  1. Shameless plug šŸ˜ if you want to be something complexā€¦

This MOC is a bit old now but still interestingly relevant. Ā Iā€™ll be revisiting the design and programming soon to make improvements.

    Ā

Other recommendation I have for you are the EV3 mocs of Antons MindstormsĀ https://www.antonsmindstorms.com/product-category/digital-downloads2/.Ā

Another recommendation is Dimiā€™s EV3 creations, you can check it out here -Ā https://youtube.com/@DimitriDekyvere?feature=shared

Okay, so I guess the challenge was build something on top of it and then race it? I only found a review of the episode in which they just talk a lot but not show anything.. So it's about whose bodywork looks cooler and who can drive better (the exact same chassis)?

The challenge was to build an alt build from two mashed up vehicles. Ā Whoever wins aesthetics win pole position. Then they race their builds on a mixed terrain track for 6 laps and whoever wins that gets their build immortalized digitally in Lego 2K Drive. Ā Iā€™m not sure where you can watch it but maybe soon a snippet or clip will be available on YouTube.

    Ā

It was a very fun episode and I always liked these kind of challenges. Ā This is like the destruction derby episode of a previous season of LM US.

Great find, this article is! Ā Nice insight on the production behind the scenes.

What are they using this for? What's this Lego 2K drive? I only found some video game..

This was used for US Lego Masters Season 4 Episode 8ā€™sĀ build and race challenge in partnership with 2K Drive.

I think they use 3rd party stuff coz Lego doesnt have fast and strong motors for this type of challenges, and the lack of physicalĀ remote controllers

  4. The Technic AR app may really only be playable with a few specific sets,Ā  but you can still use to to bring your creations to life with the augmented reality environment.

    Ain't that cool?

    Ā

    Ā

My second one is integrating the pullback motor to a sidecar that can be attached to Motorcycle 42132.Ā  Ā Either side works depending on where you are in the world.Ā  =)

    Ā

    Ā

Looking forward to everyone else's pullback hacks.

    Ā

  5. Letā€™s see some hacks šŸ˜‰

Iā€™ll start with my mod to the Speed Champions Mopar Dodge Dragster (76904).

Iā€™m looking to add the pull-back motor to moreĀ Speed Champion sets so I can have a drag race with same scale cars. Ā The challenge is definitely the size of the cars so maybe Iā€™ll start with the SUVs.

    Ā

Also tried the Technic AR app and sadly it does image recognition and only works with either the Mustang or the Porsche Formula E. šŸ¤Ø Wish it would work with anyĀ carĀ too.

Any thoughts on the feasibility of this solution (without the large outer rim turntable, or possibly with the outer turntable).

I have used this similar simple solution with my 6DoF Arm and itĀ held up pretty fine.Ā  Ā I didn't use any "bearings" for the banana gears like it was done with the Big Red/Liebherr or others' robotic arms.Ā  Ā The banana racks in my MOC areĀ primarily just where the arm glides over.Ā  Ā
    Ā

I think if the weight is evenly distributed between yourĀ wheels, the simpler designĀ should not be an issue.Ā  Testing this with real physical model will give you the confirmation.

Ifļ»æļ»æ yoļ»æu ļ»ænotice the blue pins is both pictures, when the two piļ»æecļ»æļ»æļ»æļ»æes are attached together, 2L beamļ»æsļ»æ are put oļ»æn thosļ»æeļ»æ pins to lock the 2 pieces together.ļ»æļ»æļ»æļ»æļ»æ

How do you attach the 2L beams? From the pictures, it seems impossible to do as I donā€™t see a way a finger could push those beams to the pins once the upper part is in place.

    Ā

It is a very clever way nonetheless! Ā I may borrow this one someday šŸ˜‰

  8. Based on your initial design, I imagine this will really be huge. I sure hope it will be stable enough toĀ stand and ā€œwalkā€.

I too have a big robot moc in mind that Iā€™ll be working on once I get more free time. I think I now have enough parts and electronics to make it work. And now having hub-to-hub officially supported is great!

I will take what I learned from upgrading Blast toĀ a biped and see how it works with a bigger version.

Will watch out for your updates and maybe can learn from each other. šŸ˜‰

I am still planning on making a big robot (yes, I do, really) and I have been looking into big turntable designs.

Curious what big robot you have in mind that will need big turntables. Looking forward to see and read about it here. šŸ‘Œ

Hoping to see from both of you some content soon, as it's prettyļ»æ dead here in the Mindstorms forum (I actually sometimes think to just post my builds in Technic subforum to get more views/reactions).

I agree ā˜ļø Wish the Mindstorms forum is as active as the Technic forum. Not much feedback happening on the topics here.
