    Future Star Wars Sets

I think if they do Geonosian Arena they'll go full UCS on it like Assault on Hoth. It's just such a massive scene that has so many minifig opportunities along with the monsters and structural parts. Obi-wan, Padme, Anakin, Dooku, Poggle The Lesser, Jango, R2, Battle droid 3PO, Mace, 3 or 4 other Jedi, 2 Geonosians and a few battle droids. The 3 monsters, 3 pillars, the vehicle that carries the prisoners in, a tower structure where Dooku and ya boi Jango watch from, and a stand with a gate underneath. They could coincide it with a Republic Gunship that comes with Yoda and an actual decent selection of Clone Troopers.

Irish prices are all up. €70 for Y-Wing, which is fantastic. Rare to see 10c PPP on something so good these days. €50 for A-Wing, it's not horrendous or anything but I do wish it was cheaper. To be fair though, it's actually better value than the last A-Wing, and that Lando will probably fetch a pretty nice sum on ebay/bricklink one day. €30 for Y-Wing, Landspeeder and Duel on Naboo, disappointed that the lower end sets have gone up in price this year, especially since that landspeeder only has about the amount of pieces as a battlepack, but they're still cool enough. €40 for Phantom and Skiff, not a chance. €60 for Scarif, no way Jose.

I'm pretty okay with paying over €100 for walkers, gunships, shuttles, frigates etc but something about paying more than €60 for a fighter just makes me nope the hell out.

My bad, should have looked past the first 2 pages before deciding that they weren't up. I wholly agree then. The A-Wing is £25 more than Yoda's Interceptor for less than 100 more pieces. That's pretty cheeky.

Are you basing those prices on the Netherlands prices posted earlier? Some countries (NL being one) get it pretty hard when it comes to pricing so it's not a simple "-5 to get the price in pounds". For instance all £20 pound sets from this year are €35 on the Dutch S@H, whereas they're €25 on the Irish one. I wouldn't get out the pitchforks until official pricing comes through.

Surprised we didn't see a AT-ACT actually. I guess Rogue One just yields a lot of great set opportunities thanks to it's military theme. I'd imagine we'll see a Rogue One X-Wing and AT-ACT in the same wave in the near future.

So is it all but confirmed that the we wont be getting the usual four battlepacks this wave, but the other two will be in summer? Would love some clones and droids, but Imperial Super Commandos seems likely.

Nice to see Lego putting important figures in cheaper sets. I doubt Episode VIII will yield any interesting sets so these and the summer wave are all I'll be picking up over the course of the year. Particularly interested in the Duel of Fates, Yoda's little starfighter and the A-Wing, which I can hopefully pick up for under €30 at some stage (wishful thinking lol).

    If it's €30 it'll probably be either $20 or $25.

    Future Star Wars Sets

Feel I have an original enough idea or too, hear me out (I'm a prequel fiend): Revenge of The Sith - Republic Gunship - Mace Windu, Anakin Skywalker, Phase III Clone Trooper, Phase III Clone Pilot (That one is a bit dodgy because I don't think we ever see one in the movie itself, we do in TCW though) - This one is based of off a rather important scene where Anakin confesses to Mace that Palpatine is actually a Sith Lord. It takes place in a Republic Gunship hangar and Mace gets into one. I guess the most unrealistic thing here would be that it's an action vehicle that isn't in an action scene, but they could take liberties with the box art. Revenge of The Sith - UT-AT - Ki Adi Mundi and several Clone Troopers - No explanation really needed here. It's not the most notable set and we only see it for a second, but it's a great design that is looooong overdue. Revenge of The Sith - Either 501st or Regular Phase II Clone Trooper battlepack - Bit of a pipe dream, but maybe one day. I think they feel it might cannibalize sales of the other battlepacks, lol. Revenge of The Sith - ARC-170 - x3 Clone Pilots and an Astromech droid - It's been 6 years, pretty iconic fighter, this one is actually pretty realistic. Maybe not the third pilot but I'd imagine we'll see the fighter itself soon enough. Revenge of The Sith - Small battle scene involving an AT-RT - x1 Clone Scout Trooper, x1 Kashyyyk Trooper, x3 battle droids - Lego have never nailed the scale on the AT-RT, I think they feel it's too small to justify its own set unless it's way beyond minifig scale. I think implementing it into a small battle scene (ie Battle of Saleucami, but AT-RT instead of the speeder) would be the perfect fit for this. Attack of The Clones - Republic Gunship - x 1 Clone Pilot, x1 or x2 Clone Troopers, any combination of Jedi - I have no justification for this, I just didn't get it the first three times and really want it without paying extortionate fees for a used product Attack of The Clones - Geonosis Battle Droid Battle pack - x4 Geonosis Battle droids, x1 Super Battle droid - This one actually makes sense. We've only ever seen token ones in a few sets. Attack of The Clones - Clone Trooper Battlepack - x3 Clone Troopers, x1 Clone Sergeant/Commander/Lieutenant/Captain - Bit too good to be true.

