#32305 Pin Connector Block 7 x 3
peter_m posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
...is it useful in any way? Has anyone ever used this part in any MOC? I know it was originally made for RoboRiders sets (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32305&in=S), but it looks like it has potential. Any ideas what can be done with it? What type of models (except for those suggested by LEGO) can benefit from using it? -

And again I have to rephrase my question - I meant any other use than the one suggested by LEGO :) I just tried it - Worm Gear fits in perfectly :) (sorry for bad quality of the pic :() But still... the question is - where can it be applied? -
Models for 2H of 2011

It looks like modded reverse-engineered 8071 (check out lifting arms on both pics). Or maybe it is just a prototype? Also the front is slightly different... -
Crane ideas anyone?

Is it really necessary to replace pneumatics with LAs? Motorized compressor can be used. I think that air pipes (or whatever are those parts called) look better than tones of gears needed to drive the actuators. But the idea of using 8049-like crane is good. -

Thank you for answers but I think you did not understand me - I bet it is due to my poor ability of expressing thoughts in english, sorry :|. You informed me that parts needed in various steps of the mod are listed there (what is obvious :P), and you told me where to buy various parts (which was not so obvious). And I wanted to get the information if I have to buy anything (taking into consideration that I don't have any other technic set) or will I be able to use only parts that come in the box. -

I know the instruction shows that, but I wanted to save time and just ask if those parts are like the spare parts from 8258 or if they should be obtained from somewhere else - instead of performing time-consuming check of bricklist. I don't even have the set yet and I wanted to get any other parts that will be needed before it arrives :) -
Need an advice - 8258 vs 8110
peter_m posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It sure has been a while since I last built anything - but now it's high time to start again :). I want to buy a decent Technic set. I managed to narrow the choice down to just two of them - Crane Truck (8258) and Unimog (8110) - but I have no idea which one should I pick. I have just few more days to decide, 'cause there are not many 8258s left. My situation looks like this: I have limited founds for just 1 set, because I am planning to get myself Mindstorms for the next christmas and my fiancée won't let me spend more money on 'toys' :P. The set will be first used as a decoration, and then - when I get NXT - I will use parts to build some 'mean machines'. I am evaluating both sets mainly in terms of look and usefulness as a supply of parts. --8258-- + it is available now + looks awesome! + it is huge! (what makes it look awesome ;] - and it comes with great amount of parts) + it has 2 linear actuators, that work well with NXT (that's what I heard...) - it is huge! (my fiancée might get angry :P) - it doesn't have any pneumatic parts, which might be useful (e.g. http://video.designworldonline.com/...) --8110-- + it looks awesome too! + IMHO it looks more 'polished up' than crane truck + it is smaller (won't get on my sweetheart's nerves :P) + it has some nice parts (including pneumatics) - it is smaller :( - it doesn't have actuators - I'd have to wait for it :( I have no idea which one to choose, because I like them both more-less the same. Maybe you could share your own thoughts? Which one is better in your opinion? Why? Thank you in advance :) -

Thanks for answers! I decided to get 8258 but unfortunately due to some unexpected expenditures I am not going to buy any set now :(. I will be hoping that there will be one 8258 waiting for me ;)
