I stood for moment, pinching my upper lip while in thought. (If you are right, then the '90% block' of Paul night 1 becomes plausible and I'm inclined to believe since it was spread so widely. The governor claim is worrying me atm as it can't be tested easily. Frankly I always assume someone(s) is playing me in private PMs. Until Louis Townsend flips scum tomorrow I don't trust the lot of you. I am just willing to gamble on Elijah Hendry being in touch with the investigator in this case, because as a Day 3 scum bluff/busing his partner this would be a suicidal whopper... or the greatest Godfather ploy ever. (Back and on my phone. Interesting 24 hours I just caught up on.) While standing at attention, I nodded a negative to Elijah’s question. I had been informed of the action (block) and a target (Paul) that occurred the first night - no name was attached to it but a 90% certainty was. That last bit had made me pause as it seemed an odd qualification. Benjamin has also not been in contact with me at all - someone else had informed me. I was pleased to hear that an investigation had uncovered another scummy pirate. I looked forward to executing him this evening. My esteem for Elijah Hendry also rose and I felt guilty of suspecting him earlier. **** Vote: Louis Townsend ***** (Sorry can’t bold on my phone.) (I’ve had someone ask privately if I block as part of my bodyguard role. I don’t believe I do - I just die, most heroically I’d hope, in place of another if they are night attacked. Honestly I have gotten a lot wrong so far, so I don't blame you. I was wrong on Robert, and had no read on Paul. Honestly feels like I am doing more damage than good. (I was right not to jump on Reginald mind you... broken clock and all that) You don't know the half of it. I was told I successfully guarded a person last night. I am however not dead (obviously) so putting down my confusion to semantics. For the record I did NOT guard Robert (cuz I thought him scummy), but I will let the guarded person know privately now; not telling the other persons who are poking me privately so don't bother. Add-on: I have also now received private unsubstantiated claims of blocker and governor. Fit those into your calculations. Add-on 2: I completely forgot to stay in character. Gawddamn it!

I stumble into the room, more than slightly inebriated if I am honest with myself, I see Paul about to be marched off to the firing squad. I didn't really know Paul, so I was indifferent to this (even though not joing the group effort would likely look suspicious tomorrow). I did not trust either Ethan or Robert though, so there was no way I was participating in this.

I shake my head in shock. I had no read on Paul either way and how the eff did we get to this point within 3 hours? I went to find a stiff drink before bed. Maybe tomorrow would make more sense.

I have decide to break character here, (though I have REALLY been enjoying it), for the sake of clarity. Too important a moment. The highest of my list of suspects are Robert Walsh and Elijah Hendry. Robert for behaviour yesterday and and fishing earlier in day 2; Elijah for behaviour patterns in both days. But as I have stated a few times, we have the opportunity to narrow our focus on the persons who did not vote for a lynch yesterday. Past experience is that scum split their votes for protection so this is a golden chance to take. So I proposed that we lynch one of Elijah, Zacchary, or myself (Warren) If the first proves wrong, we move on the next on the list until we get the scum. It also doesn't mean I have exonerated Robert in my eyes btw. I just am going with the better percentages. Now since I have placed my head on the block (Mitchell's vote came out while I was typing and I'm fine with it. My being lynched still helps with the day 1 non-lynchers group approach I want us to adopt), I'd best start sharing information before I am removed. I have been in contact privately with two players and both reached out to me. More importantly however, I asked for two rules clarifications from Bob which have now come back. I obviously can't quote what was said, but I can state the following in my words: 1. Players would NOT be informed why a redirect occurred, nor who had done so. They would only see the night action result. 2. I truly did not want to make a role claim this early, but it is the only way to truly explain our situation. My role is BODYGUARD, with a twist - on a successful block I die in the target's place. I asked for a clarification on this as well; neither the initial target nor killer would be given any indication on what had occurred. 3. What I theorize happened is that Ansel acted night 1 with his role. Scum were confused as to what occurred when their initial target survived and have spent today trying to uncover what thwarted them. 4. I am pretty sure Bob has created a merry bit on mayhem for us with a number of roles tied into redirection. You tricky boy! 5. Lastly, Ethan is one of the two who contacted me privately. He didn't provide me any information at all, but just asked nonchalantly about my role-playing and stringing out the conversation to see if I told him something. Its a good tactic and one an aggressive scum would use imho. So let's circle back and look at this: Ethan could NOT have known a redirect had occurred specifically from him to Ansel. In fact he could NOT know one had happened unless he was the scum/killer or the alleged bus driver himself, and if he was the bus driver, 1) why is he bringing it up in public because he knew what happened 2) why did he do it in the first place? I did not use my role yesterday because I quickly realized the confusion it would cause when analyzing voting trends - it was to be a last resort for me. So I now admit I lied in my first sentence. Robert Walsh and Elijah Hendry are actually secondary on my list of suspects at present because I accuse Ethan Dunn of being scum straight out. Unvote: Elijah Hendry Vote: Ethan Dunn And since I am now sticking my neck out, my other message was a claim that a block had occurred last night. They said they had only 90% certainty though, so I am not certain what weight I am putting to it yet. However it did not involve either Ethan or Ansel.

