If you were going to produce custom items for sale.....
andhe replied to Jargo's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
The way I would go would be: 1. ripping of computer game character accessories (like mentioned above), swords, guns etc (maybe not that original, but would bring the money in). 2. Historical weapons (roman, greek etc)(also profitable) 3. Sports/musical equipment. The market is saturated with military weapons/vests etc and anything towards stars wars or existing lego lines would risk lawsuits :P What would I LIKE to see? Probably more animals (rabbits, ducks and other small animals as the brick built versions are way off scale), but as soon as lego brings out their own version, these become obsolete (eg brickforge cow/pig) Or maybe bikes/scooters/wheelchairs (sorry that was just an after thought). -
Haha, pretty much bang on! Though no-where does it say 'The Beatles', presumably because that would require a massive amount of royalties. Maybe its The Rutles? :P Is this suit just this http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=973pb322c01&in=M ??

Whilst I don't know how well a middle-eastern theme would 'fit' with the current Kingdoms line (in a word, it wouldn't) I would like to see TLG bring out something along these lines (either in a PQ/Adventurers style) as it would be a shame to see the new camel and ostrich moulds go to waste. A barbarian/bandit sub-theme could fit nicely into the Kingdoms theme. As perhaps a third wave of sets where the Dragon and Lion knights now have another threat to deal with. Think snarly minifigs with big hair and big weapons (like the germanic ones at the start of Gladiator :P).

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

So it's great to finally see all the figures, but is it just me or are the ideas becoming a bit ... tired? Undoubtably I'll collect them all (as I have done for 1-5, despite the hideous snowboarders/skateboarders) but some of these just strike me as a bit freaky eg the sleepy man with the teddy. I hope the highlander has different hair and a better sword (being prelim) and the bandit and fan lady are just rehashs of previous figures. I think TLG need to slow down rather than trying to churn these out and cash in. Needless to say tho, the minotaur, leprechaun, genie and roman soldier are pure win (and the soldiers undoubtably be collected in their hundreds). But as always the ones I hate others will love and vice versa. So it's all good! -
Least Successful Collectable Minifig
andhe replied to Mr. Elijah Timms's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Interesting to see peoples VERY different opinions. My least favourite would have to be S1 - Clown (what is up with his face?) S2 - Circus Master (what is up with his face?? and his white pants??) S3 - Race car driver (no new moulds), the mummy was also and odd choice following the much better PQ ones. S4 - Skater (snooze). S5 - SNOWBOARDER! BORING! Saying that, I have grudgingly collected them all, just to be complete! All time worst must be, due to lack of originality... race car driver. IMHO the best figs come with new moulds/parts or are from a yet unexplored theme (eg spartan). -
Your stuff is so inspiring! I love the way you don't just stick within a theme but use bits and pieces from all over to create your own world. How do you find the time to build all this stuff!?

Is the Lord of the Rings a hope or rumour? I hadn't read anything of a definate license other than people hoping there was something with the hobbit film coming out. I'd love a joust set something along the lines of the MMV. Is a christmas release too much to hope for?...

There was a bit of discussion about it here when it had first opened My link I'd be in agreement that the standard lego store opening figures seem to be a 3 pack (like the B-A-M)with printed Liverpool 2012 torsos and some liverpool related picture in the pack. Nice to get if you can. The PAB is exactly as described above, standard pieces in a range of colours (including the newer lime and tan) and didn't seem to generate much interest. The B-A-M was populat and far too small! Didn't see any of the chrome swords or skirts that were mentioned above but I was there in the afternoon. Lots of series1 ninja/caveman/cheerleader/indian/wrestler heads, torsos, legs and headpieces. And £3.50 for 3 figures I thought was pretty good.

I heard about this yesterday but didn't realise the set number indicated it would anything bigger than the fantasy era joust set we've had before (basically 2 mounted knights and a barrier). If I was excited then (at the prospect of being able to pick up a couple of knights without buying the 2 dragon prison escape/rescue sets) then the idea of a MMV style jousting scene sounds A-MAZ-ING. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Do we reckon it will be Lions vs Dragons? or something a bit more generic (seeing as the two factions don't really seem to get on, let alone have time for a friendly jousting tournament...).

Does Kingdoms live up to Castle expectations?
andhe replied to K-Nut's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I would have to agree with a number of the previous posters, that though I don't think the individual sets are great, the figures and new moulds/pieces are what have made this theme stand out to me. I felt the Fantasy era was a return to form for castle, and probably paved the way for a new large kingdoms line, but I do miss the fantasy element, dwarves etc. While I'm in agreement that the forestmen should be left as classic, there may be room to introduce a small range of 'robber type' sets to fill the wolfpack/forestmen renegade void. Though the dragon knights seem to be doing plenty of raiding of their own! -
I went today and was quite impressed having only been to the Manchester LDC before... :P The PAB wall is only basic bricks but a wide range of colours. They had build 3 figs for £3.50 including pieces from series 1 figures. The staff were all very friendly and there was quite a buzz about the place. The build a fig seemed most popular so hopefully they will expand on that, as the area was quite cramped and made it difficult to sift through for unique pieces! Good fun though. Spent about an hour just looking round!

That would be cool, but more likely to be a standard figure with 'liverpool lego store' printed on the torso... :P Is it operating under normal opening hours despite being not 'officially opened' do we know? May pay a visit and see what it's like.

Is that the total size of the shop unit? Or does it widen out? Just trying to get a feel for the size of the shop, and whether it will be worth a visit! (the manchester LDC is always a crushing disappointment...)

Ah clever thinking! Yeah it does seem that that might work, and would be a clever solution. Guess the photographer didn't realise this either. -

Unless Aladdin had some serious arm strength, I'm guessing it might topple. Cool that it fits though. The meat and the lamp have to be some of my favourite accesories so far, and I'm sure people will go crazy for a new sword, though it would have been nice if the highlander had a proper kilt/skirt piece (and wilder hair or painted face, don't shoot me for historical inaccuracy :P) Look forward to seeing some Minotaur armies, and a 'Grease Lightning' MOC. ANOTHER skater... seriously TLG? Ever heard of rollerskates? Roller blades? Scooter? BMX?... :D -
I actually quite like the red chimney... it reminds me of the classic castle blacksmith shop and other older elements, so not out of keeping with a traditional lego building style. I know these are quite old MOCs of your but I love the attention to detail and the mocked-up boxes I saw in the other thread. Is the lady's torso a sticker? Great work. Good fun builds.
