MLCAD "encrypts" LDR-files - massive problem
Mr Muscle replied to Mr Muscle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yep, Windows seems to be problem definetly... Find it! Here is the answer: http://channel9.msdn.com/forums/TechOff/468186-Windows-7-strange-locked-files-hidden-to-explorer/ (moving MLCAD to other drive to prevent this happen anymore) -
MLCAD "encrypts" LDR-files - massive problem
Mr Muscle posted a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
What in earth could this be. I just found out while starting to backup my LDR-files, that they actually do not exist. Yes, I can open these files in MLCAD, I can save them, and I can create new files. But they are missing. I can't locate them from my project folder, not even from whole computer. Windows 7 (64bit) just can't find them. But they are there because I can open them, modify and save! This is driving me nuts. Seems like MLCAD some how encrypts these files or something, because they have small lock-icon. I tried to seek for an explanation for this but nothing. I have removed every possible file and folder administration restrictions from Windows, but no help. I tried also to save to DAT-format, but same problem. From MLCAD's open-window I can't copy a file and paste it elsewhere (File is missing). I have MLCAD 3.30, older version did not have this problem. Please somebody help me out with this... *SOLVED*, here is the answer: http://channel9.msdn.com/forums/TechOff/468186-Windows-7-strange-locked-files-hidden-to-explorer/ -
Mercury Cougar 1973
Mr Muscle replied to Mr Muscle's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Heh heh, yes actually Ford big blocks are pretty much all the same, except for valve cover and manifold differencies :) Well I will probably continue with stud-building because I really cant afford to hide eveything with tiles, and building SNOT seems to be so unpractical.. -
Mercury Cougar 1973
Mr Muscle posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
After some dozens of cars, I wanted to move on from medium (10-wide) scale to a bigger league. Thats because I began to feel restricted in means of details and maybe some functions. So this Cougar was my first (finished) car in this bigger scale. There is two other cars waiting to be finished. I think I fared pretty well and I was true to my personal goal to add more details and functions. While 10-wide scale allows quick builds which tend to look okay, this bigger scale allows almost every possible details that are important in cars. For example I was able to concentrate building interiors like they really are, and also add more details to drivetrain department. Of course parts count and building time will increase drastically, seeing finished product is very rewarding. Together with details there is possibility to add some more functions, like this car has steerable wheels although not connected to steering wheel. It would have been possible in smaller scale too, but then I would had to make compromises with looks and design of engine bay. And engine is something I don't want to compromise at all, I see that as its own special art piece like bodywork of a car. Now with this scale I was able to do them both. And the engine is designed to be easily changeable without needing to break anything except little bit steering arms in this case... Maybe I will release a tutorial of building these engines :) But one thing that bothers me is that I feel that I am totally dropped out from the community, because I don't try to hide my studs. Seems like modern trends in Lego building really are about hiding studs. While it is more common to see cars with studs in smaller scales, usually bigger cars tend to be studless. Well I like my cars but maybe they could be better in this area... Some of my thoughts of a triumph into new scale :) Brickshelf gallery here! -
This is just awesome! Reminds me of 1949 Mercury which is far most popular "lead sled" car in the world. The flame job is top notch cool, I hope you guys don't mind if I enter with car that has same colors with flames :'-) Well the similarities ends there... :) You said this is Plymouth, which model is this? I cant figure it out.. Or is this very tough custom that doesn't go with any specific model anymore? :)

V-LP-6F, V-LV-38D to V-LV-38F Ralph's cars are great, I am always very anxious of seeing his new works since I am sharing the same interest. I also build similar type of cars in scale 1:22-24, usually little bit smaller than Ralph's cars. I wanted to ask how you calculate the scale and are the cars in same scale together? I personally don't follow any scale, I have basic platform and guidelines in which I build almost every car. Although it might come from the fact that I build almost only american cars from 60-70s. Here is some pictures of my models: Dodge Monaco 1977 Police car Twin turbo V8 engine of 1973 AMC Hornet Oldsmobile "Hairy Hurst" 1966 Show car Flame painted 1967 Chevrolet Camaro More pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/legomuscle

My vote went for Landlubbers pickup-style police vehicle. I really liked the details and proportions of the car, very nice job in that scale. Many of the small cars were good, but I think this was most realistic :) That always appeals me.

Yes I have: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=jouhi2

Finally, here is my contest entry. It's a little bit tuned up 1977 Dodge Monaco police car. Supercharged big block engine is there for catching those Corvette speeders with this over sized late-70's elephant. More pictures here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=266448

I know the name, but not sure if I know the song. Anyway, i prefer song Drive from The Cars even it isn't about cars :-)

Hehe maybe my nick isn't that original then... I try to cope with that anyway. :)

Hello everyone! I am art student from Finland and big Lego enthusiast. With Lego I usually build 1:20-22 scale model cars and maybe some of you might have seen them on at Brickshelf or Mocpages. I used to hang out at Mocpages forum but apparently it went down, so this is my new home now :)

MOCpages to offer (free) image hosting
Mr Muscle replied to Hobbes's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Umm, this is what I was afraid for after BS went down. There will be lots of new sites replacing BS and not one big community that collects all brickimages at the same place. Maybe time will show which of these sites keep it up. I personally have great hopes towards Mocpages since Sean Kenney is very much into AFOL scene and has been actively upgrading that site in this turmoil. -
I have several 10-wide / 1:22 scale muscle cars on the way. Interesting models with nice combination of good looks and powerful engines ;)
