Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
NostalgicBricks replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Did anyone else think what I thought when they saw that new dog with his ears down in the Marvel CMF? Of course I'd prefer a new mold with his saggy jowels, but it seems Lego doesn't want to do that for Harry Potter non-magical pets as seen with Crookshanks, so I think with printing it could be a nice Fang, finally! His stance and size even remind me of him from the video games. -

You get some large Galleons to add to your Hogwarts Icons display, too. -

Woooow. I got all the 2023 summer wave today for my Birthday, and then to get a Gringotts reveal on top of that is amazing. This set is my favourite set ever and has to be the coolest Lego set I've ever seen. It was worth the wait. I couldn't have asked for anything else. I'm shocked to see such a mixed response to this set - the underground section is amazing. -

While the combined castle certainly looks better than I could have anticipated building the sets separately, seeing the HD picture of it on Ashnflash's video makes it appear far less impressive for me personally. While it does (sort of) follow the outline that we know and love (with the great hall and grand tower leading across the viaduct and with the bell towers at the back, and even a hint of the boathouse), I'm afraid that it all looks rather messy to me. There are large arches on the outside of Dumbledore's Office showing, the entrance to said office should be inside, none of the windows match, the clock tower is just randomly there; and the RoR all seems very open. While it's definitely much better than I could have expected, and it's something 9-year old me would have been ecstatic for, it just doesn't look very appealing for adult-me. I will continue to display this version of Hogwarts interior-focused like a giant Hogwarts dollhouse. Even if the interior room structures aren't that amazing, either, I think the strongest part of this iteration of Hogwarts was the details: the stickers (the fat lady portrait, bed divider, Lockhart's portraits ) and the prints (the skel-e-grow, sweets, bottles, the pixies) and the small builds (the sinks, beds). While I love the 2018-20 sets, and I appreciate the 2018 D2C for what it was, I personally am still holding out for an amazing Hogwarts set (whether in separate sets or as one giant set) as I don't feel that any of the sets have ever captured that magic yet. Perhaps, if I ever get around to it, I'll start that project I've been dreaming of where I build my own Hogwarts using all of the stickers/prints/parts/sets we already have to recreate it in my "image". -

In the UK, the train is a Smyths exclusive. -

Well, I agree with you about the trunk - I'm definitely not getting that or Expecto Patronum. I will look to see if any get good reductions towards the end of the year, in case I still feel like I "need" to be a completionist. But I can also see myself not getting either. Because it wouldn't feel like my birthday (in July) without getting HP Lego, so I'm definitely going to get Battle of Hogwarts and Dobby as gifts (which I assume to be £25-30). I really want Hogwarts Express and WWW for the side builds and figures/accessories, but I don't know if I'd feel good about paying full price for them, or asking for them at full price as gifts, with me having the main buildings already. For the past couple of years I've got a 20% code for Very around my Birthday which I've used for the HP sets, so if I could get the Express and BoH for 20% off I might be more inclined to get WWW at full price from Lego. But then I remember Gringotts is just around the corner, and that I want to save up for the Wizarding World festival in America, so I don't really know. I guess all I know is that I'll definitely get Dobby and BoH. -

For my fellow UK-ers, Smyths toys has 4 of the sets up, confirming the UK prices: Hogwarts Express - £114.99 Battle of Hogwarts - £74.99 Quidditch Trunk - £62.99 Expecto Patronum - £62.99 Weasley's Wizard Wheezes (£84.99) and Dobby (price unknown) must be store exclusives. -

@BacktoBricks I agree with you completely. I, too, hope that next year will be a return to form. Are you planning on buying any summer sets? It's still up in the air for me, which I find so shocking and sad. @Clone OPatra Yep, the second task is fantastic. I would say it's the best set of the year, too. For anyone interested, you can see the back of the battle of Hogwarts (which seems to be a tiny version of the Great Hall) in the 360 video here on the Lego website: https://www.lego.com/en-ae/product/the-battle-of-hogwarts-76415 -

It's a testament to how tragic this wave is that this thread is so dead. It's also very interesting that Lego has announced the summer sets with official pictures and a press release for every other theme except Harry Potter. And only WWW and the Brickheadz are up on Shop @ Home. Yikes. -

If you live in Switzerland, the sets are up on Smyths toys. They have them all except Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes and Dobby. So is the train not a Lego exclusive (it doesn't have a Smyths exclusive banner)? I will be surprised if Dobby is a Lego exclusive. I don't understand why the sets aren't up on Lego Shop @ Home yet (except Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes and the Brickheadz), or why they don't seem to have been officially acknowledged by Lego. I want to know the UK prices. -

