Thanks! Unfortunately by the way it is designed there is not enough space, but the gear is made in such a way that it's easy to removed and fill the gap (especially in the nose gear).

Hello all! I present to you the first preview of my Douglas DC-9 aircraft I'm currently working on. As of now, I only have the nose section completed, as shown in the image. It's not perfect, since the cockpit windos sit a little too high, but still very happy with it. As of now, I'm building it in white but it will most likely wear the older Iberia livery (not the red and orange one, but the even older one with the red cheatline). The techniques used are not out of this world, mostly snots and angled bricks. Please, let me know if you have any suggestion or feedback!

Hi everyone! This is my recreation of the Spanish high speed train Renfe AVE 102 and 112 series, manufactured and designed by the Spanish rolling-stock company Talgo (which they name Talgo 350). The train is nicknamed as "Pato", which literally translates to "Duck" due to its characteristic nose design, which resembles the one of a duck, apparently it highly reduces air noise. About the train, it was introduced into service in 2005 and is currently the star of the Spanish high speed network (soon to be joined by the new generation train Talgo Avril 106 series) with Renfe having 46 units of them, reaching speeds of 360 km/h with an operational speed of 330 km/h. Amazingly, the train weights very little for it's size and, as with every Talgo, it enables low-flow boarding meaning the door is at the height of the floor, without extra stairs needed inside to access the main cabin, making it very accessible thanks to the special single independent bogie design. As of the MOC, it's a minifigure scale recreation and 7 studs wide. The nose was quite a bit of a challenge, but I think the result was pretty accurate to the real thing. The characteristic bogie system by Talgo is quite hard to make in Lego, with the single wheel configuration, so I can't say the way it is on the model will work perfectly, but doesn't seem to have any issues. It is based off Ferro-Friki's version for the Renfe Talgo S130. Hopefully I can build it one day and test it out! Here some more close-up images of every part: (Ignore this last image, it won't delete)

[MOC] Lego Renfe AVE Talgo 102/112 high speed train
Redrado replied to Redrado's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks! The rear bogie can hold a 9V motor or Power Funcions one (since they are the same size) with some easy modifications. I already have it made in studio, will make sure to publish it later on. -

I was not too happy with the current bogies of the duck, so I redesigned them. This allows me to enlarge the white part towards the bogie, just as the real thing. Also did some minor adjustments to the first coach. -

Added the stickers to the built front section, and also did a few more renders (where you can see a few updates). Also, since the train is the same, did Adif's track and infrastructure testing train "Séneca". Had to make some changes to adapt it to the livery. -

Thanks! And just as Ferro-Friki, I am not entitled to any Spanish LEGO club yet, but once I have something good to show off maybe I will consider it. -
[MOC] Renfe Class 447 Commuter Train Cercanias Livery
Redrado replied to javi31415's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Nice! It’s great to see even more Spanish train creators over here (we’re now 3 active people hehe). It’s simple yet it has some details and it resembles the real thing, which is great. Looks fairly nice for a first try. I would try lowering the train, making it closer to the ground though. I personally like building 7 studs wide (if you want to look through some of my posts like the S102 and S114), as it allows a better and more elaborated constructions without being too large. The issue with 7 wide is that the uneven numbers are harder to build, and have some relatively weirder pieces available. Still, I think it enables the best proportions. -
[MOC] Lego Renfe AVE Talgo 102/112 high speed train
Redrado replied to Redrado's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks! We had had a boom of Spanish trains here already, but we indeed need even more. The tile is connected to a 1x1 brick with studs on two adjacent sides, and since the studs are hollow the tile fits right in the middle perfectly. That brick also holds the light gray 2x3 tile with the other stud. -
[MOC] Lego Renfe AVE Talgo 102/112 high speed train

