  1. Medieval Market Village? Maybe the barn from the Mill Village Attack? On a smaller scale perhaps the horse and cart from Gandalf Arrives?

Or combine him with the soon to be re-released series one Witch and the Harry Potter Hagrids Hut, maybe thrown in the series 7 Grandma Visitor to create a fairy tale scene?

Great ideas. It's that kind of thinking that gets me buying more Lego than I normally would have.

  2. I was at a Legoland Discovery Center in Atlanta, GA this weeekend and notice a couple of larger zip-lock bags. At first I thought it was a new larger grab bag, but it wasn't taped closed or anything. I suppose it would have been good to ask about it, but I was in a rush. I was thinking that it was a different way to get PAB pieces. I wonder if they charge by weight?

  3. Ted was just released last weekend here in England and I have to say I loved every minuite of it. It's been a while since I've laughed that hard at a film and am so glad I went to see it with friends.

Recently I wanted to go see a comedy and I regret choosing The Watch over Ted. The Watch was just OK, but I'd recommend anyone to simply rent it later on. I see that Ted has been getting much better reviews.

  4. That shouldn't be feasible to do at all. If it is, your "self service check out" station is extremely poorly constructed. In Denmark, such stations measure weight of the goods when you scan them - meaning that to cheat like this, you'd have to find a label that weighs exactly the same as the LEGO you want to steal. Not saying it's impossible, but you'd have to put a lot of work into it.

In stores like Walmart you can select to decline to bag your item. This is for larger bulky items that don't fit in standard grocery bags. It essentially overrides the weight sensors. Of course if you do it too many times during a single checkout you need a store clerk to override it for you.

  5. The lime green on that car looks hideous and the big decals don't help either.

Of course, for £1.99 it's a steal, I would have bought it as well and then try to sell it for £20-25, since you said the box was damaged. Just my two cents.

I agree, since he paid so little for it selling it at any kind of price most would consider a fair to good deal should net him some extra money.

  6. Oh right, and we all know that businessmen all use walkie talkies.

I don't get why they didn't just keep the drumstick from the CMF zombie, which worked quite fine. But eh, the important thing is the figure. And the figure does look quite nice.

He's retro with a late 80's/early 90's cell phone.

  7. I clicked around and saw that the Shell Hong Kong & Macau official webpage has an official English version. It's nice to read the official translation as opposed to relying on the automatic translate function of my web browser.

    http://www.shell.com.hk/home/content/hkg-en/products_services/on_the_road/fuels/lego_ferrari_model_collection_tpkg/

Some interesting and fun links on that page.

Here are the promo details for Hong Kong. I suppose there will be similar details when this goes global.

Here's a quick little virtual building game.

Here's the offical Shell TV ad.

  9. This is my first review posted on Eurobricks; obviously it’s not an insightful one. But practice makes perfect. Hopefully, my next review will be better.

Actually, it is very insightful to me. I can't really find much info about these sets and I am very interested in getting all of them. I didn't know about the minifigures or that the leaflet turns into a starting grid. I also wasn't aware that they had a pullback feature. If I'm not mistaken those look like new torso stickers for the Ferrari race crew. The torsos are typically stickers in the Ferrari sets. It would be cool if they were printed, but I can see that they are all stickers.

So, I gather that if you collect all 6 cars you can take the empty packages(?)to a participating Shell station and get the set of minifigures? Do you also have to buy gas for the minifigures, or do you simply pay for them, or both?

I look forward to seeing all the cars reviewed if you are able to do so.

Since they are basically Disney Cars scaled I may look into getting 1 or 2 Cars sets that may serve as a backdrop to display these. Now that I think about it, I should have bought the 8486 Mack's Team Truck set when I saw it on clearance. It could easily be converted into a similar scaled Ferrari truck with some sticker applications.

  10. According to brickset.com, which has reliable info on LEGO sets new and old:

    Availability: Promotional

[DE] Available in Germany, May 2012

[uS] Available from Lego Discovery Centres, August 2012

So I doubt you can ask from S@H but if you try it and you get it then let me know! I want that too!

