. brickreporter) 🙄 I look forward to finding out what the builds will actually be!

Really looking forward to seeing the Burger Truck. The $20 food truck/vans have consistently been some of my favorites!

    Jurassic Park/World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Brickmerge tells us we're getting 2 sets in January, which is interesting in and of itself. 76963: Baby Dinosaur Rescue Center - $39.99 (139p, 4+) 76964: Unknown set - $39.99 (577p) Curious as to what these could look like? That second one has a lot of pieces for $40, so I don't know what dinosaur could be included, unless it's brick-built or something?

Disappointing, though not unexpected. I don't see a reason to pick this one up (animal-wise) since both the dog and kitten are available on PAB.
  7. "Minifig-scale" is always hard to define given the non-human proportions of a figure, but this gunship seems to be pretty close going off Lego's size description. It looks about 10% smaller than it "should" be, but no doubt the previous playsets were somewhat oversized compared to what would be canon accurate.
  8. Yeah I'm pleasantly surprised, the build looks pretty decent and I'm a fan of the figures personally! I hope it reflects well in person :)
  9. I've literally seen this happen multiple times now. People need to stop listening to Lifebricks as if his word is gospel; half of his videos are purely speculation (but enough to stretch the runtime to 10 minutes for that sweet ad revenue, lmao)
  10. Thinking out loud, I'd advise nobody gets their hopes too high on the Tantive IV diorama, just given it's price point. Considering LEGO charged $80 for the rather small Endor diorama, I can't see the hallway being very built-up, nor it having more than 3-4 minifigs (tops).
  11. I agree; they definitely seem to be pushing the 18+ sets in the first half of the year (diorama, midi, buildable, UCS, etc.) The downside there is that the 18+ sets routinely have higher mark-ups and fewer minifigs compared to playsets of the same size, even if they are more detailed and appeal to the "adult collector" market. Just my opinion, but I hope to see more playsets revealed in the unknown sets.
  12. I don't think anything definitive is known, but based on the price my guess is a BARC speeder/sidecar/pram as the build, with a clone or two thrown in to justify $30.
  13. Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if this is in the works. After the Trench Run Diorama retires this year it would make sense to have a similar micro-scale diorama (no minifigs) on shelves, and the Mos Espa race is indeed pretty iconic as far as Star Wars scenes go. I wonder what the quote would be?
  14. Fair enough Brickclicker's newest video references Lifebricks for the rumored clone battle pack and YJA ship, so presumably he feels confident in those being real. Combined with Renown's comment, I'm guessing a January '24 $30ish clone battle pack with B2s is a pretty sure thing at this point?
  15. Okay now this is the content I'm here for!
  16. Please be wary of anything lifebricks puts out as a "rumor". The guy is a clickbait expert at this point and constantly makes predictions that turn out to be nothing. If he does have a real source for this one, it's possible, but at this point I wouldn't put any stock in what he says until a reliable leaker confirms it.

    Jurassic Park/World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Last year's rumor/leak of the JP 30th anniversary wave came out in November, so I can't imagine we'll have anything about next year's possible sets for at least a few months. That being said, my fingers are crossed for more new moulds: Stegosaurus and a Hadrosaur would be ideal :)
  18. The build looks pretty good, I'm looking forward to in-hand reviews. Minifig selection is solid, though for the price it really should include 1-2 more characters.

I keep hoping that City will do a full woodland animal rescue subtheme instead of just the occasional camping set here and there. I fully agree. I'm hoping next summer's subtheme is forest wilderness like you've described or tropical rainforest/jungle. Lots of great opportunities for recolours and new moulds!

@Roebuck Out of curiosity, would you ever release an update to your original 2017 bar graph? I'd be interested to see how the last few years stack up against some of the previous heavy hitters like 2013-15. No pressure of course!

    Jurassic Park/World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I get what you're saying about the lack of variety, but to be fair all of these sets are based on the Jurassic Park movie specifically, and they are fairly faithful to what appears on screen. There weren't many other "interesting" vehicles to be included here without making some up and defeating the purpose of a 30th anniversary wave.

Oh interesting! I didn't know that, I guess it makes sense why City gets so many animal moulds every year.

I wonder if they were able to cost-share the otters to some degree with the Ideas A-Frame, since one was included in that set as well, and just a month later?

Agreed, I like the set but it could have really used an extra chicken or two to fill things out. Hopefully we keep getting different animal battle packs next year!