I have built it in real bricks! Had to order the hinges in gray due to availability, but will order them in dark gray. The build of the nose was rather complex but it all worked well, and the train is stable enough. As of now I just have the front section, but I might build the rest. (PD: it’s not built in Lego bricks, but alternative ones as I had an issue with my BL order and also wanted to try them) -
[MOC] Alstom Pendolino ETR600 (Renfe S114) high-speed train
Redrado posted a topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi everyone! This is my recreation of the Alstom Pendolino ETR600. It's the evolution of the Italian version made by Fiat. The one operated by Renfe is partly made by the Spanish manufacturer CAF too, just like the older version. These trains have four coaches and are designed to have a maximum operational speed of 250 km/h, making "avant" (long distance semi high speed) services in Spain. As many might be aware, the train also operates in Italy, Switzerland and Poland for their respective national operators, with some variations such as the number of coaches. As of the MOC, it's a 7 studs wide model. The nose has some pretty interesting techniques with hinges and brackets, since its structure is made of 6 studs in order to fit well in the roof (as the train has inclined sides). Then, with the help of many hinges the transition is pretty smooth. Also in the nosetip, the help of curved slopes managed to give it its characteristic shape. Note that for the side cockpit windows I had to use custom stickers since there wasn't a way to make it work sadly. I think the doors might have turned too wide, but haven't found a way to make them nicely (since two studs seem too small). Let me know how to improve that! -
What an Interesting idea. Maybe you could build all this system underneath the tracks (extending the base of the "train" itself). This would not only make it cleaner but you could extend this to make some sort of attraction for an amusement park.

Slightly modified again the nose of the 102! This time is the underside of the nose, since before it felt like way too thick, and now made it thinner and more realistic. Hoping to build it pretty soon... -
[MOC] Siemens Velaro high speed train (Renfe S103/DB ICE 3)
Redrado posted a topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi everyone! This is my MOC of the world class high speed train Siemens Velaro, which originally started operations with Deutsche-Bahn as the ICE 3. Since I’m Spanish, I made it in Renfe’s livery, as they have a few units of them. As of the moc, it’s a 7 stud wide recreation as my other train MOCs, with some pretty interesting techniques with hinges (the smaller ones). The nose isn’t 100% accurate, but with the weird shapes of the Velaro, I can’t complain! I know that the cockpit windows’s curved slope pieces aren’t available in trans-black (made by Lego at least) but they can be replaced with normal cheese slopes. Also did it in the Eurostar and DB liveries. -

Thanks everyone for the comments! You’re right that the windscreen should be lowered, but I’ll try to figure how as there’s other parts obstructing it, but I’ll try to work it out. Thanks!! Yes, I have considered separating them BUT from my point of view the space between both lines in the real thing is not large enough to be worth a tile of separation. Also you’re right that it would sort of ruin how smooth lines flow. Will fix the pantograph (again haha). Will surely make the cafeteria soon! I actually thought they’d be harder to make it work as in Talgo trains windows on the cafeteria sit higher… but not this time! -
Wow!! Such a great recreation of the train. Really looking forward to those bent sides on the coaches.

I’ve actually known of his S100 for a while, and it’s in fact a 7 studs model, which makes it even more impressive. What you mention about the covers, I think that it’s just that the inverted slopes are too long, but I’m not certainly sure. -
[MOC] Lego Renfe AVE Talgo 102/112 high speed train
Redrado replied to Redrado's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thank you! I know all your work, which by the way is awesome! I genuinely love your S100, and your S112 is the first ever in Lego probably. -
Hello everyone! This is my recreation of the Spanish high speed train Alstom/CAF S100, the first ever high speed train to run back in 1992. I have made two different versions, one 6 studs wide (the older one) and a 7 studs wide (the new one, which is still a WIP). 6 studs: This model has actually some years already, and this is the latest version. Since it's old, I made it in 6 studs (now I switched to 7). I think the main nose shape is quite decently well captured, despite the limitations. 7 studs (WIP): As I said, this one is currently still a work in progress, as I'm not totally convinced about the shape, since it seems too "squared" and not smooth enough as the real thing, also I don't know how to make those cockpit windows better so they fit well. As of now, I have only made the front section.
-
Thanks for your comment! The gray stripe can be added to the 6 stud version too without issues. About the cockpit windows, I see what you mean but make it work on 7 studs is a bit challenging so I’ll see what I come up with. Thanks! I really want to build the S102 on real bricks. It’s great that you can recognize my building style!

A few more detailed images of the nose! Made some slight changes to the light above the cockpit windows too. I may redesign the bottom part of the nose, to make it a bit slimmer, but I’ll see.