Hopefully, someone can confirm this. I'd hate to think that they are only at Discovery Centers and not more widely available.

  11. I'm not sure how I feel about the increasingly more detailed Boba Fett minifigures - I'm still adjusting to the 2010 one - but this still seems a fine set on the whole, and I do look forward to getting it.

    Nice review!

I find it kind of amusing how they keep trying different techniques for Boba Fett's gun. None of them look right. They should just mold a special one and get it over with.

  12. I had this happen to me when I bought an A-wing set. They listed it as complete and I found that there were a few parts missing. I made a list of the missing parts and looked up what they would cost via the Pick-a-Brick store online. I e-mailed the seller and gave them a choice of either sending me the missing parts or refunding me the cost of buying the parts and having them shipped to me. Needless to say they opted to send me the parts. It was really the principle of the matter as I probably had spare parts laying around that could be used, but they listed it as complete and I expected it to be complete. Had I known it wasn't complete I probably wouldn't even have bid on it.

  13. As long as you don't go over the maximum allowed days that you are allowed to dispute the sale, then I would wait it out a bit further. If you have received nothing within a reasonable amount of time that it should have arrived, then file a claim. I'm confident you shouldn't have trouble getting your money back if the seller sent you nothing.

As was mentioned, some sellers are just not good at communicating with their buyers, especially if they sell a lot of things on ebay.

  14. I agree with def in the sense that I wish they did stick to the comics more. I think people would definitely have been up for seeing some of the less "real" things in the movie. Superheroes to begin with aren't "real" (as much as I would love them to be :cry_sad: ) so I think in attempt to make Batman "real" he kind of loses the feel of a superhero to begin with. I came out of the movie feeling like I watched an action movie rather than a superhero movie if that makes sense?

That makes sense to me. I think it's a reason why I seem to enjoy these movies more than what would be considered a typical superhero movie. I was never much of a comic reader as the stories didn't seem all that compelling to me especially if they were too fantastic. Batman seemed to be a bit more grounded as far as he doesn't have actual superpowers like superman or maybe the X-men. Ditto for Iron Man. Even though they are science fiction the attempt to be somewhat grounded in reality makes the story more believable to me and therefore more interesting.

  15. I bought a Hogwarts Castle about 6 weeks ago from an ebay seller in California. They had it for $104 shipped. It didn't even occur to me at the time that it could be something they scammed from a store. I got the item and everything seemed fine. About 3 weeks later I noticed the completed listing was taken down and I got a message saying that the listig was taken down

occasionally we need to remove listings. In some cases, the item itself is fine, but was listed in a way that didn't follow eBay's guidelines.

Then they gave me these options

-- If you already paid, received your item, and you're satisfied, please disregard this notice.

-- If you won the item but haven't paid, don't pay. Since eBay removed the listing, you're no longer obligated to go through with the transaction.

-- If you already paid for this item through eBay, and it's past the estimated delivery time, you can open a case in our Resolution Center.

Never did really know what the issue was, but I wonder if this was someone doing something like price switching.

  16. Which set would be a better buy, 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep or 10223 Kingdoms Joust? There both nice sets but i can only afford one of the two. :cry_sad:

Wow, that's a tough one. IMO, Kingdoms Joust is more classic and perhaps you would enjoy that set many years into the future. To be honest I think the Joust set is more aesthetically pleasing, has more pieces, is a bit cheaper, and has 1 more minifigure compared to Helm's Deep. If you say that you already have some of the Kingdoms sets and none of the LOTR sets yet then I would say that it would be great to get the Kingdoms Joust to compliment your collection.

  17. I really like the way Lego has been putting out, or planning in the future, some really decent polybags with regard to popular themes like Super Heroes, Lord of the Rings, and now Monster Fighters. Can't say I feel the same about the Star Wars polybags though.

This Ghost polybag is just what the people want. A cheaper way to get a ghost minifigure without having to buy an expensive set.
