Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Love the clear posing bars, who seem to have made their way into Star Wars now. Great way to turn a playset into a display item. Though personally I've been on this "they're coming for the cloth" theory for awhile now, and the fact that Thor and Loki both have them cements it for me that they're in the process of phasing out cloth minifigure elements. Beforehand there were other excuses- Keaton batman's iconic look lending itself well to a large single rubber part for the cowl and cape, the kamas being printed for either cost reasons or so the figs could sit, etc. Thor and Loki are generic capes. -

I dunno. On the one hand, even with a bigfig, 613 pieces for $100 is pretty bad. But I dunno, it LOOKS like a $100 set to me. It feels like the value is there- I'd say it's more value of stuff than the NWH set, which they apparently charge $110 for now? Surtur looks like a demon (in a good way), Groot looks like an abomination, Abomination.... isn't a figure. More thought-out thoughts on the sets: Iron Legion battle pack: Peak Marvel battle pack with a build that puts Star Wars to shame. Only gripe is Iron man instead of a second Hydra soldier, but since I'm not personally going to army build this, I'm fine with it. This is also the first battle pack where I've really felt that the $20 value is there- that's a chonky build. Surtur: The value is there, for $30, I guess. It LOOKS excellent, and if I was a kid, I'd be eating it up. As-is, since I've not got the largest marvel collection, it's an easy pass- but still an excellent toy. Leviathan: When I was 8, I went and saw The Avengers in theatres. It was the first marvel movie I'd seen on the big screen, and it's what got me into the wider marvel universe instead of just captain america. I was extremely bummed the leviathan wasn't a set. This is exactly what I would have wanted back then, and for $50, an excellent price. Another that I won't personally pick up for space reasons, but another that's still an excellent set. Avengers Assemble: First day 1 buy from this theme since Endgame. What a beautiful set. It also feels more full than something like the NWH set, despite having a number less parts. 613 pieces for $100 is a horrible PPP ratio, but personally I really see the value- it looks big, it's bursting at the seams with figures, etc. UCS Milano: because that's what it is. Not a guardians megafan, but this was a perfect choice for a UCS marvel set, and looks incredible. Another one where I won't pick it up but think it's a really incredible set. All in all I think this is the best lego marvel wave... maybe ever, to be honest. It'll be the first time since Endgame I've bought multiple full sets from a single wave (I'm not counting the mechs that I've impulse bought for the parts months after their release), and the first time since Endgame I'll have made a day 1 purchase. -

The avengers diorama has 8 figs and a Hulk. It's kind of hard to tell how big the build is, but it seems to be pretty sizable too going off the footprint of that main area having around as much depth as the jeep. Agreed, looks excellent. It's also by far the most "modern military" lego's gotten between the sandbags on that sentry tower and the tank traps. Not saying that's good or bad, just an interesting observation. -

Invincible? The Energon Universe? Valiant? Milestone? With how little we get, same. Seems like a bad choice to waste the few slots we have on a part of the franchise that's not exactly a fan-favorite. -

These all look SPECTACULAR. Easily the best wave in quite awhile. Even sets I wasn't expecting to have good builds, like the Surter set or battle pack. Only one I'm not a fan of is potted groot. -

Aw man I didn't realize these got delayed. Sad I have to wait an additional few months for Rex. Though ironically, that will make the august wave include clones in North America, so maybe people over here will stop complaining on instagram and the like. Same here- I'm kind of hoping all the sets with anniversary figs get revealed. I actually don't think this is true- this forum is a lot less of an echo chamber than some of the other areas I see, like the segments of instagram and youtube. Partially because there's no algorithm making people see more content based on the exact opinions clicked on, but also just empirically. We have a lot of older fans who were kids during the OT. We have fans who grew up with the prequels, and love the Clone Wars cartoon. We have people like me, who are younger adults but generally fans of the original trilogy (Though I also love the clone wars cartoon). We even have people who... well maybe aren't the biggest sequel fans, want some of the unique designs from the era. All those opinions CAN be found on other platforms, but they tend to bunch up, whereas here it's all one thread. (Plus, this thread has a wider age and no subscription/popularity aspect, which kind of removes the ability for a small number of people to dominate the broadcast opinions) MandR is a youtuber. He's made himself a public figure and has a large following. It's generally accepted that it opens you up to criticism. I wish. -

I clicked on ONE House Md video. One. Now whenever I finish a video- bam- House. I'm studying while listening to music, and all of the sudden there's no song, just House. It's not even a bad show, I just can't take this level of saturation. But anyway, yeah, I agree with the wider sentiment if you mean in terms of people with more than a couple hundred subscribers. But there are TONS of teenagers and pre-teens who have little 20-sub youtube channels up trying to emulate MandR. This is a guess, isn't it? They haven't actually told us which sets, or did they announce it? Not that the June sets aren't more or less a certainty, just checking to confirm they haven't said anything about which ones. -

I mean, assumably the batmobile is blue in both because the designers saw it as blue. I don't think the art set is a riddler clue that we're going to suddenly get Gotham modulars. That's the episode with that Man who transforms himself into a Bat, right? What would you call that? some sort of bat.... man.... or something? -