I paused walking the battlements for a moment and peered up at the sun. "I wonder what time it is?" I murmured to no one in particular. @Bob

Zachary's demeanor certainly did not strike me as icy calm. That was not unexpected either mind you. Even though our barracks was made up of some of the most veteran soldiers of the realm, winners of numerous campaigns in the past, nervousness when placed under pressure was expected. If you took three men charged with a crime, one guilty and two innocent, and threw them into the cells overnight, the innocent men would sleep listlessly as their thoughts turned around them all night - they would worry endlessly about why they had been found suspicious. The guilty man would sleep soundly as they already knew why they are suspicious, and they needed to conserve their energy for the battle of wits to follow. To me, Elijah Hendry's behaviour was striking me as one calmly going about a defense. Which was strange as he had not truly been pressured yet. His voting for Paul certainly seemed without much basis at all. While it was early yet, I decided to shine the spotlight on him: VOTE: Elijah Hendry

I could just make out Ethan Dunn's announcement from the sentry box where I was standing at attention. It worried me a bit, especially as Robert Walsh had been cited by myself for fishing hours earlier and had now successfully caught something - I was not ready to accuse Robert yet though evidence was piling up. I was paddling up another river at present. Now thanks to Ethan, the death of Ansel Michel slotted into a pattern I felt made more sense. I had reviewed the diaries of my past family members who were of a... nefarious nature (all successful in evil I might add), and Ansel had not made for a very good target. It had shrunk the smaller half of the voting field and achieved little to quiet open discussion; it made more sense for infiltrators to do this inadvertently. Ethan on the other hand had drawn a lot of comment the day before; perfect for redirecting blame on to others if he was disposed of. If the redirect had occurred it was a set back for them, and that heartened me a little. The fly in the ointment was the claimed redirection itself. How had this happened? I had a hunch ((regarding a mafia role)) I would explore when I had more time. For now I went over Mitchell LaHore's open thoughts and compared them to my own. His assessment of me was fair. I was either very open or very cunning. It would be hard for me to prove either way unless I passed from this mortal coil - I was hoping it wouldn't come to that just yet but I was prepared to do my duty if needed. For my own sanity, I precluded myself from my own investigation. I agreed with his assessment of Liam's behaviour - far too open and attention drawing, though an aggressive infiltrator might try it. I put it down to the nerves of a recent recruit and put him down as the least likely to be a pirate. Elijah Hendry had been quiet and unassuming so far. Perhaps he originated from a very far away place with different sleeping patterns. His stating that Liam had soft-claimed I did find confusing, as I saw no evidence of this occurring previously. I admit I have missed things on occasion mind you. Still, he was worth studying further. The majority of my thinking presently was on Zachary Mercier. I could not get a good handle on what he was trying to achieve with his earlier statement. It was by no means suspicious at face value, but it was scattershot and casually mentioned far too many people for my liking. The lack of focus almost seemed as if it was dropping a number of names in order to see if one would create a furor. But it could be nothing as well. It was all a bit maddening and mostly conjecture of course, but I was sure there was nugget of truth I could dig from this pile in order to help the fort. I was strongly convinced one of these three would be proven to be false.

((Sigh, I hate writing these posts on my cell phone. Sorry for the grammar mistakes)) I found myself newly aware of the fact Robert Walsh had a hobby during the off hours - fly fishing. I would hope he would refrain from doing so again during his duty hours.

