"A broken clock is right twice a day" comes to mind. His videos are notorious for clickbait-y hunches and predictions, so take whatever he says with a grain of salt. Rarely, he actually has access to real information, but I typically wait until it's confirmed by more trustworthy sources. -

Tandnbricks seems to think the two more expensive sets look fun. Wondering if either will have new moulds? 🤞 -

Am I correct in thinking it was mentioned Maul would be a minifig in a set from the first half of the year? If that's the case, it can likely only be in May, and typically most of the May sets these days are 18+ oriented, thus a diorama is more likely in my eyes than a playset. -

No I don't think that's been confirmed anywhere, I was just speculating based on what we know (regular Maul coming in 1HY, TPM anniversary, only 1 diorama confirmed so far so a second would make sense). I wouldn't be surprised if that's what we get, but no sources have said so as of yet. -

If I'm picking up what you're putting down... seems like we could be getting a TPM anniversary Duel of the Fates diorama in May? 👀 -

We had a Clone Wars Maul a couple years ago, is his Rebels version substantially different? -

I agree wholeheartedly. I would love to see the scene represented in a Lego set, but also have a hard time imagining it being done justice in a way that wouldn't instantly turn off two thirds of the community. Maybe some small parts of the scene could work as individual sets, but it just doesn't lend itself well to a building toy like Lego. -
This is what excites me about the upcoming wave! City really only started going all in on the animals a few years ago, and based on the 2021/2023 subthemes, I expect we'll get a ton of diversity in the new sets :)

Definitely! I'll be shocked if we don't get big cats with their cubs in some variation. I'd also be willing to put money on new butterfly prints, either in City or the Friends sets.

I can't wait to hear more about these! I'm sure there will be the usual price range from the past few years of animal subthemes; really hoping for another good $10 "battle pack" :)
-
I could see them being somewhat agnostic in terms of geography, including animals from more than one continent for broader appeal. The current arctic/ocean subtheme crossover comes to mind in that sense.

Leaked image of the Space CMF confirms the space penguin is the existing mould done in white with some funky printing. There's also a retro character with a grey dog; can anyone tell if it's a new mould, or is that the French Bulldog?

According to reliable rumors for the Space CMF, one of the figures comes with a "space penguin". Not quite what most of us are usually looking for, but I'm curious to see if it's a sci-fi recolour of the existing mould!

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
SketchBrick replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I made this earlier in 2023 and it happens to suit this line of discussion very well. It's the pricing of regular Star Wars battle packs charted by year, with a comparison to the inflation-adjusted prices over the same period. It demonstrates how (from Lego's perspective) battle packs become cheaper every year the price isn't increased, so they're obviously motivated to raise it every so often. It also shows that battle packs were never really $10, since that's equivalent to about $15 in today's dollars. In reality, they've almost always fluctuated between $15 and $20 once we account for inflation - reaching an equivalent of $18.40 in 2017 - so the modern pricing of $19.99 really isn't that unprecedented. Not that I wouldn't like to see these prices come down, but in this instance it's not as egregious as it first seems. -

100% this. I personally think the crazy prices are a far bigger concern than a lot of the relatively minor set/figure issues that get brought up. Maybe a controversial take, but I'd much rather prices come down, than sets be made "perfectly" (always subjective) but at huge markups. I'm happy to support this battle pack for being genuinely good value in this day and age, because that's a rarity for LSW. -
Jungle would certainly be a welcome subtheme, especially with all of the new available moulds like big cat cubs. It also works well as a follow up to the wildlife rescue idea from 2021, with a more conservation-oriented expedition into the rainforest to study different species. Plus there are now lots of great foliage pieces to use for scenery!

Happy to get another colour for the dolphin, plus the mould will be much more accessible now (probably on PaB by May). It even goes well with the ocean sets from this past summer! Oh absolutely. Great use of the mould, and chickens were some of the few remaining farm animals without a baby variant. I will likely buy too many 😄

I'm just so happy with the value proposition. A lot of army builders probably would have spent $30 on this set for the clones OR the droids, but 9 total characters (with x3 each of the new B2s and new plain P2s) and some useful vehicle parts to boot... it's just phenomenal for 2024. Another way to consider it is that it's going to be 4 years since the original 501st set, which if released today would be over $35 after inflation. So the new battle pack basically manages to be cheaper (admittedly by sizing down the builds) AND include 3 new super battle droids. Love it!
