    Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I'd say we'd get a new head mold. Aside from that, all Indominus components, including the jaw and arms. If we get Atrociraptors, which I'm fairly certain we will, we may get a new head for them, but otherwise all Raptor components.

Yes, but they never explain how Maisie is cloned. I really hope they do not explain it in Dominion. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely. Is there something about the 2021 sets that we want to talk about?

Is she supposed to be a dinosaur-human hybrid? Did she have to hatch from an egg?

    Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Eh, I think he was making a joke; let's not resort to insults. I wish we did have a bit more info for next year, because all we're talking about now is Dominion, the IMAX trailer, next year... hmm. I hope we can scrounge up something more soon. The IMAX trailer is the most recent event, so I understand why we were discussing it. That's so neat! I never noticed that was Lego. I wonder if that's an Easter egg or just a nice addition.

Eh, I'll just wait until the series aires and I can summarize it with the DVD collection or something like that. Thanks anyway!

They're cheap for Lego to make, so if there's a budget cut anywhere, Lego will sniff it out like a dog. I really wish they had not appeared in these sets, as it kind of ruins my view on CC's reputation. I haven't even watched it yet, so I hope Lego will fix this at some point. BTW, are any DVD season collections of CC out yet? I do not want to purchase Netflix, and I like having a hardcopy of movies anyway, so I'd love to know.

    Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

How many new species do you think we could we expect? I'm guessing anywhere from 2 to even 4, although the latter is unlikely. We can pretty much confirm Giga from Bababrick's source, and Atrociraptor may be kind of an optimal choice for Lego, seeing as they might play a higher role in JWD, and it could easily be a recolored Velociraptor (same goes for a Pyro), but by reusing previous molds, Lego could save on budget to make some completely new ones. Allosaurus would be relatively easy to make with Indoraptor body, legs, tail, and jaw, Rex arms, and a new head mold, but it may be a little less likely if it does not have high prominence in the film. Same goes for a Stego, reusing the Ankylosaur belly, legs, and leg connectors, with a new body, head, and tail. For the movie sets, Lego tries to make new dinosaurs that played a recognizable role in the films (except for the Dilophosaurus in 75916). A few examples are the Indominus from 2015 (obviously), and the Stiggy and Carno from 2018, the latter which had been anticipated for awhile in the movie series. We can also likely expect existing species in most of the six main sets and all of the following non-canon sets, like the ones that followed the FK wave back in 2018. Blue is almost undeniably going to appear, as will baby dinosaurs, most likely. Some species that have been confirmed for the movie include Dimetrodon, Lystrosaurus, Compsognathus, and Baby Nasutoceratops, so those are some potentially smaller molds Lego could produce. I just think because that this is the biggest film in the franchise so far, it makes sense we could get more species. Just pure opinion, and I am probably most certainly wrong, but it certainly is fun the speculate. That being said, we may want to wait for more info before we make substantial predictions. I'm pretty sure we can expect a Giga and Blue, but those are our only main guesses with known evidence.

Agreed. I definitely preferred the old Baryonyx printing because it looks a lot more realistic than this year's. I get they were trying to recreate Grim as much as possible, but the colors appear a little too vibrant. I would've gone with a standard green body, a dark nougat underbelly, a dark green back and body stripes, and orange orbits with orange pattern running down the neck and back. Hopefully we'll see Limbo's coloration someday. I'd literally kill for some future CC sets!

    Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I believe the Pyroraptor's movie design includes feathers, so I wonder, taking the raptor arms, Lego could add small wings or branches of feathers, kind of like the eagle or phoenix molds that DBlegonerd7 mentioned. I love that red-blue-tan color scheme in the toy model! Do you guys think that a Pyro could make it into Lego form? Edit: BTW, I just noticed some discrepancy between the previous Baryonyx body and this year's version: two of the small spikes that are in front of where the studs begin are missing. I don't think that would necessarily be just for a budget cut, because it looks like you can now attach a 2x4 without it overlapping the tail. I wonder if that kind of trait will take place next year?

    Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Nope. We don't have solid evidence for feathers in dinosaurs. Really, the closest evidence we have to feathers is tiny muscular tissue fibers that sort of resemble feathers in many dinosaurs: Kulindadromeus, Yutyrannus, Sinosauropteryx, etc. I do have to say, they really do resemble feathers, but they are beneath the dermal layer of skin, so they cannot be feathers unless they are outside of the body. Otherwise, all other dinosaurs with guesswork feathers are either assumptions or speculation. It's really annoying when scientists portray dinosaurs as having feathers when they have no evidence. In fact, we have recently found intact skin for multiple species, like Tyrannosaurus, Utahraptor, Therizinosaurus, Velociraptor, and many, many more, and they have shown only scales and ridges; no feathers. I do remember the Archaeoraptor Scandal though . I would not mind feathered dinosaurs in Dominion, just as a bit of diversity among the seemingly basic placements in the franchise. According to ScreenRant, Oviraptor will be the first feathered dinosaur that appears in the actual film, but I'm not sure if it means the F9 short or Dominion itself. Hm. We may be straying a bit off-topic with this though. If you want to know more, feel free to message me!

    Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Eh, both species have been recognized as birds, like Caudipteryx, Scansoriopteryx, etc. Kinda strange, but there are birds alive today with teeth and claws. It'd be cool to see an Archaeopteryx in the film, though! Hmmm... yeah, just a couple of blurred images. I wonder how they'll play a part in the film, though. I do have to say, that Giga may need to be a bit bigger.

WHAT THE HELICOPTER!??!?!! Those prices are mortifying!! Ouch! I can't get that $360 price for 76942 out of my head!! AAAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGGHHH!!!!!! So not me. As a paleontologist myself, I just have to say that, heck, there ain't any solid evidence for feathered dinosaurs at all! Anyway, back to Lego JW.

    Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I know this isn't really relative to this year's Lego JW wave, but you know what we need? A novel that follows the events of re-establishing Isla Nublar after the 1993 incident. The storyline could follow the viewpoints of the hunters who capture the dinosaurs, or the builders braving the perils of the jungle, etc. Just a cool thought; I may write a fan-fic version of that myself!

And if Dominion hadn't been delayed, we would've gotten both waves together in the same year. So it would make sense that just one theme would have a consistent page with different discussions of multiple waves. Some themes don't even really have subthemes either; Monkie Kid, Mario, or just straight up movie-based sets, so it would make sense with certain discoordinations and ambiguity between sets of no determinable definitive boundaries. BTW, does anyone think that 75944 could be a 4+ set? I was looking at the price coordination for the Dominion sets, and I noticed it followed the same pattern as this year's wave: a higher priced 4+ set, followed by ever-increasing prices. Could the first $50 set be a 4+ one, and follow the consistent pattern of this year?

    Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I think Lego made the new hands just to save money, because the old ones were composed of two pieces and the fists were made of that rubbery component. So I could see Giga having Indominus hands like the new Indominus and Baryonyx. I do agree, those swivel-wrists were awesome IMO. I loved how they could hold figs very easily, and reach all the way up to the head. I have the 2018 Indoraptor and 2019 Baryonyx, so I guess the only one left is the 2015 Indominus. I really wish Lego had kept the wrists the same, but if it saves money for them, they'll do it.

Here would be a cool scenario: The six kids have to fend off whatever is on board the boat for the first few episodes, only to get blown of course in a storm... and arrive at Isla Sorna, where they are wrecked on the rocks. They must fight their way through the terrifying dangers of the jungle to reach the base on the other side of the island. That way, we may see good old Spino again! Maybe Corythosaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Troodon, etc.

I've seen the toy leaks, but they aren't on the list of new dinosaurs that Steven Weintraub confirmed, so...

My prediction if Mosasaurus were in a set (finally) for next year, based on your idea: 76944 - Mosasaurus Pursuit - $49.99 - Around 200 to 250 pieces - 3 minifigs, 1 Mosasaurus, 1 Small Helicopter, 1 Small Boat, 2 Buoys When could we expect the soonest leak for next year?

That makes sense, seeing as the heads look different in many regards. Those are good predictions. I really hope you're right about 76944! Would an Allosaurus or Stegosaurus be likely at all?
