Latest news about Lego animal moulds

I'll try to temper my expectations regarding Series 27, but here's hoping there's something surprising in there :) The past few series have usually done 2 new moulds, and 1 new reprint/colour, so that's what I'm expecting here. Maybe a small-ish wolf mould and a new cat print/colour, plus a mystery mould?

    Love the bonsai trees!
  3. I agree, while it was definitely pricey and could have used extra figures, the build was phenomenal. I ended up buying a second when it was on a good discount just because it was so solid and well built. I get that it isn't a popular ship per se, but if it had been $60 with 2 extra Corpos, it would be an S tier set imo.
  4. I do hope we get more, simply because there are still some obvious choices to be made in the format. It'd be crazy if they don't do a Mustafar diorama next year (as overpriced as it will inevitably be)
  5. The year is 2031. The 9th remake of Anakin's Jedi Interceptor is released on shelves for $100. It has 246 pieces and only 1 minifigure. Many people still buy it Day 1 so Lego starts preparing the next one to be $110.
  6. I hope there are more figures if it really turns out to be $45. Otherwise I just don't see how that price can be remotely justified.

Nice haul! I forgot that they have plain purple butterflies, I need to order some for my collection next time :)
  8. I'm totally fine with getting all this off-the-wall stuff from LSW. The problem these days is that with so few regular sets, allocating 20% of the theme's playsets to a one-off animated special means we are getting even fewer "normal" playsets. If they would go back to 25+ LSW playsets a year, 3 RTG sets wouldn't really be getting in the way.
  9. Hopefully we get him in 3 different versions, each one more expensive than the last, including a $200 version that features an "exclusive" minifigure for the investors! This is what toys are all about, right?
  10. Please... enough with the buildables! If this keeps up we'll be getting 2 playsets per year by 2030.
  11. Realistically I'm not getting my hopes up. But it really should have a few great character inclusions like these in order to be worth close to $45. Obi-Wan's Starfighter from 2022 is still on shelves for $30, and even that included a new mould for the Kaminoan. So accounting for a bit of inflation, I just don't understand Ahsoka's interceptor being higher than $35. Where this extra $10 of budget will go, I have no idea.
  12. This isn't aimed at you, but because multiple people have said it: There is no confirmation on the price so far, so it doesn't do us much good to comment on that aspect until it's been verified.
  13. Obviously the price is not yet confirmed, but I think anywhere between $35-40 does feel fair. The vehicles are slightly more substantial than the usual battlepack/microfighter build, and 6 figures plus a new astromech is still far and above the typical 3ish minifigures we get at this price point. Consider Yoda's starfighter only including 2 figs (one of which is an astromech) for $35. This has five additional figures and likely a higher total build volume. Not that it's a high bar, but if this was $45, it wouldn't be the most egregious example of an overpriced LSW set in recent years.
  14. Really excited for this set! The OG Rebel and Imperial battlepacks are classic and this does a decent job of paying homage to them. I'm happy to have a reasonable option for building up non-clone armies, and I personally like the scout speeder design (based on the one picture we have). Now we can only hope the price isn't completely insane.
  15. It's probably not a hard rule, but there are likely limits on how many sets Lego wants available at a time for any given theme (i.e. for shelf space/inventory/marketing purposes). So by necessity, if LSW plans for additional display sets, they probably have to scale back the number of playsets to compensate (or vice versa).
  16. Yes please! Recently we've only been getting 15 or so playsets per year. Even 5-10 more on top of that would go a long way to adding variety in terms of minifigs and system sets. That could mean the difference between, for example, 3 total ROTS playsets next year vs 6-8. It widens the possibilities by so much compared to yet another buildable droid or whatever.
  17. I'm definitely curious to see if they'll justify the price in some way. Jedi Bob's starfighter should really be $35 max in today's market (and that's pushing it a bit), so the only way $45 for Ahsoka's makes any sense is if there is a really solid minifig lineup (ideally four figs at minimum), and maybe a tiny side build to pad it out.
  18. I agree, and we've had much more niche characters from other movies or shows. Shmi and 3PO wouldn't even require new moulds; is it really that difficult to squeeze them into a set somewhere? Literally a few extra minifig-focused playsets per year could help even out a lot of these issues. This year could have introduced a new Watto's Junkyard or something, but it seems like the overall numbers of sets in the theme is more restrained than it was several years ago.
  19. I wholly agree with this comment. I understand the appeal to some degree, and clearly they must be selling with the older fans, but the number of display-type sets and "buildables" is far too high these days in my opinion. We are getting far fewer minifigures now than we used to, as you point out, which is a shame as there are so many desirable characters that Lego has never made, or hasn't remade in many years. Minifigures have huge play value as well as being collectible, and I don't think anybody would be upset with a higher number of them being available on shelves at different price points. For the TPM 25th anniversary this year, for example, they only released one regular playset (with just 3 TPM minifigs at that), unless you also count the GWP Droid Carrier. But we have also gotten a buildable R2-D2, a buildable C-3PO, a buildable Droideka, and a 4-pack of buildable droids (with yet another R2-D2), not to mention a microscale diorama, multiple BrickHeadz, and a plethora of other sets that don't contain or focus on the figures. Granted, some sets have had better minifigure counts than average (Clones vs Droids battle pack, Tantive IV hallway, etc.), but it isn't enough with the total number of sets these days to give us figure tallies like we had 5-10 years ago. I think Lego Star Wars is doing many things well these days, but skimping on figures is definitely not one of them!
  20. This seems likely to be another midi. Dioramas haven't yet been as cheap as $50, nor have helmets recently (and they are supposedly retired). I'm assuming it's a midi ship around the same size as the current Invisible Hand.
  21. Absolutely. Dooku is probably the most significant character to go this long without a minifigure re-appearance, and I'd sorely like to add him to my collection!
  22. To be fair, if it's anything like this year, they don't typically include tons of the "anniversary" sets in the January wave. It's still possible we get several ROTS-themed sets in May or June/August.
  23. Home One let's go! N-1 as in a normal N-1? Or Mando's?
  24. Do we know if it's a Delta-7 or Eta-2 style?