Maybe I'm bias because Tydrium is the first major set I've picked up in years, and to be fair I don't own the other sets on that list, but I'd definitely choose it over all the other ones. When it comes to lego/SW vehicles in general I'm usually much more interested in prequel/TCW stuff over OT stuff, so it was kind of hard to choose between that and the Turbo Tank, but I chose Tydirium because it was the older set I'm glad I got it in the end. Iconic ship, great to build, looks fantastic in both flight and landed mode, and hugely versatile in what figs you can choose to put in it(The provided minifigs which are already great, Vader and Luke, the Emperor and his guards, or my personal favourite, just normal outfit of Stormtroopers). Who knows when we'll see it again and this might end up being the best version of it anyway, not a whole lot to be improved upon.

Bricklink has 2 more battle packs listed as per usual with a winter wave, but is there any solid information/widespread rumours about what they are? Since Regular Stormies, Deathtroopers, Duckface stormies, Rebels troopers and Resistance troopers are off the menu and prequel/clone wars stuff is(very unfortunately) becoming irrelevant for the time being it makes you'd wonder what they have left? At a guess I'd say possibly (minor rebels spoilers) But you'd still have one left over that I feel they'd have to get a little creative/obscure with. Rebel Scout Troopers from Episode IV? Desert Troopers? Ewoks?

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors

Set is a solid €30 overpriced here, for two vehicles that really aren't terribly interesting. I think they hugely overestimated how much people would want the Vader figure, which is something that I'd personally much prefer to get in the Final Duel set.

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors

Battlefront Stormies also have blue vents. Also interestingly, the Shocktrooper from that battlepack has black vents and the red is very precisely printed rather than being messily slapped on like in the main menu close up or very faded and beaten up like in-game.

Those prices are pretty good if true. Problem is how they'll be priced in Europe. €45 for the Imperial Hovertank, €130 for the Clone Turbo Tank...Pretty rough.

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors

I think it's that the artistic direction doesn't translate well into Lego when you're looking for that "cool" factor that sells well. To an outsiders eye who doesn't follow the series and thus doesn't have attachment to any of the characters or vehicles, most of the sets seems to be strangely coloured, bulbous in shape and the minifigs end up being more cartoony than "cool"(Protagonists in an orange jumpsuits and blue hair, sadface stormtroopers etc). When you look at the likes of TCW, the majority of the sets stood perfectly fine on their own. They were far more militaristic, often pretty sleek, had more attractive colour palettes , they had a certain uniformity to them and the minifigs has similar appeals. Add to that the fact that virtually everyone will have seen the movies and will be familiar with Clone troopers, Battledroids and the concept of the robed Jedi/Sith characters mixed in, you've got a winning formula. I think if you were to put a combination of two similar sets in front of a kid, but one was Clone Wars and one was Rebels (75012 BARC Speeder with Sidecar and 75090 Ezra's Speeder Bike, or 7964 Republic Frigate and 75158 Rebel Combat Frigate, etc etc) I think the only scenario where the kid would choose the Rebel set over the TCW one is if he was only familiar with the Rebels TV show.

    [MOC] Incom Z-95 Headhunter

This is wonderful. Usually to get these kind of shapes and details MOC builders (and sometimes Lego) end up putting way too many pieces in it and start going past the right minifig scale, but this is perfect. I especially love how the astromech droid is hidden, they're just utility at the end of the day.

Could this mean that there might possibly be more sets than anticipated with the initial 2017 lineup? I think I counted about 23 normal sets (as in non-microfighter/advent/buildable figures) marked as retiring. Replacing them with only 9 or 10 sets seems a bit...limiting.
  21. Hadn't bought anything in years, mostly out of teenage self consciousness. Finally realised that doing something you like that doesn't effect anyone else is a lot mature than purposefully not buying toys! Bit the bullet with these sets: Tydirium Shuttle, On sale for €80 at Smyths Galactic Battlepack, €15 at Smyths Obi Wan's Interceptor, On sale for €13 on Amazon Geonosis Troopers, on sale for €10 on Amazon A Captain Jag figure for to put in the Interceptor for €5 on Amazon Gonna definitely pick up a few of the new Imperial Battlepacks after Christmas but what I really want to do is expand my Republic Army. Do you think they'll do a new Republic Gunship/new AT-TE/UT-AT within the next year or two or will it be completely booked out with Rebels, anthology and new trilogy sets?

Is Yoda's Starfighter potentially the last Clone Wars set we'll ever get? IIRC, it's from the very last episodes ever released.
