LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
SketchBrick replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah to be honest, the Clone Wars version of him we got a couple years back was pretty much perfect. Even though he's not in his Episode I costume, given the great level of detail and solid facial expression, I'd be willing to say it's the best Maul minifig thus far. -
That's crazy! The well build must be 50+ pieces, how on earth can that be as expensive as a single reused animal mould? I know that prints play a role in piece price, but that seems ridiculous. Very curious to know how this gets weighed by Lego's budgeting department.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
SketchBrick replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I understand some level of excitement for the set, but I don't know if a set based on a small cameo scene from one episode of a series realistically "needed" to happen. I do agree though that getting the Nubian ship with some Naboo guards would have been a better angle for the set, since that would be relatively new content that also works for the 25th anniversary of TPM. Both 501st and Shock clones are available in cheap sets already, as is Grogu. I sort of agree on the pram, though it's pretty easy to build a custom one with simple parts. Beq could have been in the Nubian ship set as an alternative, or I would argue that there are a ton of other small characters that we've never gotten at all that would have led to more interesting sets (e.g. Shmi, Boss Nass, Wat Tambor, Yaddle, Jocasta Nu, Dexster, etc.) -

Looks pretty good. I must admit I'm a bit disappointed that we're getting this set, only because it's a cheap minifigure-based playset that doesn't actually give us anything exciting in terms of characters. Grogu is easily available, as are 501st clones, and Beq is realistically not a figure with a lot of interesting/unique details in comparison to some other Jedi. The scene in Mando was cool, but I can't help but imagine what a different $30 set could have given us. For example, a Phantom Menace playset with Padme/Jar Jar/Boss Nass, or Panaka/Obi-Wan/Padme, or Shmi/Watto/Sebulba (you get the idea). Perhaps the larger issue is how few minifig-based sets we get nowadays with the swaths of new midi-scale/helmet/buildable characters Lego is releasing. So as a result, the Grogu Escape set seems like a missed opportunity for other characters. -
PAB to the rescue! Is it safe to assume the goat here will be available on PAB in a few months since this isn't a licensed set?

A little bit disappointing given the number of moulds available, even if they were just recolours I would have loved to get another cow/calf/horse/etc.

The first pics of the Snow White Cottage have leaked. As far as I can tell, it includes a grey squirrel, white bunny, blue bird, two white birds, and a plain light yellow butterfly. Nothing new, unless more is revealed by the official photos.

Pics of the midi-scale ships have leaked, and y'all are still busy arguing about the clones The ships look fairly good, I think the Invisible Hand is my favourite of the 3, with the Millennium Falcon looking a bit too chunky for my liking. -

Honestly! We've gotten some reasonably priced sets so far this year for a change (4+ notwithstanding). I'm still shocked Lego didn't release the Tantive hallway as a $70 set with 4 figures -

Yeah after he spent several videos last year spreading a post from a eurobricks troll as a real "rumour" (the swamp speeder having Rex and B2s iirc), I stopped listening to him entirely. -
Agreed. If the last few years are any indication though, it's gonna be a long wait until May 1st or so ðŸ˜

We also got the new polar bear cub! So it's 5 in total - I'd be hoping for 5 this year as well :)

Jurassic Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
SketchBrick replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I love these because of how wishlist-y they are! But because of that there's no way Lego will give them to us haha. Mainly the prices for most of these are too low. Given the typical JW pricing, I don't see a world where they charge just $65 for a brand new Stegosaurus plus another dino, a sizeable vehicle, and 5 minifigs. I could see them doing that set though (maybe with a baby Stego instead of the Gallimimus) for $100 or so :) -
That's my hope! The existing price points could certainly fit in a $60-80 set, or even one in the $120-150 range.
-
Question: If I remember correctly, last year weren't there a couple sets that weren't included in the first round of leaks, like the Arctic Explorer Truck & Mobile Lab? I'm seeing both 60427 and 60436 missing from the rumors, but between existing set numbers (like some of the jungle sets). Could we be in store for some as-of-yet-unannounced extra City summer sets?
-
Definitely strong possibilities. I'm also hoping for some new butterfly prints, and maybe new parrot colours?

Exciting news! Definitely happy to be getting the tiger back. Confirmed so far we have: 30665: Meet the Baby Gorilla ($4.99, polybag) 60424: Jungle Quadbike w/ Red Panda ($9.99) 60425: Jungle Explorer Plane ($19.99) 60426: Jungle Explorer Off-Road Vehicle ($29.99) 60437: Jungle Helicopter & Explorer Base ($99.99) There's a new red panda mould confirmed for the $10 set, a new baby gorilla mould confirmed for the polybag (and possibly in a bigger set as well), a new adult gorilla mould(s?) coming in one of the bigger sets, and the return of the tiger mould from 2017 (possibly with cubs?) I am curious to see how things are divided up, and what other new animals may be included. My assumption is that the $100 set will probably somewhat resemble the larger wildlife rescue sets from 2021, with multiple builds and a few different animals.

Is it confirmed that there is a September wave coming that we don't know about yet? (Other than the advent calendar) -
I think this too, it would probably be easier for them to design sets without needing to keep species specific to just one continent. A city-style capybara is certainly a possibility, and there are plenty of good options for smaller moulded animals from South America as well. I also think Lego knows well that the tiger is incredibly popular, and so I'd be surprised if that isn't brought back from the 2017 wave as a representative of Asian fauna (along with cubs!)

Would the polybag count as one of the 5 or 6 Jungle sets? Or is this in addition to the line?
-
Is it safe to assume that set will also contain the baby gorilla? I can't imagine they'd keep the mould exclusive to a polybag.

Baby Gorilla mould incoming! lego_minecraft_goat and 1414falconfan are reporting City polybag #30665 (Meet the Baby Gorilla) for the Summer - hopefully this means we'll see adult gorillas in a larger set
