  1. So today I received a second email from Lego S@H that the set will be delayed. The first email was on the same day that I placed my order, which was June 1st. Seems like it won't matter when you ordered, everyone will get theirs in August.
  2. It does not work by some sort of "code" in the image of the Lego Porsche, but it works by image recognition. There are many ways to do it, but generally it will recognize areas in a picture with high contrast. So the outline of the bright Porsche against the dark background can be recognized fairly easily.
  3. I don't think so. The entire sets id is in that registration plate. 42054, OK420 54MJ.
  4. It also said that same thing on the dutch S@H on the 1st of this month. That also happens to be when I ordered the set. At this point I don't know what to expect anymore. If I go by what the site said first, it could be before the next month. But I doubt that now.
  5. All you get are some wallpapers. The page was accessible before. You can find the content in the Porsche review thread I think. Here is the link.
  6. I was actually hoping that someone would make a white version of it. Although I am curious how you dyed those pieces and how they look next to regular black Lego panel pieces.
  7. Considering that 42056 is part of the grand price, I think their intention is for people that do not own that set yet to win. It would not make sense to give the set as a reward for someone that submitted a variant of it.
  8. Well, considering that it was listed as 'will ship in 30 days' on the day that it released, I would not expect it soon from S@H. It is also still unavailable on the dutch site.
  9. I understand that it is about realism. I can't imagine it having much of an effect on the actual driving of Lego models, but I could be wrong. Thanks for those links. I took a look at the first one, the written article, but if I'm honest I can't say I understood much of what was talked about. Although that may be because your link sent me to page 3 of 6. When I have the time I'd like to read the rest as well. I've got a feeling that this will grow to be an obsessive hobby of mine. And I intend to learn as much as possible when it comes to making my own models. If only I did not already have two expensive hobbies (computers and mechanical keyboards). I cannot wait to get my hands on the Lego Porsche and to apply all the essential mods to it. Then I will further modify it to my liking, or make something different out of its parts.
  10. Sorry if this is a little off-topic, but I gotta ask. When reading all these post about modifications to the model, I come across a lot of technical terms that I have not heard before. A few of them I could figure out with a quick Google search, but others are still somewhat of a mystery to me. For instance, caster angle. I get that it is the angle of the suspension of the front wheels (I think), but what is it's significance. Is a positive angle preferred over a negative angle? What kind of effect does it have. Some other terms that are foreign to me are 'Macpherson suspension' and 'Ackermann steering' just to name a few. My guess is that these are not specific terms to Lego, but rather to cars and other vehicles. But where can I find out more about these sort of things, or does it just come over time? This set may be the first set that I buy (ordered from the online Lego shop, still no further info) in a very long time, my last one being 8297. And it has sparked an interest in Lego Technic in me that I have not had before. I am looking forward to expanding my modest collection of parts and making my Technic MOCs, something that I have not done before.
  11. Would you also have an idea whether using Huifkar can get your package stuck at customs? I have a bad history with ordering things from outside of The Netherlands. I have almost always had to pay for customs. And if that can happen in this case as well, that would negate the price difference, or even make it more expensive overall. I already had made an order in the online Lego shop, or at least I think. I really am not so sure any more. And this is the first time I have ordered from the Lego shop. When I ordered, the site said it would ship the 7th. Of course it was immediately back to a 30 day delay, right after I completed the order. And now it is even 'temporarily unavailable', but I may just wait it out till the 7th and see if I hear anything in the mean time.
  12. Will this arrive sooner than a purchase from the online Lego shop? Does this method also have the delay? If it does not, this makes it objectively the best option. Not only will you get it sooner, but it also costs 30 euro's less.
  13. So would that mean for the people that have already placed their order on the website? When I ordered mine it said that it would be shipping the 7th, but when I was done with the order, it was back to 30 days. Now it just says it is temporarily out of stock. Oh, and I created an account pretty much because of this set. It has been a long time since I have bought a set, and this is the perfect set to spark my interest in Lego again. Even if it has its flaws.