While they have definitely been repeatedly character assassinating Mary Jane since Peter's deal with the devil, I think it's probably a more blanket "we want our thing to be the one getting merchandise". Same reason X-men and fantastic four stuff was heavily discouraged after the MCU picked up. -

And funnily enough, Hasbro's May 4th livestreams are May 3rd and an as-of-yet unknown later date, assumably because they don't want their employees to work weekends. First of all, holy cow, are there actual people complaining that we get one (1) singular wave without clones? But second, I kind of feel like if there were other figs in the Young Leia set, we'd know. My money's on Wicket, I think. -
LEGO Ninjago 2024 Rumours and Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to THELEGOBATMAN's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The dragon mech may be the first ninjago set over $20 I'll have gotten in almost a decade, since I was a kid. I think it's the most "UCS" a ninjago set's ever been (aside from the gardens but those are more like modulars). I'm still not entirely sold- Cole is my least favorite of the original four and this is already shaping up to be an expensive year between some of the larger SW sets and trying to grab Rivendell at some point, but that thing looks incredible. The Dune sword is an excellent touch too- it was one of the first things I thought when I held the part for the first time. If it has knees, I'm not sure I'll be able to resist getting it. Unless we get rumors of a Jay one next year, that is :). -

You've seen that video too? "The record will be straight... heh heh heh heh heh... stay tuned" I wonder what 2025 holds for this theme. It assumably won't be mainly superman based- even with the movie, I can't see them doing more than 2-3 sets. The Batman 2 will likely also get a few sets, but that's an october film. I think we still may see a couple June sets, here are my guesses) A second wave of BTAS sets: Jonkler mech ($14.99, BTAS Jonkler), Buildable BTASman ($32.99), The Batwing ($64.99, BTAS Batman, BTAS Poison Ivy, BTAS Catwoman), UCS BTASmobile ($299.99, BTAS Batman, BTAS Robin) A wave of TDK sets (Jonkler Mech ($14.99, generic comic Jonkler), Buildable TDK Joker ($32.99), another Tumbler ($64.99 TDK Batman, TDK Bane, TDK Joker), UCS The Bat ($199.99, TDK Batman, TDK Catwoman) -

We hadn't had super battle droids in 9 years with no prior indication of them returning, due to the molds being too brittle. It's been about as long since Tarkin, but Tarkin in a Death Star is a lot more obvious than super battle droids returning out of nowhere, and of course they just hadn't made tarkin- it wasn't like his hairpiece had a structural issue or something. If we get the ship, it'll be the former. Everyone seems to forget that the main audience of standard system sets is kids. Kids who, in the vast majority, would rather have starfighters or gunships or capital ships than a queen's cruiser, especially one that would inevitably be primarily LGB for budget (if they weren't going to make the Crest or the N1 primarily silver, there's no chance they do it for the queen's ship.) The audience with TPM nostalgia is old enough to be interested in 18+ sets now- hence the stuff we're getting this year- so a midi-scale cruiser is possible, especially since it'd probably be more likely to get more drumlaquered elements. But I don't think we get a playset of it anytime soon. -

Those were extremely limited runs- it's likely those prints weren't as expensive to produce as wide-release figs. Bro is the chef at Luigi's pizzaria Jangbricks and Duckbricks? -

100% agree. Luigi straight up outed the identity of the Batman. This Man is simply too powerful. Something needs to be done. -

This is really interesting. We've seen the figure before in previous books, but I always assumed it was just a fun prototype never meant for official release. -

Even putting that aside, eurobrick's whole "only adult users" thing is like the age range on lego boxes- a suggestion they can't and don't really try to enforce. I may or may not have been like 14 when I joined, and I remember people literally talking about how they were 13 or 15 in their posts (I vividly remember some 13 year old heavily arguing that the platform they time travel from in Endgame should be a set). When I set in the Mobius Chair, this is the question I'm asking it. -

Not as the build, as an accessory for the figure, seeing as otherwise she seems to only have one new print when most of the other revealed figures have at least one of a new mold, cloth elements, arm printing, etc. -

I don't remember this. Are you doing the "death star is a big lightsaber" bit? I think Lola's possible, otherwise the decision to include her just becomes more baffling. Maybe the fact that the creature sets tend not to have many new prints/molds has something to do with it? -

Jeez. There's a difference between "tamp it down a bit" and "you shouldn't be allowed to post on this forum" Same. It's not like there's much else to talk about, anyway. I think my biggest gripe with the figure selection right now is as simple as the lack of Robin. Even if the theme is no longer DC in general and only batman, Robin needs to be included. -

Ironically, you've more or less answered your own question. Mega Bloks picked up the license. I don't know if we know the reason Lego lost it- I assume the sets for the first two films did well- but your general guess is correct. -
Dune is finally receiving a set with 10327 Ornithopter! 10327 is $150 with 1369 pieces, 4-5 minifigures, and an early November release. If I had to guess, we'll get Paul Atrides, Duke Leto Atrides, Gurney Hallack, and Doctor Kynes to represent the main characters of that Ornithopter flight. The set is selling as part of the Icons theme, meaning it's unlikely to be meant for multiple sets, but if it sells well, maybe we will get more. Which is good, because even if we get a fifth figure, we'll still be missing all but one of Duncan Idaho, Stilgar, Chani, Lady Jessica, any villain, and any generic soldier.