Wow, it does look fantastic combined. Perhaps Lego were masterminds and had this all planned from the beginning. Still, I'd like to move on from this Hogwarts style soon, please. Besides, I display the sets interior-facing. I've just been thinking about the Battle of Hogwarts, and I agree that I just can't understand how they could make a set based on this set without statues, giants or spiders etc. -

Oh wow seeing how the Hogwarts set can be dismantled does make it 10x cooler! Even the clock part has a damaged sticker - is it reversible? I still can't see what exactly is in the room - it could be a mini Great Hall with the table and the stickers for the wall lanterns. The bridge setup doesn't look great. The new train interior is VERY cramped. There is a new print for a Galleon and a chocolate frog box on 1x1 circles. There is a toilet in the station hehe. I think Draco and Hermione have new faces. -

The round tile in Harry's hand in the train is a chocolate frog card - not sure what I think about this. The anniversary ones were over large but more detailed. The other boy officially is Lee Jordan - that hair does NOT suit him, but he was one of my most wanted figures. -

So far only WWW and the Brickheadz are up on Lego Shop @ Home UK site. Interestingly, the Brickheadz are using the new 2022 broom pieces. That new ponytail from the Dreams line would be perfect recoloured for a Quidditch World Cup Hermione. -

I'm sorry, but this wave is awful. I don't know if I'm even going to buy any straight away. Expecto Patronum: The stag should be translucent and does not look good in that colour, and what the heck is with the alternative build being Lupin's patronus!? I'm a hardcore fan of the books and I didn't even know that was his patronus off the top of my head. It is also far too large and I'm not sure what those flowers on the base are meant to be? This set should have been a smaller stag alongside the doe with an "Always" plaque. The Battle of Hogwarts: Wow, this is the last time I listen to leaks and rumours. The most exciting part of the set for me (and I'm guessing @BrickBob Studpants) has been removed. The exterior of the castle looks nice and detailed but the courtyard walls just seem off. Being honest, this set is about the figures and they are a let down. The snatcher looks good but why is he here? He should have been saved for a tent set to be the main villain. The new Voldemort and Neville are completely unnecessary. How dare they continue to reuse those awful faces for Bellatrix and Molly (and hair for the latter)!? The arms look nice on Bellatrix, but what's the point without skirt printing? I really hope she gets a printed skirt in Gringotts. I really don't care about getting Molly in that outfit because the costume design in the final film was pretty awful and drab IMO.The wand battle parts look nice, and I can't help but think this should have been a tiny set with just that scene in. The Battle of Hogwarts really needs multiple sets. Where is Seamus? McGonagall and her statues? Narcissa? RON!? IMO they should have put Ron in the RoR. They could have done battle packs for the BoH and people would have loved them. Quidditch Trunk: When I first saw it, I thought it looked nice but the more I look at it the more I don't like it. The minifigs are nice so I wish they'd done a battle pack with them in or something. Dobby the House-Elf: He's a cutie and he's going on my desk. Weasley's Wizard Wheezes: As others have said, the details for the interior are great since the DA version seemed quite bare-bones and unexciting. The little post office looks nice from the outside but the inside is pitiful. I do not understand why they can't make a proper Lavender? This figure is a downgrade from the previous one, too, but her hair looks even more inaccurate. This is why we need a third CMF series. The Pygmy Puff is OK but it should have been a new mould. Again, this is why we need a third CMF. Also, why is Ginny reusing that awful face again? It's nice to get Romilda. Hogwarts Express: This is a beautiful set and looks the best of the wave, but I paid nearly £500 for a Hogwarts Express at Christmas, Lego. This is too soon. The first movie is my favourite movie in the world so it just makes me happy to see sets based on it, so maybe I'm biased. There seems to be so few new moulds this wave. Gringotts better blow me away. -

To me the Pygmy Puff looks like a new mould, but we'll wait and see. Dobby is adorable and he will be going on my desk. WWW looks a bit more basic than the Diagon Alley version (the big statue specifically looks very bare bones) but one of the things I felt about the original WWW was that its interior needed more stuff to make if feel more alive, as it was basically just filled with coloured bricks. So I'll be glad to add the Pygmy Puff cage and the Puking Pastilles boy (and whatever else might be inside) to my big WWW. All of this annoying drip-feeding leaks could have just been avoided if Lego had announced the sets last week. This is way too late IMO. -

I think it's a bit far-fetched to think Lego's marketing team would be aware of the significance of that date, but who knows. Monday is a bank holiday here in Britain but I don't know about Europe, so maybe it will be Tuesday. I definitely think it will be one day next week if not this coming Friday. I hope someone leaks a Fang and Pygmy Puff.
