Hi Lazarus, I've been thinking of doing the same thing in my layout. Has anyone tried using flexitrack? It might be easier to flex the track for the inclination but you might get less traction.

I have been trying to create a bridge for my layout but needed some perspective (like bridge pylons) for realism. Since the layout is on a table and I can't lower the water level, the obvious answer is to raise the the land and therefore, the track. It seems flexitrack also has some vertical flexibility so might actually be better suited to doing this. Of course, the gradient can't be too steep or flexitrack's poor traction would become a problem. Has anyone had much success doing this to create a bridge on a 'single level' layout?

I'm not sure why, we pay 20% more for Lego than most European countries. I'm heading to the UK in September so might have to pick up a new Red Cargo Train from the London Lego shop while I'm there. Luckily I do have a considerable Star Wars collection on the side. I'm sure i could indulge in a Storm Trooper or two!

I was originally interested in mounting one rail on a standard PF straight track to make a 'dual gauge' rail. In other words, the narrow gauge uses either the left of right rail from the standard track. I'm not sure who has tried this yet but the curved track is obviously still an issue!

I completely agree. I would certainly buy a cross-theme set, such as a siding for a port or freight terminal with no engine but 1 or 2 rolling stock. After all, we have had something similar in the past. Alas, I am also going off the topic!

Hi All, I signed up in 2011, this is my first post! My main focus is City and in particular, Trains. Whilst I'm new to MOCing, I tend to make scenes that match in with TLG's exclusive-style sets. That is, moderate levels of detail and functionality. My long term project is a train layout with 2 or 3 industries: maybe a port, a cargo terminal and a mine.

Whilst it might not qualify as a new engine, the yellow mine trolley in Lego 4204 "The mine" might provide some inspiration. http://shop.lego.com/en-US/The-Mine-4204 By adding an additional single rail inside a piece of straight track, it might be possible to incorporate standard and narrow gauge in a single line. Maybe a siding to an industrial area? Something to think about!