Still standing at my post, I could not help but notice that both Zachary and Elijah has been silent all day, even after my public declaration of suspicion. It also dawned on me during my lack of activity that rather than follow my thinking narrowing our gaze, the direction of thinking was quickly directed to the larger group who had lynched. Unperturbed, I decided to press forward in my own way.

Sitting in the mess hall, I overheard Liam’s argument. I felt it was false - regardless of the unfortunate loss we now had material to sift through in order to find the truth. Reginald had played an important role as a martyr. Sipping my tea, I tried to put a theory together. I’d guessed one infiltrator would have voted for Reginald and one would have not. With 9 required, if more than two pirates existed I’d err on the extra voting with the lynch mob but the cautious adage of ‘...all eggs in one basket’ usually holds true in persons’ thinking. So that limited my field of survey to: -Ansel (deceased) -Warren (myself) -Zachary -Elijah -Liam The murder of Ansel was actually a boon of sorts for my theory as it reduced the field of suspects. Then and there I resolved I’d be concentrating my observations on these latter three today (and would understand further scrutiny of my person as well).

When not on night sentry duty, the evenings were some of the few times I could sit back and relax. As these were my off hours, I decided to head down to the kitchens and see if could rustle up some salt beef and a cup of tea.

A new day had dawned and my new shift at sentry had started. The sun had finally come out from behind the clouds heartening me slightly, though the raucous din coming from the drill square was enough to wake the dead themselves. Having watched this go on for hours (felt like days even) I could certainly conclude that some men (and women) suffered the curse of Babylon. While just a wee nipper, my grandpa had warned me about those who talked overly much. Normally they tried to blanket the truth is layers of nonsense he explained. A true person doesn't do such things and with the dignity only the weight of years can give, who pronounced to me: "Never say ten words when one will do!" I've always lived by that adage. So after sifting through buckets of verbal nonsense, something struck me about what Private Marchand has said. An interesting thought, since the exact thing occurred not a moment later. I certainly found this a curious turn of events. What I'd normally just put down as a polite acknowledgment that I exist, I now examined with different eyes. Was this a backhanded way to throw my name out as a fish hook of sorts to see what he could drag up as a defense, or perhaps a warning not to comment lest I be found to be a "nit-picking scummy"? Hard to say for certain, but it did not allay me fears about him. ((My vote on him stands))

As I stood watch on the wall, I took the opportunity to observe my fellows. Some were acting decidedly odd, but after having been cooped up together for years some 'quirkiness' of the mind was expected. Thanks to my parents wanting a better life for me, I had learned my letters and numbers at an early age. This had given me the opportunity to read a great number of books, including some treatise on similar situations such as the one the fort's occupants presently found itself in. One common theme was that infiltrators tended to act helpful, almost to the extreme, as they attempted to generate empathy between themselves and their victims. This could tend to over-correction and an argument to save everyone. One person had acted in that manner this fine morning. Trumpeter Walsh's jovial "I'll go along with the majority" statement rang false to me. His deliberate pointing out how a scummy pirate would behave, ahead any true accusation against him, also appeared to be a hasty and nervous defense. Such as one might do after a miss-step. Taking a deep breath of the early morning air, I realized I was very suspicious of Robert Walsh and would be unless some other information came to light. Vote: ROBERT WALSH

I, Warren Pratt, soldier of the Imperial Army, stand at attention at my appointed sentry point, musket at my shoulder just as I had learned in drill over two years of exemplary service. “Pirates, in the Fort?! By gawd’s good graces, we’ll run those no-goodnicks off in no time, I’m sure” I pronounce silently to myself; because as a rank and file private I am not allowed to speak on duty. I do a lot of inner monologuing instead to help pass the time. All the same I’m pleased with the notion of executing (by firing squad no less) some pirates in the coming days, as the world could do with a few less men of ill repute. And yes, monologuing is my most certainly a word, though I am not sure I spelt it properly. Unfortunately I do not have an inner dictionary to refer to.

A-ten-HUT! Hmm. A lot soldiers in uniform around here. This may get a little confusing. A solution might be to identify us using the little differences. For example, please remember I'm the one wearing the hat.
